    This is terrific. I have a PSI that has been sitting for a year. Thanks to this video, I think I have the ambition to install it. You made this very simple and clear. Thanks. L&S.

    Great video. I have been considering building one of my own, but found this one from Penn, but was unsure of whether to buy it or not. I truthfully, was concerned about the quality as it is much cheaper than anything else I found, which is why I was going to build my own. You, however, eased my concerns over quality and functionality. Thank you!

      I’m glad I was able to help. It’s a great piece of equipment. The only problem is the acrylic bar holding the acrylic guard to the metal frame cracked. I replaced it with a 1/8” aluminum bar. Here is the video. th-cam.com/video/5YgC8UDXh0I/w-d-xo.htmlsi=HPZsyOh0N2lqFDKX

    I purchased the same table saw guard several months back for my saw. Works pretty well, and at a pretty good price.

    That appears to be a very nice device and I like your installation. I use some of PSI's pen turning equipment and it seems to be well made.

    Very informative and concise video. I have the same PSI set up with my dust collection going to three major areas. When I shut off the other two areas, I still get dust coming out the top of the tablesaw. How many different tools did you connect to your desk collection when you performed this video?

    I was wondering where you located the vertical ceiling drop relative to the saw blade.

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  ปีที่แล้ว

      Did not measure exactly. Its just a matter of aligning it over the table saw. You have some room for error or a better way placement can be adjusted

      The instructions say the support from the ceiling should be about 4" behind the blade centerline.

    Hello
    I am looking for a system like this that doesn’t involve removing my riving knife so I appreciate the video. After a year of using this are you still happy with the way it works for you? Has it broken down in anyway? In you video I don’t see a riving knife/ splitter. Does this unit allow for using the one that comes with the saw?
    Thank you in advance

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I am still very with this saw guard and dust collection. It has not broken. This saw as far as I know has never had a riving knife. As the saw that I grew up with it never had one. Perhaps my father took it off. I have no idea. It should not be in the way

    Now that you have had this for awhile, would you buy it again? Do you still like it?

    • @PawPawsWorkShop

      Yes, I still like it and use it daily. I did a follow-up video of the one weakness and how I fixed it.

      @chrisallen57 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @PawPawsWorkShop I saw that after I asked. You were right about the weakness, 2 years was pretty good before breaking. Thinking about buying one.

    How do you think it would work ripping rounded edge 2x6’s down to 2x4’s? Some as short as 5 inches

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can just be aware that as the material is small you must be aware of safety. Sometimes it’s better to remove the guard for safety.

  • @gdod25
    @gdod25 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You said you would add a shop vac port. Does the four inch not collect enough dust?

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  ปีที่แล้ว

      You have two destinations for the sawdust. The top dust collection works excellent for removing the vast majority of dust from the top of the table saw however, the blade still throws a lot of dust down into the cabinet. On the newer saws there are methods in place to capture the sawdust. On this very old table saw that does not exist. There is a 4” port at the very bottom of the saw at the floor level. That is the only way to pull the dust out. It’s not very effective

    • @gdod25
      @gdod25 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I mis understood. Thought you had a dust collector for 4” and a separate shop vac.

  • @terry2346
    @terry2346 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Do you have dust collection under the table saw as well?

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For a 1979’s model saw the dust collection was that the dust fell to the floor in the cabinet. Oh, yes, there is a four inch outlet on the floor on the back of the saw. Lol, that’s it. Certainly, not up to today’s standards

    Nice setup. Did you consider the Shark Guard when you were choosing this? If so, what led you to choose PSI? Thanks.

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The shark guard attaches to the table saw via roving knife. I want one that was completely freestanding and separate of the saw

    How powerful is your dust extractor? I’m having trouble getting over the top dust correction to work. I’m begging to suspect it’s the second hand extractor I bought

      I have the harbor freight dust collection. It does well at pulling the dust from the tools. I know it may not be the best but is is more than adequate for all my different tools including the table saw

      A goal of mine is to cover the ceiling this year if funds are available. Something I’ve noticed about people in other parts of the world such as parts of Europe is that people have far more leisure time and have a significant amount of disposable income. Something that I do not have. I am however, trying to improve the shop and the air quality at every opportunity. Thank you for your comments and for supporting the channel by watching the videos.

      @@PawPawsWorkShop here in Europe we use vapor barrier on the bottom of the wooden floor insulation. It will cost you like a $50 for a whole shop and a few spare hours.
