Biggest tip, match color spaces! Blender works in sRGB so you either need to convert your footage to sRGB or convert your CGi from sRGB to match your footage ie; some variation of log or rec.709. I prefer to work in a log profile before exporting out to be colored but that's just my preference!
You are a life saver for a VFX aspirant who wants to work in Blender ! May you have more strength and resources to create more such wonderful tutorials
It'll be listed as a color mix node, there's a drop down menu on that node that you can switch from mix to subtract. :) As someone mentioned checking convert premultiply on the alpha over node can save you a lot of trouble too.
1:28 you can also just select "convert premultiply" on the *alpha over* node, instead of injecting some superfluous mask
Good tip! The mask was to make the feet appear behind the branch, but convert premultiply saves the hassle with subtracting the alpha.
please never change the way you teach, legit one of the most perfect paces i have ever seen
I really appreciate this. I'm constantly trying to balance people's attention span with actually trying to teach useful things.
can you perhaps share the color spaces thing as well, mentioned by someone in the comments, thank you @@IanLetarte

Don't forget about pixelization. The intensity of pixels on a legoman is different
Haven't gone very deep in this area before. do you happen to know any good tutorials on pixelization?
@@IanLetarte No. I just create a filter and choose the right intensity
