  • In todays London Vlog I head to Pop Brixton for some South London street Food. Tis South East London Strret Food Market has become a destination for foodies with all the amazing pop up restaurants serving streetfood that have opened. I try some jerk Chicken, a taste of the Caribbean from mammas jerk. Since first opening back in May 2015 Pop Brixton is becoming a thriving destination for visitors and small start up businesses, offering affordable workspaces and restaurant spaces for innovative locals and community schemes. Its also a destination for food lovers with an impressive line up of new street food businesses hoping to launch from the pop-up shipping container village on to the London food scene.

      Hi! +J Gipson Yeah! Its a relatively inexpensive way to build a small shopping centre - the ground its on was originally a council car park.

      Oh! A private developer just built some apartments and the first floor is going to be an indoor market but no one has leased any space here in my town. So we will wait and see There are a ton of seasonal outdoor markets here in the Seattle area from April till about October/november.

    Jesus.. Brixton looks as lot calmer now. Last time I was there must have been around 2010. It felt extremity edgy back then. I didn't recall seeing loads of Hipsters then either !

      HI! +Susan S Thanks! Glad you liked the vlog. Yeah you could probably build a stable the exact same way. This was filmed a good few days ago when it was really cold but it is warmer now. Its good to know I'm making a family show - the more viewers the better. more to come each week

    Champagne and cheese?? Yuck, lol. However, very interesting place. I would rethink some of these food places names , tho. Lol love all the places you go. But may I make a suggestion? Could you add in some more historical places? You do such a fantastic job of retelling historical facts. Love your vids. Have a great week!!!

      HI! +Jessica Fearn Thanks! I actually have a planed project for the history stuff that I'm developing so it will be a part of upcoming vlogs but not necessarily the main feature for some time to come. I need to figure out cooking vlogs before I do the history series and that could take some time.

    I thought an accurate vid. more footfall etc. Places aren't closing down and being replaced with big chains, thats what i see as gentrification, all areas ,parts of the city looking the same etc., Classic was the lounge , groovy place, nice food, closed down as owner could not afford the rent. now opened as a groovy place, with good food, by someone who can, local people too. thats business, yes nightmare rents going up, same with everything...
    Granville market. That place was dead, and had been for years, just a few places opened, so didn't effect anybody there, in fact now the opposite, all the people who turn up there, all the market stalls benefit. Brixton is so much better since all these food places have popped up, brings so much more into Brixton. I have seen no displacement of black people and businesses. The opposite has happened, yes the arches nightmare ,but not all businesses there were black. Same as the new food joints, run by all walks of life , colour, and nationality. Harmony, yes, as in more people of different backgrounds coming together, colour doesn't come into it.

    Brixton is not harmonious it is clearly divided. Brixton is now baron and is clearly for the cold middle class who live in the eutopia of I have nothing to do with people not like me, and therefore if your not like me your invisible.

    • @RobertsLondon
      @RobertsLondon  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How very dare you! Middle class people don't live in Brixton, they live in Dulwich, London SW2.

    The whiteness of your video is so overwhelming and your videos are clearly for a specific audience. The displacement of black people and black business out of Brixton over the last 10 years does not factor in your uninformed pseudo sociology. 'Evolution of community involvement for revolution.' What community are you referring to and revolution? Harmony for you equals less Black people. This video is gross! I'll be sure to spread the word!

    • @RobertsLondon
      @RobertsLondon  7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      You spread the word! But maybe you should learn a little more about black history in general and particularly black history in Britain, London and Brixton before you start talking to people about it. And maybe you should be less racist when you do talk about race. It’s a story that spans in the context of Brixton over sixty years not just ten.

      Spread the word you don't need to everyone can read your a complete moron I bet you have never even been to Brixton in your life your just another batty with a chip on his shoulder I was born and bred in coldhabour lane I am black and so are 90% of my friends and we all love Brixton now more then when it was a ghetto. The community is very strong and still predominantly ethnic and we all love the nightlife and feel safer going out particularly at night now then 10 years ago you racist fool.

    • @kellyc2425
      @kellyc2425 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Antoine Rogers you're fairly stupid and lack even a basic understanding of race relations and history.
