I didn't do any secondary build on my Yamato but once my secondaries shredded full hp shimakaze to death after I dodged its torps while focusing on another ship. Shima was less than 5km in range.

That was quite a bad luck at the end with "Second Wind" xD but also gg, never imagined you can play a second build on any japanese ship except for Shikishima :o
@WoWS Brews and Boats Yep. A long time, ago before the introduction of the German BBs, Yamato and Nagato were the go-to ships for Secondary builds.

Yeah um, the enemy was stupid. This is not a viable Yamato build.
Frankly I find that the survivability/sniper build (unique upgrade included) can do very well in terms of damage, but the "safe" approach often leads to losing map control and ultimately the match. I'm often at or near the top of the team with her, but my WR is only 55%. Maybe a secondary build would make me carry more matches...
I went full secondary on the République, and while some games I just get melted, other times I can win a flank and be decisive. The Yammy has the famous "cheek" to hide, and slow turret traverse, but she's also much more resistant to HE spam...

Hmm, never even thought about building secondaries for a Yamato since it was not build for brawling. But after watching this video, I think building secondaries on a Yamato its not a bad idea.

yes meiby secondary build yamato will work on DDs but yamato is dmg dealoer and his stupid handling and stupid dispersions makes yamato worst
yamato is one of the best brawlers there is, if you actually know what your doing
@ANUBHAV SHARMA The Shikishima has the same gun handling and cheek weakness.
She does have better rudder time, but what makes her a better brawler is those 100 mm secondaries, which have built-in IFHE (30 mm penetration).
i don't know if it's because of the secondary build but the dispersion seems awfull
It probably is directly because of that since he dumped the reduced dispersion mod for the secondary mod

@ANUBHAV SHARMA I think in DD-heavy matchmaking like he got here, it was very beneficial but generally other than that, it probably goes to waste most of the time like you said.

@ANUBHAV SHARMA The idea of a sniping bb is fucking stupid in my opinion. You are a big ass ship that should push positions, not stay behind dds and cruisars. You can use your longer range attack to get nice hits on broadside ships, but don't try to "snipe"... that's just fucking dumb as fuck. I am so tired of seeing bb players with 95% hp at the end of the game. If you still have 95% of your hp at the end, you didn't do shit all game, I don't care how much "sniping" dmg you did, the point is that you didn't create situations for others to hit well. You haven't pushed the enemy team into bad positions, you just rocked camped. Who do you want to create broadside positions for you? The dds and cruisars? No, YOU as a bb should create those positions for your fellow bbs, dds, and cruisars.
