Problem for me is I used to do heroin while listening to tool, now I am sober and even though I love the music… some of it takes me to a very dark place
This is definetly where I can see where Paul's style of playing stopped fitting in the band. Don't get me wrong, the guy's a phoenomenal bass player, Undertow's got some of the best pick-played bass work out there, but Justin had this very post-rock/psychedelic element to his style of playing that really can't be understated in how much it defined all of Tool's post-Undertow work. The bass is as much of a focus in their later work as the guitar, vocals or drums.
Led Zeppelin's version of No Quarter is absolutely phenomenal, but I don't know this version is just so powerful and atmospheric. Fantastic cover from Tool!
I love how they took a classic Led Zeppelin song, but totally made it their own and infused it with their own musical DNA. They were only a young band here, but over the years they really grew into one of the greats, like Led Zep.

Using Deathshuck's post as a lead in--> The fact they were young AS A BAND is true. But as far as musicians go, they were fairly mature and near "ripened", as the members themselves were (at or around) 28 years old. Again, this isn't meant a reply to anyone, nor am I sure what(if any) relevance it adds here, lol, but I figured it was a nice little side note.
