    I run the EDT at each fill up along with the FR3 at the oil changes and the Stiction eliminator at the recommended time. I've had great results using it.

    Watch the project farm video comparing diesel additives? Really interesting! Hot shots did really well.
    Love the power stroke content tho. I get a lot of shit because I like the 6.0s but I just have a lot of seat time with them since they were new. I was really close to getting a bullet proofed one locally. They wanted $16k for it and this was maybe 5 years ago. I got my LBZ instead. A local guy learned me on them.

I currently have a 16 lml duramax that has had a new cp4 pump put in. The only problem it’s having after is that the truck wownt start when it’s warmed up, you have to wait until it’s cold again to start it and will run fine. What would you think it could possibly be?

      @@TruckMaster what about the relay and harnesses?? I really don't think you have a fuel/injector issue going off of the amount of white smoke coming from the tail pipe when cranking, and by how smooth it does run once it starts. I'm saying lack of compression or glow plugs issue. Did you test the relay?? When you initially turn the key on you should have power on the two big posts and one of the little posts. The 4th post should be grounded. If all 4 posts have power I'm willing to bet you have an ECU issue.

    Be sure to do an update after a few hundred miles to see how it starts later.
    I don’t really think it will fix the problem as the smoke indicates there is fuel being put into the cylinder and if it’s stiction it won’t be fuelling that stuck cylinder.
    So the smoke should mean fuel going into the cylinder with a squirt instead of a mist.

    When it comes to injectors, this stiction eliminator only works on HEUI type fuel systems? I've got a 6.5 Detroit Diesel, mechanical injectors (no PMD), and it's hard to start when it's 95F outside, and I don't want to know what happens when it drops below 32F. When it does start it puts up a smoke screen that dwarfs that Fords, and same color, white. 2 years ago I was told I need a new engine, but a few months ago I had to do an extended crank after changing the fuel filter and noticed that I don't have a compression skip, and no blow-by. I'm thinking I might try to do injectors, but I know little about diesels and no diesel shop here wants to touch an old mechanical engine except for the shop that gave me the quote two years ago for an engine swap

    • @ethanutter7971
      @ethanutter7971 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you need injectors you need injectors if it's worst than that Ford it's bad no way around injectors that's just the way it is

    • @davidschmidt449
      @davidschmidt449 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      John Davis
      If it has no skip and no blow by then your shop was trying to up sell you to a new engine. But it don’t need it. Just get the injectors out and get them tested. It could be a pump also so if the injectors don’t fix it the pump could be running low on pressure also.

    • @vivillager
      @vivillager 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ethanutter7971 , Thanks, I was expecting to have to do an engine transplant, but later I began to suspect the injectors and pump. Being mechanical, the injectors are cheap... but the last time I did injectors it was on a Cummins, and I screwed up the feed lines. No big deal, since I already had some new ones on hand, so I replaced them. But I can't find feed lines for my 6.5, which means that if I screw up the ones that I have, it won't be going anywhere until I can source some.

    • @vivillager
      @vivillager 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davidschmidt449, Thanks, I began to suspect that after the long crank when I had replaced the fuel filter. I haven't checked compression, but the lack of compression skip, and then lack of blow-by, I'm starting to suspect that the engine may be okay. It's just that in the small town I live in, there's not many shops I can go to, and the only one that will accept the job says "pay me for another engine". If I have to replace the injectors I guess I'll have to try it myself and be very careful when doing so.

      I have seen a few videos of guys working on the 6.5 engines on here. You may be able to get some information from videos. I have never done it but my dad has works on them lots. I don’t see why it would be a hard job.

    Okay. You need to test your glow plugs 7 3 are notorious for glow plug issues because of the way the electrical is run second of all the main problem with your injectors could be that the injector heads need to be rebuilt that is much less expensive and most dude can do it themselves if they know how to turn a wrench last but not least ambient temperature sensor relay this is what fires off your glow plugs before your supposed to start it normally you'll hear it click but even if it clicks you need to make sure that the output power is sufficient from the solenoid front center of the engine

      @@TruckMaster doesn't mean the electricals to each one is not screwed up I've seen it before I own proformance design fabrication machine and welding and I've been running 600 horsepower plus 7.3 l Ford diesel since 99 before that I was running a twin-turbo 69 diesel that I also built I had a shop in Phoenix for 6 years move it back to Montana and wrecked my chopper into a deer so I haven't worked in a couple years but my information is solid I promise

    How to fix hard start but a duramax. Seriously tho powerstrokes always struggle with cold starts.

    That is a glow plug issue. Not stiction. An over night test is what needs to be done. Not just a few hours.

      Judging from the smoke, I would be checked the glow plug relay. Appears as if none are working.

    • @bridwelln
      @bridwelln 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not necessarily, with the amount of force the injectors are pushing the fuel out and the amount of heat generated from that a 7.3 should have no problem firing up in 20 degree weather. My obs never had a problem firing up below freezing once I put new injectors in it. Most of the time I just hopped in it and turned the key never let the glowplugs heat up.

    • @robertjohnson2879
      @robertjohnson2879 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Noah Bridwell your 100 % correct. I can do the same with mine. But I bet if you disconnected your glow plug relay it wouldn’t. As soon as u turn the key they start heating up.

    Not a good test block holds the heat you needed to let the truck sit on a cold overnight

    Find and repair the problem
    The 7.3 needs the injectors shimmed
    DON'T put lucas in a 7.3! It makes this problem worse.. called stiction
    Using 5w40 will improve this over 15w40, BUT shims will FIX this and make the truck start like new
    Shims cost LESS than a bottle of that crap
    SHIMS! NOT FANCY CRAP IN A BOTTLE
    Do it yourself in an afternoon no need to pull them...
    Take care and don't sell that 7.3!

      @@TruckMaster that hot shots secret is super good stuff! Smart decision trying to save some $$$. But what I was referring to is you said better to try the hot shots instead of putting it into the shop for injectors. I was simply expressing theres no way you need to put that thing in a shop. You far exceed the ability to stab injectors in that ol girl! Love your videos to by the way.
