I ran a similar build to this up to the fight with the winged boss (avoiding spoilers). Unfortunately, he moves around too much for the big ice spells to hit him reliably, so I respecced into Metal/Toxic for that fight. It was the only way to keep damaging him no matter how much he moved around, while also mitigating his lightning attacks. Other than that, though, the ice build was fantastic for both bosses and general mission progress.
Same, I ended up finding a way to apply all of the elements to them, using toxi/poison to keep the debuffs on them and then the game just got that easy. Constant damage and big bursts with fatals. Such a fun game
@@Billytheelephant122 The ice build worked fine for Lu Bu. Like you say, he stops for long enough to drop the big ice spell on him. I just couldn't get the timing right for the flying guy (or the final boss, who was also a fast mover). Switching to a poison build took care of both of them. For the rest of the game, though, ice was the way to go.
Lol I tested the same build when I got a ice enchant on a weapon and decided to go full water with icy attack power on every item. I think I was about 70% in to the game at that point. Next boss fight was the dad that got turned into a tiger. And I tried the ice drops ability on him and 3-4 shoted him while the boss was attacking my follower. It is the strongest boss spell for sure but on some bosses you can’t really cast spells cause they will be in your ass the whole fight and depleting your spirit bar makes you really open for getting pwned. It’s a high risk high reward type of gameplay. I did not use it on any boss after that cause it felt cheesy but I did use it on some annoying moral farms for sure.
Dunno if it's been said yet or not but as long as you have 1 throwing knife you can move faster( basically draw it but don't throw it) and still do the guard trick for the stealth kills
Good vid, but I'd like to add something. If you use the final boss's set 'Evil taoist' you get even more damage, since that set is geared more for offensive wizardry, not statuses. Also, the way the virtues work in combat is like rock, paper, scissors. Each virtue is countered by another (> = strong against). Wood > earth > water > fire > metal > wood. This spell will be great against most things, but as soon as you come up against something like a NG+ mermaid (water type, resists water), or an earth based enemy (more damage against you), you'll be very ineffective. Instead of going 99 water for this spell, divide 50/50 between water and the element which is YOUR counter. The element which is strong against water is earth. So; 75-76 water (big damage against MOST enemies, except water enemies). 75-76 earth (when you notice your damage is low, enemy is probably water type, so use a high end earth wizardry for those). Edit: for weapons just use whatever has highest scaling with those virtues, stack elemental damage, 50/50 between ice/earth attack, etc.
@@Willis_war yeah you will still do decent enough damage, but noticeably less damage against the resistant bosses, some are outright immune. There's that late game boss with whip and shield, who uses ice (forget his name) but an all ice op setup will do shit there. Just makes sense to have split between 2 virtues so can hit bosses like that with earth.

You know you get the stat bonuses from things equipped even if you're not using them right? For instance you should take that toxin off of your Guding Blade and put ice attack power instead etc. Same for every slot of equipment, bows etc included.
That’s true for thing other than weapons and bows. The weapon in your hand and the bow in the ranged weapon slot will be the only ones that’s effects are used.

@mgkpraesi Weird, haven't heard that one yet. Does this happen with any other games? I suggest testing some other ones as it could be a sign the graphics card is dying.
