Thanks from a UK arable farmer just north of London. All our land was cleared by ancient man by flint head axes! So nobody has any new ground to break. When I was younger in the 1980s, I spent time in Zimbabwe, southern Africa and saw land still being "stumped" with the timber saved to burn to make steam to condition tobacco. Your job reminded me of that, except it was +35C and humid at Christmas!
Yes.. those willow and popple will come back up the next year if you don't keep it tilled. Takes about 4 good years to get most willows rooted and pretty much one year for the popples. I just went through clearing two fields up here in northern Minnesota. Sure like the kello-bilt. Does a good job.
I have to disc a former garden and the bumpy lawn around it before the ground freezes here east of Saint Paul Minnesota. I’m doing it on a smaller scale with my Toro 522xi garden tractor and two Agri Fab discs attached in tandem. I just have to bolt a hitch to the front of the disc with parts I have sitting around.
We stopped picking many roots on new breaking. First year broadcast seed and fertiliser .Disk id in with a light disk. Run land roller to pack. Use heavy disk in fall. Don't deep till for at least three years.
The 325 really rolls the dirt. "I wish the front gang blades were as good as the rear gang", just like the D8, anything is possible, it just takes more money! BUT, more money is getting harder to come by, especially when Trudeau is upping the carbon tax! Time to dump that bugger.
G day fellows Yes carbon tax right now has to go! But Wayne aren't u American U don;t need to pay < Do U? Ths Tyson If that snow comes to Ont Iwill stop watching! LOL Ths good luck
@ Hello Don! No carbon tax in the States but I love to travel in Canada but Trudeau has made life rough for all my Canadian friends and that is frustrating to me.
It's funny to me because when I was growing up on my grandfather's farm, he would never do any tillage while snow was on the ground. I questioned him about this and he told me that turning the snow in would sour the soil. I guess that was an old time myth.
@Northern_Farmer If there was even a skif of snow, he wouldn't sink a disc or plow into the soil. Like I said, it may have been something passed down to him and he was passing it on to me, but he was very adamant about not turning it under. This is the same man that would not fix the headlights on our tractors because he said when it gets dark it's time to quit and we would start fresh the next morning. He had a lot of old time practices that he believed in and it always seemed to work out for us.
Kind of like working breaking with a little frost. Holds those sticks in place better for the disc to cut them. Sure got warm today, lost all of the frost we did have, ice melted off the dugouts, wind is still strong tonight though. Hope it freezes down for the weekend. The plan is to wean and ship out the big steers.
@@Northern_Farmer I have a 225 12' Kello near new and pull it with a 650J LGP works OK that matchup with a pintle below the winch can easily back up still in ground and turn to smack out any stumps with the blade when ya spot or feel them under the tracks while discing! But yers is heavier less passes.. Neighbors have the 800 but can pull with less than 500 HP guess it works great on most stumps with 2 passes!!
Im from Se Louisiana and thats alot different than im used to seeing. You have a beautiful place my friend.
@tigercat73 thanks a lot...

Good to see ol’ Smokey doing some work. Sure you could go faster with a bigger one but why; the disc would take a beating. Looks good
@russelmanary2501 i like using the old tractor in the sticks and stumps...not as worried about it taking a beating

That looked good discing in the snow. Do you need new blades on the front gangs?
Not yet
I'm looking at a 325 kello bilt myself. You think a 245 magnum would pull it nice ??
What size...this one is 12ft...I think the 245 would have no problem pulling that
@Northern_Farmer nice. Yeah I was looking at a 12 footer
@buckshotbuck23 it pulls pretty hard but that tractor should be fine
Keep ricking that, ground looks great

You should be pushing those trees down now so the roots get pulled out then pile it up when the ground is frozen
