    You are a GOAT! Just got mine in today. My new beardie won't eat greens but I got him munching down on dubia and mealworm... with calcium dust. And he drinks alot of water. Just waiting for him to shake back. Hopefully this light does it! The coil light I got, like u said previously, is garbage.. sad

    This is the exact light 54 W that I got for my 90 gallon enclosure for my beardie. I have not sent this light up yet though. In the basking area, I am however using the zoo med 150 W UVB spotlight.

  • @Vegasc4
    @Vegasc4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Question: I have seen a few times where some will mount the uvb & heat lamp on the inside of the enclosure rather than sitting on top of the screen for Beardies. what is your opinion on this?

    • @ChiefSweetsUniverse
      @ChiefSweetsUniverse  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do this for about 80% of my enclosures it’s really to cut down uvb loss as most screen blocks 30% of uv. The heat bulb doesn’t matter because the heats gonna go through the mesh regardless.

    Hello. I bought one. My son just got a 3 month old dragon. We bought the 36 inch version. I am worried about it I don’t have a meter. I think I am gpong order the reptisun 10.0 t5 bulb one person says that bulb fits just fine. I believe this will be a bulb I can trust the fixture just energizes the bulb, so I couldn’t imagine the fixture being bad. I can’t afford the $250 meter. I believe my wife would slap me upside head. Thanks for your videos I find yours to be some of the most informative.

    • @ChiefSweetsUniverse
      @ChiefSweetsUniverse  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes you can use the reptisun bulb. It will work in the fixture. Understandable about not affording the meter haha. I took a chance on it still can’t believe I did lol. But it helps me make videos so you don’t have to buy a meter you can go off my readings as most bulbs that are good like the reptisun and Arcadia all put out similar readings and don’t change unlike the repti zoo I tested.

    • @richwilson7017
      @richwilson7017 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just an update. I purchased reptisun 10.0 t5 39 watt 34 inch bulb. Mouthful. When I first mounted it in my reptizoo with the most reflective side down, it was giving crazy readings like 10 UVB at 8 inches away, possibly even higher than that. In order to make it work properly, I had to flip to the duller side of the light reflector. Chuck, the bearded dragon is mainly in about 3 to 3.5 UVB when basking. I really wanted to be somewhere in between four and six, but I would have to adjust his basking spot a little more. I just wanted to let people know I don’t know if you can trust these things unless you have a 6.5 meter which I ended up getting. I would’ve burnt Chucks eyeballs if I didn’t have the meter. Thanks for your help.

    I'm misunderstanding... I know the UVB rays are not visible to the naked eye and come from the fluorescent bulbs. The lighting component- is it LED suitable for a Grow Light? Or is a "normal" light just to be able to see if the UVB is on/off?

    • @ChiefSweetsUniverse
      @ChiefSweetsUniverse  ปีที่แล้ว

      This uvb light is not a suitable grow light. I would go with any daylight LED bulb that will be great cause that’s what I use for all my plants

  • @sammythai99

    In Thailand for the tube lights we only have 2 options. We have the Zoomed reptisun T5 10.00 (but ours is in a yellow box, brackets not included) or the Reptiglo 10.0 by Exo terra. 😢 The rest are just bad coils. We can put our dragons outside, but during rainy season you need the bulbs.

    • @ChiefSweetsUniverse
      @ChiefSweetsUniverse  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah nothing wrong with getting the best uvb out their! I take all my lizards outside during the summer as well. It gets extremely hot and the uv index is around 8-10. With 105f days.

    I see a comment about it on here but wondered your thoughts. Is it the fixture that’s not reliable or is it the bulb? I’ve been shopping around trying to research and gather items before getting a beardie and I can find the reptisun and Arcadia bulbs easily but seems the only fixtures/hoods I keep coming across are the repti zoo, so would that work? The repti-zoo hood with a reptisun or Arcadia bulb?

    Could the difference in uvb in the same kind of lights be because of the uvb testers not being calibrated correctly?Just wondering.

      Calibration can be off but you can test this by using reliable uvb tubes from brands that put out a standard. Like zoo med for example all there bulbs pretty much produce the exact same output then you can join Facebook groups about reptile lighting and compare other people’s readings which is the same so that’s how we can gauge the calibration
