You need to justify putting the card and frame into the envelope; otherwise it's a highly suspicious and pointless action. Maybe you could place them in the envelope and then go through some charade of trying to make the card disappear a couple times, but apparently failing, and then on the third occasion say that you're going to try it without the envelope. Then go into the routine you performed. The little frame for the card looks great, by the way.
I like your thinking. I'd add an extra layer to the deception by having the card appear somewhere else (not the envelope, perhaps in a wallet). By having the card appear elsewhere it helps to seemingly eliminate the possibility that the card was left in the envelope at any time. (Note that this would require a third duplicate card in the wallet)
I promised a alternate handling. So here is a slightly different handling and patter idea, in a happy and darker variant. Handling: Use 3 identical cards. One already hidden in the envelope, one in the deck and one to make the gimmick. The gimmick has no bottom, the card can pass right through. 1) Show the envelope empty, close it and give to the participant for save keeping. 2) Have the participant select a card from the deck, force the card any way you like. 3) Hold the gimmick with your thumb and pointer finger. Lift up the gimmick but keep your pinky in contact with the table. Put the card in the gimmick. Then move to the edge of the table and lap (drop) the card. 4) Immediately move up the gimmick, turn it around in the air using both hands and at some point have the card disappear. 5) The card reappears in the envelope. Now the most important part, the patter. It is not a complete script, more a guide. From now on the gimmick will be the "cage". The card to use is either the Queen of hearts or when using Tarot, the Lovers. When the participant selects and takes the (forced) card, tell them that this card has a deeper meaning; it stands for true love. Take the card from them and put it in the "cage". Tell them that sometimes life is cruel, love is snatched away and may feel out of reach as if locked in a cage. Play around with the gimmick and make the card disappear. While doing so, get philosophical. "But is love really something that can be contained..." "... no, love always finds a way out and once true love finds you, it will stay with you forever" The card reappears in the envelope and is for the participant to keep. Darker variant: Use from the Tarot either the Devil or Death. In case of the devil you may end with: "Once the devil has found you, he will follow you forever."

That's up to you imho, to make a good story for the audience.

I would take a much thiner cardboard for the middle section of the card-sleave becaus the bolky thickness make it to obvius how the trick is done
This is great. Wonderful effect. I don't look forward to making it, but I definitely look forward to showing. Very well done.
I still have one from years ago.and sometimes still perform it at kids shows. mine was bought at a magic store
Don that's a great trick.👍👍🎉🎉🧙♂🧙♂
