Crazy I know, but Wright brand bacon didn't fair really well. Was that a fluke? Interested in another comparison, check this out! Frozen Burgers - th-cam.com/video/FtSf09EnGyc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=H9AgOvdEjlHzCWEY
@@thehungryhussey Wrights processes their bacon much differently than regular commercially made bacon. More of an old school way that some people may not be used to and find off putting. For each their own. Will have to try that Oscar Meyer now. Great episode, cheers.
Right now for me it's Kirkland thick centercut I season then bake my bacon on a cookie sheet covered top and bottom with parchment paper in a cold oven set to 400°. Once temp is reached check for doneness every 3 minutes . Remove and save all bacon grease. This method gives no splatter/ no mess/ no cleaning simply drain into container and throw out the parchment paper
Was Black label until grocery stopped carrying it. Prices for the factory stuff got so expensive ($11/12 pound) that i started to look at the fresh cut stuff at the butcher counter. For half the price ($6) we get a pound of pretty thick cut bacon without all the preservatives and other junk... and it tastes a thousand times better!
I used to get Smithfield thick cut cherrywood...but the quality became an issue...slices were super uneven....went to Hormel black label thick cut and have been super happy !!
I would love to know pricing information on these tests please. Also, do you have an Aldi close to you? I'd be curious how the Appleton Farms bacon stacks up (I really like it) - among other lower cost offerings they have for other things.
i like Kunzler bacon. i get a 5 lb package and break it into quarters and freeze it. I wait till it comes on special. right now 5 lbs is $21.99 which comes out to about $4.40 a lb, so I'll pick up some this week. great segment. nice to see you working with your daughter......
Howdy Hussey 🥓🥓🥓 I bet Jacob is really loving this show😂 It has to be fresh thick cut from the butcher counter for me but I would eat everything you made today.
I'll agree with your mom on the Black Label, i like the cherry wood smoked. I've bought Oscar Mayer on sale and my family liked it but i always go back to Hormel. Might be time for a side by side at my house.
I guess for store bought. But my preference is Dewig meat market In Haubstadt Indiana. Hands down the best. And every time we go back to visit family we stock up on ten lbs box as well as their box of pieces
Oscar Mayer center cut is my favorite (never had Wrights, don't care for thick cut, doesn't get crispy enough). Are you sure you didn't just buy 9 packs of bacon so you can have bacon for every meal for a week? Lol. Thats the excuse I would use, "just trying them out". Excellent idea involving your little one to play.
I'm going to say, best option. Find a local butcher that makes their own bacon and sausage. Near me Sonoma Meat company easily makes the best bacon I have ever had. I've tried all those brands except the first one, and its far better than any of them. I keep going in and buying 2 pounds. And then usually my wondering eye makes sure I pick up something else as well. I used to prefer the stuff I made myself, now Sonoma Meat company.
I buy a local bacon made 7 miles from me. It's good stuff and they make a few different types. Thin, thick, different hard woods for smoke, and seasonings like pepper, jalapeno, etc. Buy local. Support the community.
That was an easy taste test. No such thing as bad bacon 🥓 😂. For us it’s HORMEL BLACK LABEL THICK CUT. Now if you just want a bunch of bacon bits, using bacon to cook with fresh green beans and new potatoes? We have used BAR S. A little fatty at times and a little salty to use for a meal. But ok for seasoning something. Great video. Your assistant done an excellent job. God bless.
My go to for favorite bacon is actually Walmart Great Value hickory smoked, regular cut. The hickory smoke flavor seems stronger than most, which I like. I'll have to give Oscar Meyer a try, though.
Does Cheerwine mess with your taste buds with all that sugar? I would go with water to be fair. GV regular cut if you look for a meaty pack has always been good. I just had a pack of Food Lion regular cut this morning that was pretty good. I think it is all good if you cook it right, with some standing out.
I believe Daily’s is associated with the southern gas station chain, never known them for bacon or their food in general though. Smithfield’s is always solid for me plus my grocery puts them BOGO quite often.
Well thanks. I just hope to raise good people at the end of the day. She's a good kid. As far as parenting, I goof up a lot, but I try. They're my liffe!
I've learned that bacon depends on the cut. Two packs of the same type of bacon might cook up differently and taste different depending on the cut of it.
I used to get Oscar all the time and it was delish, UNTIL COVID hit and then they started skimping on their product. Bacon got so thin that you could literally see through it and ended up going up on their prices! SMMFH. So I went with Kirkland in COSTCO.
I get a whole hog from a local farmer so store bought bacon doesn’t do it for me anymore but if I had to buy bacon at the store it definitely would be wrights.
So many people say wright is best but I feel the same way about it having a strange taste. Shots fired I know. Oscar myer and my local bacon all day baby.
Crazy I know, but Wright brand bacon didn't fair really well. Was that a fluke?

Just one question, why did you roll the package of bacon? I don't know about the "trick".
Wrights all the way
I use wrights thick cut bacon. But if I want crispy and thin I want Smithfield’s. ❤❤❤
My favorite is Wright thick cut from Sam's Club!
Wrights just didn't fair well.
@thehungryhussey you must've got a bad batch 😆

Exactly.

My fav is Farmland thick cut. It may be a Midwest only thing, I do not know. But Oscar Mayer and Hormel are always good too.
Yeah, never seen that brand before.
I used to get Smithfield thick cut cherrywood...but the quality became an issue...slices were super uneven....went to Hormel black label thick cut and have been super happy !!
Daily's Steak Cut Bacon. 6 slices in a pound, fantastic on the Traeger
I like Kirkland bacon or Farmland but don't know if you'd have that in the south. Need to try you some pepper bacon....THAT'S some good groceries!!!!
Hatfield extra thick hickory smoked is my favorite grocery store pick. My favorite bacon is from M&T meats in Hawkinsville Georgia.
Applewood Wrights or Cherry Smithfield. I only buy thick cut.
I would love to know pricing information on these tests please. Also, do you have an Aldi close to you? I'd be curious how the Appleton Farms bacon stacks up (I really like it) - among other lower cost offerings they have for other things.
This is awesome!! I agree Smithfield is not very good. My favorite is O.M.
Oscar Myer or Smithfield are my favorite. Maryn did a great job. She is growing up fast
Wrights is all I buy but sounds like yall like thin bacon and I like thick bacon which makes a difference that's why there is so many varieties
Hormel Black Label is by far my favorite.
i like Kunzler bacon. i get a 5 lb package and break it into quarters and freeze it. I wait till it comes on special. right now 5 lbs is $21.99 which comes out to about $4.40 a lb, so I'll pick up some this week. great segment. nice to see you working with your daughter......
Blue Ribbon and Wright Bacon my favorite!

Bacon goes w anything. I just love it. The worst bacon I ever had was still good bacon. Love the video

YOOOO HH. My choice of bacon is the COSTCO brand Kirkland Signature thick center cut Hickory Smoked premium bacon!!!!!!!!!!
I guess for store bought.

Depends on how you cook. Texture, crunchy vs flappy.
We live in Louisiana and the wife and I get the black label, we love it.
Heard it said (and I agree) .. If it ain't Wrights, it ain't right!! 🥓
fun video ... nice to see you do videos with your daughter. Todd Toven just did a nice video with his son also.
I used to buy Smithfield, but they are Chinese owned now so I generally do not buy any Smithfield products now.
Many folks feel the same way as you...
Love love love seeing your daughter on here
Wright is best, but it is expensive, so I buy what is on sale sometimes.
Wright didn't fair well here, which really surprised me.
Oscar Mayer center cut is what we usually buy. Still tasty. 😋
If it ain't Wright, you're wrong!
Wrights didn't fair well here...
I can't believe he gave Wrights the worst grade, its by far the best bacon i can get at the store.
That was an easy taste test. No such thing as bad bacon 🥓 😂. For us it’s HORMEL BLACK LABEL THICK CUT.

That's what we're talking about!
It’s either members mark or Kirkland for me.
Pretty sure Daily's is headquartered out of my state! Good ol' Utah!
Pretty much just get Wrights bacon because it's decently priced and pretty reliable. Tastes like bacon.
I know this was a hard video to do so thank you for taking one for the team 😂. That would be the best taste test ever
It's a tough job but someone's gotta do it.
@ 😂 that’s right. You’re a trooper.
Great video…but, should have gotten the same type of cut, and same flavor. Love seeing your daughter in the videos with you. 👍👍👍
I pretty much did that, but the reason I put Wrights is many people love it.
Hi Matt I'd like to see something done with cured ham versus City Ham versus smoked ham.
My go to for favorite bacon is actually Walmart Great Value hickory smoked, regular cut. The hickory smoke flavor seems stronger than most, which I like. I'll have to give Oscar Meyer a try, though.
Great Value is solid!

FL bacon isn't bad either.
Fun video, buddy. Love to see Maren again. She's a rockstar!
She's such a treasure and a blessing!
I do wrights bacon applewood
Or Costco thick cut Kirkland. Is best. Smithfield is Chinese bacon……….
Wright Brand is the way to go ! I got 4 frozen in the freezer right now😂
I'm about an hour from you, and my local Food Lion has Dailys thick cut. That's what I'm eating while I'm watching. It has become my "daily" bacon! 😂
That sounds like a good deal!
Daily's for the win. Harris Teeter has it BOGO a lot around here ( I'm local to you Hussy)
I have about 40lbs of it in my freezer.
Nice!! I need to go load up. It's good bacon!
I believe Daily’s is associated with the southern gas station chain, never known them for bacon or their food in general though. Smithfield’s is always solid for me plus my grocery puts them BOGO quite often.
Only one store around us has Daily's... was good bacon.
Everyone loves bacon !! Great review!!
Manly Meats out of Monroe, Ind. Peppered thick cut, smoked to perfection.
You’ll never go wrong with Wright bacon.
Kroger thick cut. Great video. When you started, I thought you were going to eat 9 pcs. of bacon and blowout, your buds. 😅
Hemplers or Fletchers… good groceries Matthew
I buy Black Label from Sam’s. Delicious 😋
Cannot go wrong at all there!
Me personally I am a Oscar Meyer hardwood smoke Bacon and always have been the fat To meat ratio is the best
Smithfield and Oscar Mayer are Bar S Bacon. Your daughter did an awesome job. Now Jacob doesn’t know what’s good. Have a wonderful day Hussey.
now try them all again on the smoker! Cant beat Traeger Bacon!!
Not a bad idea!
I can’t believe this doesn’t change Jacob’s opinion of bacon
He's still a hard no on bacon.
Too bad more dads don't raise their kids right. She's got a bright future ahead of her because of you and your wife. Keep it up!
Well thanks. I just hope to raise good people at the end of the day. She's a good kid. As far as parenting, I goof up a lot, but I try. They're my liffe!
Your daughter makes a great co-host
I wish I could have her on more for sure!
Center cut bacon, Oscar Mayer. $3.33/lb at Harvest Fare Fallston MD.
Nice! Cannot go wrong!
We have a pug and love the pug mask.love the new duo team.
Thanks so much! I ordered those from Amazon.
Also no surprise the pup is right there when there’s bacon to be eaten! 😂
Oh she's there for sure! Haha
@@thehungryhusseywhere can I get the magnet? I must be missing it
Maggie was waiting for her turn to taste😂
Oh buddy!
I buy my bacon from the local pork shop. Best pork in arizona
Kirkland from Costco!!
Kirkland is pretty good, for sure!
Good morning, grocery time. What we're gonna do today. Cold Sunday morning.
Morning!
Wrights
I've learned that bacon depends on the cut. Two packs of the same type of bacon might cook up differently and taste different depending on the cut of it.
Love me some Daily's out of Missoula, Montana.
I been buying Oscar Myer center cut bacon.
ENJOYED THE VIDEO. 🤑🤑🤑
Oscar maters is my go to.
nice job guys and gals
Wrights bacon
I used to get Oscar all the time and it was delish, UNTIL COVID hit and then they started skimping on their product. Bacon got so thin that you could literally see through it and ended up going up on their prices! SMMFH. So I went with Kirkland in COSTCO.
Kirkland bacon is fine
Burgers Smokehouse, out of Missouri is the best!
Williams is by far the best!!
Wrights
Never met a bacon that I didn`t like.
Same.
Agreed
I like the sams brand bacon
Been a Black Label family for a long time. Good confirmation.
It’s good stuff.
What were Maggie's ratings for each?
She gave them all 10s!
I like Hatfield
Dang it boy now I want bacon!!
Cannot go wrong with bacon!
Wright brand Bacon is the very best 😅
You have got to be kidding me about wrights
Weird I know.
Leave the rest, Kentucky Legend is the best.
I like giving the dog bacon.
My favorite bacon is the one on sale. 😂
Truth!
Oscar Meyer bacon is probably the best in my opinion
Dude put oscar meyer has tops 😂
I get a whole hog from a local farmer so store bought bacon doesn’t do it for me anymore but if I had to buy bacon at the store it definitely would be wrights.
Costco bacon!
So many people say wright is best but I feel the same way about it having a strange taste. Shots fired I know. Oscar myer and my local bacon all day baby.
