In this episode Courtney showed that she was a real one cause as soon as she found out she instantly let Ginger know. Even though I’m not happy with her participation I’m gonna defend Macie cause you can see that once again she was manipulated by Dodie to help ruin a part in Ginger’s life cause she was jealous and bitter. Dodie is such a toxic friend that I want to know why the writers kept her and Ginger as friends cause she shown that she doesn’t have Ginger’s or Marcie’s best interest at heart and is only out for herself to be popular and is willing to lie, drop, betray or throw anyone under the bus to get there
My hot take is, Ginger deserved to be a little selfish. She spent 2 seasons being a way better friend to everyone than they really deserved. She was always there for everyone. She was always the one trying to be the bigger person and make things right. If she wants to take time for herself and indulge in her first relationship, she should. And it did piss me off as a kid that everything just reset in this episode. It ends on such a cliffhanger that it makes me wonder if there was some studio interference. Serialized cartoons weren’t really a thing at the time. The norm was to have each episode be a standalone so they could just be replayed whenever in whatever order. Ginger was unique in that it followed a liner timeline, but unless there was a special, the story didn’t flow from one episode to the next. So the weird way this episode ends makes me wonder if the writers had a whole arc planned out where the friend groups break up and get back together, but Nickelodeon told them “no.” And I would have loved to see that. Because honestly, Ginger and Dodie & Macie’s friendship shouldn’t have survived that. And I think Courtney and Miranda & Mipsy would have broken up too, because Courtney just exposed them for being snakes. I think it would have been fun to see an arc where Ginger and Courtney start hanging out more and spending more time together. Because, and I’ve said this before, Ginger and Courtney were better friends to each other than their “real” friends were to them.

And the fact that they betrayed her, what is it called? It is not normal. Ginger should to drive away these "friends". I would choose common sense if I was also betrayed. Forgiveness is for those who take on too much. I just now realized that it's not worth doing it, because it will bring troubles and misfortunes. I don't even think Ginger did much wrong in this episode. Like, yeah it was shitty that she was so wrapped up in her boyfriend she didn't say hi to her friends, but she barely spent alone time with him before Dodie decided they had to break up! They held hands in the hallway, had lunch together as a group, and he stopped by her house to ask a question. That's it! That's all the time they spent together before it was decided he had to go!

They actually did. It’s the episode where it’s Darren’s birthday and Ginger is planning it. Something something happens and Dodie can’t go. Ginger was talking to Courtney about it because Dodie figured Ginger was gonna change the date but obviously it’s Darren’s birthday and everything is already planned. So she’s talking to Courtney about it and Courtney sets the table with her and comments what she recently did, the trying to make her and Darren break up, and how she doesn’t owe Dodie anything. Now granted it wasn’t brought up in a way that it should have imo. Like have Ginger still be bitter about it or whatnot. Or maybe Ginger doesn’t invite Dodie and Dodie tries to get Ginger’s trust back (which I still wouldn’t tbh). Something different for sure.
I hated dodie ever since the lice episode so I have no sympathy for her and ginger always wanting to spend time with Darren is annoying but it is a new relationship she just needs to learn to balance but I'm not taking dodie's side. She was not manipulated to turn on ginger she chose to follow the bullies. And you are right mipsy,miranda,and dodie all need to go to hell. And I don't get why macie went along with all this. Macie is a confused teenage girl who thinks she is doing something ultimately helpful to Ginger and Dodie. And it can be very hard to go against the group.
Wait til you see Dodie fake a broken leg to become a cheerleader, sell out Ginger and Macie and THEN tell said cheerleaders that Ginger and Macie are bullying her.
And this was right after Ginger's appendix burst and she had to have it removed then when she went back to school, she got the short end of the stick while Dodie got so wrapped up in being a Cheerleader/popular by lying about a broken leg, Dodie didn't even give a damn about Ginger struggling with coming back to school and dealing with her breakup with Darren. Sorry for the spoilers
To be fair all 4 of them were friends before Ginger started going out with him and Dodie even when encouraged Ginger in the episode “Dare I, Darrin?” Where Ginger has a dream of Darrin. So that pissed me off.
I think it makes a lot of sense for Dodie to act hypocritical; encouraging dating Darrin then having a problem when it happens, because she doesn't think things through. She'd be more than happy to take credit for their relationship happening because of her but once it actually does happen the one thing she has a decent amount of control over, her small friend group, becomes unstable as Ginger spends more time with Darrin so Dodie has nothing really anchoring her anymore.

I never agreed with the idea of the entire school holding an entire assembly for Ginger. While yes it's great she got into that academy, they could've just had a small assembly for just her and her class. Having the whole school for an assembly over one person getting into an academy is gimmicky AF.

I remeber this being the last episode i watch as kid before losing cable. I hoping to see Courtney and Ginger become close friebds while Dodie, Marcy, and Ginger grew arpart. Heck it is stuff happens at school and lots of friendships break apart and new one grows. I was shock to learn that this arc went no were. Such a disappointment because it could show how Ginger deal with losing her closest friends, Courtney learning what true friendship is, Marcy learning to stand up for once, and Dodie learn the her actions have effects. But i do wonder why they drop this arc.
As a kid, I was SOO mad the show just did a reset after this episode. All of the girls friendships should have gone through the wringer, even for a bit. At least a few episodes of begging and groveling and THEN maybe a reconciliation. I agree with the audience that Ginger and Courtney should have gotten closer after this instead of letting the girls go back to normal. 😑

What makes this so upsetting that this show is very convincing when it’s arguing that Ginger & Dodie should NOT be friends because Dodie isn’t willing to put other people first and Ginger can’t properly express her self-dignity. People then thought she’d leave Dodie for Courtney but that was explicit fan-bait, Ginger just had to befriend Dodie once again because the status quo just had to stay intact no matter how petty things get.
