Amazing job on that red face lion o. I think you could do the torso on that even if you leave his skin patchy. Great to see you have been able to fix them up.
They all look amazing, Dave! The face that was almost completely rubbed off, turned out excellent!! Your skills with the fine detail have vastly improved as you have worked on each new project. I can’t wait to see what you have for us next. Cheers!
Lion O with no face was terrifying. The red made it look like he had been in a horrific accident. Then with an all orange face he looked unnerving. Great job bringing these back to life.
I had to touch up my Britains Deetail soldiers, so for a while I had to face the many problems due to chrome and silver paints. Although the chrome is a lost battle, I did find a great silver: Vallejo. But there's a key factor that maybe is related to the difficulties you also had. The silver paint contains a more liquid, transparent medium, and then the silver particles. If you put the paint straight on the surface you want to paint, the particles alone won't work, and the paint will dry transparent. You need to paint the surface grey or black first, and when that is dry, paint the silver over it. Then you'll see how well it works. Also, after the silver dries properly, you can touch it as much as you like without fear of ruining the silver effect, unlike chrome.
I still have my Lion-O from my childhood. One of the few toys I still have. Even though I played the heck out of him as a kid he's still pretty good condition and hardly has any paint wear. Unfortunately I do not have his sword or cats claw Shield or the thing that lights up the eyes. I keep mine in a clear Ziploc type bag the kind they put toys in when they're selling them in flea markets and stuff it's got the peg hole in it he is displayed but he's in that bag. I only have a few of my figures from when I was a kid I still have my carded shatterstar from X-Force. I have a friggtt features Egon from The Real Ghostbusters toy line still it's loose. Funny enough he has the broken tie which I still need to fix and I know you did a video on it. I still have a handful of figures from the Spider-Man Toy line from toy business when I was a kid too..
I have to ask you if you water down the paint a bit. I was going to paint up a SW fig, using the same brand as in this video, but the paint dried pretty fast, and also got a bit think/chunky... It wasnt as smooth as I hoped for 🙂
I wanted Lion-O, Tygra and the thundertank when I was a kid but never got any of them. I wish I knew what happened to my ghostbusters and ninja turtles after we moved house
Always impressed with Daves colour matching skills👍
Thanks 👍
And hiding of brush strokes

The rest of him could be improved I'm sure. Maybe for a future project.
I never thought I would live to see the day a Lion-O face would be repainted. Well done!!!
It was a challenge!😺
@toypolloi You answered the challenge, you are Lord of the Thundercats haha.

Screaming Skull, or the Vallejo equivalent for the Beige color. I'm doing the same with Mum-Ra, and The Mutants.
1:57 "And that, Lion-O, is precisely why we wait for the fries to come out of the oil instead of dunking our face into the fryer."

Halfway through painting him I really wasn't sure if I could fix him as he just looked weird.

You could've called him the rare "Heat Blast" Lion-O. lol.
Impressive stuff. This figure takes me back to a caravan holiday in France when I was about 6. 2 weeks of Lion-O kicking ass 😆 Good times!
Thank you so much for this video!!! They look fantastic
good job on all of them
Hey Dave
Great colour match to the figures.
Happy Weekend to you and MrsTP.
Take care😊
Thanks 👍

Amazing job on the repainted face. I thought it looks better than the original!
Thanks. I was pleased with how he turned out. Look unfixable to start with.
Again awesome work, Dave. Thanks.
Thanks 👍

I wish you had completed the badly damaged figure. You did such a great job with his face his body would have been easy.
Faceless Lion-O has seen some things. You can see it in his eyes. :o
🤣
I think there is a difference between Game Colour and Model colour so you may find the model colour silver gives better coverage.
I have to ask you if you water down the paint a bit.

I use them from the bottle. Make sure to give them a good shake first.
@toypolloi Thanks 🙂 👍
I was able to wash it all off so I'll give it a new try.

Hello
Please Help me fix my MuM-Ra lights
It should be the same setup as Lion-o so episode 18 of 'On the cutting mat' should be of help as mentioned in this very video. Cheers
And how appropriate to be painting an orange faced guy at this moment in time…
No politics here please. Just toys 👍
@ sorry Dave - it wasn’t meant as a political statement just general silliness!
