      There are options without camera, and Govee is releasing a 2.1 sync box as well, but with more input ports i think.
      The compromise of a sync box tho, is: You can’t get the effects from content that comes from TV and Apps on tv, only what you connect to the sync box :/

      @@RifetOkic no TV really is a bummer. But smart TV apps are usually terrible, can easily solve that with an android box, a gaming console, mini PC, etc.

      @@RifetOkic I actually prefer using an Amazon FireTV stick rather than the TV's built-in apps. This looks excellent and is an encouraging step in the right direction for making this available to the masses. At the top of the video, you mentioned that this box support ARC and eARC, and said you’d talk about it later. I’m not sure you brought that back up, but in my opinion, it’s not the inability for previous sync boxes to supposed 4k120 (and other gaming specs/options) that’s keeping people from buying, but rather it’s the majority of people use their TV as the source for all their content. That’s the whole reason ARC was invented, so the audio that’s being generated by the TV (built in apps) can be sent to an external audio system.
    So my question to you is is that the bit you were going to talk about later in the video? You mentioned you were playing Lion King from Disney+; were you doing that via the TV’s app? Or via your Shield?
    I think the bigger barrier to entry for the masses is that the masses use the TV’s apps and I have yet to see a sync box that can handle that. Thoughts?

      How can a sync box that relies only on HDMI pass through sync with a tvs built in apps?? Its impossible to do that unless a tv had a video OUT port to send the video signal out of a tv and into the sync box. No tv that i have ever seen has this ability.

    So glad to see these coming down in price. I bought the Philips Hue Sync for my 65" TV when it first came out forever ago and spent an arm and a leg on it. It was awesome when it worked lol. Had to reboot the box way more times than I wanted to over my course of using it. Moved to a 100" 4K Laser Projector and I'll admit; I miss the ambient light, which isn't something I can pull off now that I have a screen mounted in my living room. I really love this product! However, I've had Lytmi in the past with a major issue and FancyLeds now and it seems to be a universal problem with led sync boxes. If the top and the bottom of the screen is dark, sometimes the lights will flicker in and out of black bar mode. And it really sucks because it almost happens every time I use my tv :(. Hopefully these companies can figure out how to solve that issue! Then these boxes would be perfect!

      It does have google and alexa support so i'm sure there is some compatibility with home assistant but I have not personally tried it out. No support for that size yet. Hopefully they will since a projector setup would be epic. No interface for adjusting the number of leds so it must do that automatically behind the scenes once they are cut!

    • @toldim79
      @toldim79 หลายเดือนก่อน

      ARC is audio return channel u will never get back video on this port and they never going to make such a port, cuz u would be able to copy the protected contents. In theory it is possible to convert the internal LVDS port (the port which goes to the lcd inside the tv) back to dvi. There is few IC-s on the market which able to do such a job like this, altough i have never seen any PCB yet. Currently what u can buy is only converting the HDMI signal to LVDS but not backward.

    Try with denser(144/m) strip, it looks much better, the colors split like a blurred extension of the screen to the wall, not just 'ambient'
    The only real problem is still the same, only works on hdmi inputs, the camera solution is good because it works on the built in smart features(netflix prime etc) not just on external.
    You can also use a raspberry for faster color switching(lower latency)

But there's so much lacking with it that I've been looking to replace it forever, but the most important feature that was missing for me was actually ARC. I don't know if there's any other products that allow for this, since I don't obsess over finding a solution or anything, but stumbling across this lets me know that it at least exists now which is huge.

    I think the $300 price tag is what's keeping most people from getting into this kinda stuff! though, it's ironic, because I'm looking at dropping another zero on that price tag for a 100" tv setup...
    speaking of which, do you have recommendation for wall-size tvs? everything I can find seems to say to get a projector but I really, REALLY do not want to be limited to medium-darkness room viewing and fan noise.

    • @TheOfficialOriginalChad
      @TheOfficialOriginalChad 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      1. No "wall sized" TVs for under $25k on the market. I am taking on clients if you want to know what those options are. If you have $26k to drop on a TV, you can afford me.
      2. A legitimate 2,000 ANSI Lumen projector with an Ambient Light Rejection (ALR) screen comes in at about $5k.

    • @StormBurnX
      @StormBurnX 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TheOfficialOriginalChad I've sampled about a dozen of those kinds of projectors, both UST and traditional throw, on various 'modern' screens, including a few that looked pretty decent, but... I still, very much, do not want most of the compromises that come with a projector. Even the best ALR projection screens still only reduce ambient brightness by around 20-30%, which is simply not acceptable in large-window rooms during daylight - I enjoy light around the whole room, not just the screen.
      With that said, though, a ~$3000 100" television is about 7.3' x 4.2', which is plenty big for most 'wall size' TV ideas I had, that still allows for a minimalist entertainment center/console/table beneath, and LED stripping around the TV itself. After all, an ambilight clone is useless on a literal wall-sized TV ;)
      It's interesting to hear about the budget, though. It boggles my mind how the price seems to rise exponentially for that kind of size. I would rather buy a car or a house with that kind of money, than just a screen :)
