Biggest problem was the bass recorder couldn’t be heard in the mix. The musicians and conductor were fantastic , it was All done very well except it was not mixed properly. My apologies to the recording engineer , it’s a hard job. Not just the profession , but to make a live performance sound just like a Hollywood mix from a show…. They got very close !
This just randomly popped up in my feed. Gives me chills both because it’s a musical masterpiece on the eve of Season three of the Mandalorian, as well as a reminder of the dark times we faced back when this video must have been shot. Well done!
Someone who was too young to remember COVID will see this in their recommended in 10 years and will wonder why they have masks on while playing instruments
Masks are worn in many parts of the world to prevent the passing of germs, via the droplets we spit out, so it won't be a big deal, just like it's not a big deal now. Only a big deal to nitwits that don't understand science.
Recently i watched a documentary of the composer of this masterpiece, it is awesome how he translated the feeling and ideas about a kind of outlaw, gunslinger, western feeling yet combining it masterfully with a feeling from the original soundtrack, specially in the orchestral part, those fast scales on picolo really are really something you could expect from Williams classic works... Beautiful interpretation
Ludwig Goransson did such a fantastic job with it, and to think it all started because he had some obscure instrument (a contrabass recorder. I had no idea that even existed until he stated as such!), a few notes for the overall theme, and practically birthed what's essentially a masterpiece in this day and age just from that one obscure instrument!
I've heard the Mandalorian theme played by about 30 other groups, and they are all trash compared to this. This is so well done, there are not words to describe it. Incredible job from top to bottom. If you write music, someone should talk you into writing for the Bo-Katan series that is upcoming.
When my grandpa died, he had a military funeral. I'd always known he had been in the military, but I didn't know what he did in the military. So after the service I asked my grandma what his role was wand she told me, "Oh, grandpa was on the Army Baseball team!" ...... I mean.... I guess _somebody_ had to do it....
WELL F@#$ING DONE!!! From Toronto Ontario Canada, big time salutes from your northern neighbours. Not only for this incredible performance, but for the services you've performed throughout the world. Cheers!!
First time I've seen treble, tenor and base recorders in a mainstream arrangement (unless it was descant, treble and tenor? Difficult to see the mouthpiece of the lower recorder with the mask on 😉)
"And for the last fifteen seconds of this song I want you to play like gradeschoolers that have never played an instrument and have just been handed their first recorder."
There's some very good sheet music on Musescore! Just type in Mandalorian theme, and you cans filter out results how you want. If you want something more like this, filter by selecting "Mixed Ensembles". There's some really good sheet music there. There's also like, piano solos and other things like that too.
@@LuckyOwI777 If anybody can upload to that then it's incredibly hit and miss. Sometimes people do a bad job of transcribing the music to then write it out for whatever instrument(s) they're writing for.

Great this is. This is the way. Yes, the masks, with holes cut out are awkward. Also, parts of this sound song, on the actual show and here, remind me of the the score to Indiana Jones and The Temple Of Doom. Wondering if this is a cheeky tribute to The Maestro. God bless and keep all our brave men and women who protect us.
I hope this is a joke, lol cause........most of the people in the band buy their own instruments Also, that bass was definitely one of the cheaper instruments in that band, lol
I'd bet money from my own experience in the Army they brought this up, and some spineless senior NCO simply yelled at them and told them to just shut up and do what they're told. Glad I got out, lmao, Army has gone to hell in a hand basket over the last ten years.

Love the soundtrack but yes a but someone does not understand that the wind instrument players don't really need to wear a mask they are playing a covid bazooka lol
Two reasons: for the transitions in and out of the performance and for uniformity. If you're in a band or the military, and definitely both, everyone needs to look the same.
Incredible rendition of a modern classic but agree with other comments: cut away face masks are sort of defeating their purpose 🤷♂️ still, great music
As someone in a band myself, they are still effective and they retain their usefulness and purpose. Even with the hole cut. Besides, it's pretty hard to play an instrument with something on your face
@@averagejonathansmithenjoyer as long as your embochure is okay, this shouldn't be an issue. Again, my band has attended concerts in the aftermath of the height of the pandemic when restrictions were lifted, and only audience members contracted COVID. Gave me GooseBumps! Wonderful, I will be listening to this many more times.. And I play the recorder, it's a treat to see recorders being used for contemporary music. An underappreciated instrument. And a top tier rendition of the Mandalorian theme.
Hey, kids, that 'ivory' alto recorder? Yeah, it's a Yamaha YRA-28BIII, with a street price of ~$20. A small amount of talent and a whole lot of hard work is what makes you a musician, not an expensive instrument.
What is so striking to me, some three years after this performance, is the utter discipline these musicians demonstrated to protect themselves and each other during the height of the pandemic. At a time when masking was seen as burdensome and heavy-handed to many, these musicians were both socially-distanced and masked during a music performance. I think this performance speaks highly of the U.S. Army's commitment to professionalism and safety. The U.S. Army well illustrated here that, even in a music performance, there was a way to take reasonable safety measures and still play beautifully. Bravo!
The interesting thing is that there is a process called condensation that limits the amount of particles that come out of an instrument. This process is the same as the condensation in the water cycle that produces rain. What happens is the particles that we breathe out are, hopefully, warm (if not, it means a. your are a reptilian like Mark Zuckerburg or b. You are an undead being). Since the instrument is cooler than the temperature of the particle, the particles will stick onto the cool instrument surface. When that condense, they will puddle up in the instrument. That is some instruments like the trombone and trumpet have spit valves. Other wind instruments just let the condensed liquid drip out of the instrument (mind me it is DISGUSTING 🤮). Also, just because a straw can be an instrument, an instrument is not a straw.
And then there are instruments like flutes where air is hardly blown into them at all, but rather over them to excite the air column within. The recorder has a short lead, maybe an inch or so, but I doubt enough condensation is occuring to provide any measurable reduction of aerosols.
I had to wear a mask like that for band in school and we had bell covers and stuff. It overall reduces the droplets in the air and stuff but it looks and feels incredibly stupid. I had to play my clarinet in a bag thing lol
@@carissa2985 no it doesn't bacteria and virus cells are crawling on everyone everywhere. It's a social badge. And with a hole in it just shows how stupid and nonsensical it is. Russia and China are laughing at us and how much easier it will be to reduce us to mere slaves
Seing someone from the army playing an e guitar which is traditionally a symbol of rebellion and non conformity in rock and roll, punk, metal etc. seems kinda funny
Sadly, this is a US Army video, it's political by nature. In fact, it's so political that the whole video's vibes are off because while you got these guys playing dope tunes, they're in the same warband that's destabilised half the world for corporate capitalist profit motives. But re: the masks, if they didn't wear masks, the same goons would be in the comments saying "why aren't they wearing masks, don't masks work?". The masks are purely there for show, but it's better to make a show of having masks, than to give ammo to adamant anti-maskers.
That's why you add covers to the end to catch it. I play flute, it's litterally impossible to play with them on. Like physically impossible. You have to have air traveling over the opening for it to play. The mask prevents that. Pepole, wear a normal mask. Take it down when playing. Put a cover on your instrument.
@@CristoRenaldo Yup, It's contagious nature and ability to hospitalise people more than makes up for its lack of lethality. 11 thousand deaths by Ebola, 5.8 million by covid and counting in over 1 year. Regardless of effectiveness, The US army band seems just to do it out of respect, and sort of trying to be the role model/good citizen.

Can’t stop listening to this impressing performance. What a show indeed!

Bravo!

...but it's the same.
God love them but that thumbnail had me in tears 😂🤣 piping that ‘Rona out the end of a straw as they wear masks! It’s insanity I tell you!
🤡
Its idiocracy

@@BRONZALiVE ebola isn't as contagious. It's just super lethal.
Covid isn't that lethal, however it's highly contagious. Which can make it lethal
