Everyone out here talking about the amazing set design and the visual masterpiece that this is but can we take a moment to recognize the sound design... That what really got me more than anything in this his use of balancing absolute silence follow by a jarring bang really sold it for me....
Thank you! I owe a lot of it to Jorden Davis, the Sound Supervisor. His feedback and criticism helped immensly. Even though I did all the sound mixing and editing by myself, It wouldn't be nearly half as good without his help and him just re watching rough cut after rough cut just to give me more feedback.
Thank you for watching! Did you enjoy the film? Care to help out against the horrors of the youtube algorithm? Then please, like and comment, or even subscribe if you feel so inclined. Any help is appreciated.
Genuinely had goosebumps, the atmosphere and sense of character was fantastic. Beautiful build-up and paid off really well. Honestly one of the best brickfilms I've ever seen, well deserved win!
Like i know how good brickfilms can be, but you created true masterpiece - set design, music in the background and what most important - story. I am a big fan.
Blooooody brillllllllllllliiiiiiiaaaaaannnnnntttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is sooooooooo amazzzzzzzziiiiiinnnnngg. Congrats my friend
Fantastic film! It's so great to see all that hard work pay off. This film hit all the suspense-horror marks, I was actually jittered and a few of the stops got me! The set design was *stunning* you never seen anything like that with brickfilms. And having seen the behind the scenes photos I know that there was crazy effort and detail put into the set that shows through the film. Lighting was another strong spot. This is a tight set so it's impressive you managed to get such an even, balanced, and moody light throughout the entire film. Sound design was another spot that was so well done. It's important sound be right in a horror film, because while we like to think silence is dramatic there is always noise. It's often a part of brickfilms that is overlooked; on this you did not stop short anywhere. Story was great, I love how we don't actually see the monster to the very end and only for a short bit. It really drives home the concept and underlying themes the story is telling. An honour to be a part of this film, and I hope we get to see more from you. Very talented. Brilliant!
That was so well done! I love the monster design, especially with that smile, and how that was the first thing we saw before revealing the rest of him. Everything before that part was also done really well, you really succeeded in pulling off that feeling of isolation. Oh, and that jumpscare with the phone really got me! :D
It is not easy to properly build suspense and keep it all the way through the movie - but you managed to do just that. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. And the music was very fitting for that. Well done!
The part where the phone turns on was also very creepy and I honestly got chills. This has got to be the best horror stop motion I have ever seen. Keep up the great work man!
OMG THIS IS AMAZING!!!!! The set design, atmosphere, it’s all so good! One of the best brickfilms I’ve ever seen!!!! You deserve so much more than you have 12:55 omg that was--
This is brilliant. At first I thought 17 minutes is awfully long but they go by in a heartbeat. The scenery, build-up, lighting and tension are fantastic, so is the music. Really great and it deserves the prices you already won.
This was extremely good! You obviously have a very good grasp of the visual language of film making. The story was also very well written, and I felt myslef being pulled into it. Keep up the good work
I am astounded. This brickfilm can be perfectly translated into a live action film. You clearly understand what makes a good horror movie. Great job man, I will definitely be looking at your videos.
Yep, probably the best horror brickfilm I've ever seen. Watched it twice in a row. Everything was executed with such thought and care that there's nothing really to critique because you pretty much thought of everything and nailed it all. Congrats, you've done the impossible: you made Lego scary.
there's a lot of good stuff I have to say, good effects, nice voice-overs, but just overall great job! a 17 minute stop motion takes FOREVER to fill, and I respect that also I like how you made that knife block in the kitchen in the beginning, using the 1x2 sloped vent piece. Big thumbs up
The cinematography is good, you know how to build atmosphere and clearly know how to operate the camera, I just wish you hadn't resorted to "loud = scary" so much, I was way more creeped out by some of those long camera shots that left space open for a possible visual scare than the auditory scares.
Nice work, Will you ever return to the Lord of the Rings? You could do the battle for the helms deep, or the battle of the Ithilien, or the ambush of the hobbits of the nasghols, or the death of the boromir, or the conquest of the dwarves of moria. Or perhaps the Fellowship of the ring somewhere along the way. Or the dwarves of the Erebor fighting for the mountain....?
Possibly, but not in the forseeable future. I have considered it yes, but I’m mostly interested in original projects at the moment! Though the next project will be a fantasy epic, very inspired by Lord of the rings, so a nice middle ground I suppose :P
@@SurfSmurf778 Amazing!! I do stop-motion, too. And I also made lego moria. th-cam.com/video/cKPt447kZB8/w-d-xo.html I've even made a gandalf fall, but I don't have a single set Lord of the Rings or a hobbit, so I must improvise. th-cam.com/video/RqWu5jDmloo/w-d-xo.html (and I don't even have a cave troll :( :(
5:50 and I was like 😶 Great job, looks really nice. I was watching Gold Puffin’s Top 10 Brickfilms 2020 and this was in there so I watched it. Also how did you make that monster thing? I might make something like that design for one of my stop motions. Looks great!
Thank you! Well the inside of the monster is a bit of a mess, and I mostly just improvised to get the right shapes. I covered up most of it with the cloth (just roughly cut to shape), but made sure that the arms, spine and head could be poked through! For the facial features I just used white stickers.
I use cubase for writing, recording and mixing, but the libraries are bought separately. Yeah thats fuckin true
The suspense is wonderful, set design and piece usage, and camera angles, everything was amazing
And man the design of the thing is really awesome. The scene when you first see it in the background is frightening!
Nice work, man and good luck with the contest!
WOW this has to be the best animation I’ve ever seen! It was genuinely scary… love it!
The slow camera movements also added to the suspense and the details of the lighting and props really improved the film

I could honestly watch this again and again and find different little details each time. It’s sooo blooody good!

The set design is immaculate and immersive and the lighting is so on point it feels like I’m watching a live action film
Watching this at night is one of the scariest things I had ever experienced. My gosh! I love this!!!
how the atmosphere is built is just masterful, that bat almost killed bro!
Like i know how good brickfilms can be, but you created true masterpiece - set design, music in the background and what most important - story. I am a big fan.
This is actually so good. The part where the bat flew up gave me a good jump and the creepy sounds and non diegetic music really kept me on edge
THAT,WAS AWSOME!!! Woowee keeps you on your seat. 🤣👍🏼

I found it was filmed too dark to really see what is going on.
