VALUE KINGS // 2025 Audi Q7 vs 2024 Acura MDX | Car Conversations

Today we are comparing the new Audi Q7 to the Acura MDX. The Q7 looks a little different for 2025 with a larger chrome grill and new LED headlights. The MDX goes for a full blacked out design. Both have chrome, but the MDX A-Spec has a blacked out version of that. The interiors are also going to be quite different because of the trim levels. The Q7 has faux leather seats and a lot of soft touch plastic. The MDX has sporty elements like faux aluminum, red stitching, and suede inserts for the seats. Both have leather wrapped steering wheels and fully digital gauge clusters. The MDX comes out on top for the materials in this A-Spec trim and for storage. As far as climate controls are concerned, the Q7 has all of them integrated into the bottom display. The MDX will use physical buttons and it has ventilated seats, which is an option on the Premium Plus and Prestige trims for the Q7. Both have responsive infotainment systems with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but the MDX uses a touchpad and the Q7 has a traditional touchscreen. In the back, both have adequate legroom and seat back pockets. The MDX will have more adjustments for the climate and it also has a removable middle seat. The third rows are disappointing considering that the Q7 and MDX are the only vehicles with third rows in Audi and Acura respectively. There are no vents, climate controls, or USB ports on today’s models, but there are cheap plastic armrests and one cup holder on each side. The cargo areas won’t blow you away either, but the MDX has more space in all three configurations. Under the hood, the Q7 has two options, but we have the 4 cylinder turbo making 261 horsepower. The MDX will have the traditional V6 with 290 horsepower. For today, the MDX is the winner with 7.5 points and 5 points for the Q7. MDX is better, they drive the same, MDX has the better engine (unless you get the V6 in the Q7 which costs more to maintain), MDX is more practical and more reliable, the Q7 isn’t nicer despite being more money than the MDX
