- REYNAULDS.COM presents an amazing video on the new Hans Peter Porsche Märklin Super Layout. During our May 2015 REI TOUR we had a chance to visit this incredible layout and Märklin museum.
In Anger-Aufham Bavaria just before the Austrian border near Salzburg, Hans-Peter Porsche an avid collector of toys decided to build a 250 thousand square foot museum to house his amazing toy collection. Hans-Peter Porsche is the grandson of Ferdinand Porsche the founder of Porsche Automobile Company. The museum opened in June of 2015, the museum is called “Dream Werks”. Museum features his extensive collection of model trains, tin toys, stuffed animals, cars, planes and boat models. The museum also features one of the largest Marklin layouts in Europe, this fantastic new layout took over two years to build.

I myself model "N scale" (space wise) but it has expanded into 3 rooms and hope to go into the family in the basement as we do not use it anymore, this would give me my dream layout I have always wanted. I have had a tour where people from all over the world have come to my home to view the layout. There is a drastic size between your layout and mine, you should be very proud of what you have accomplished so far as I can see you advancing beyond what you have now, good luck to all the people involved, thanks for sharing you layout.
Wow overwhelming layout! Pretty impressive Marklin trains and an immense amount of track running on numerous levels. Hard to imagine how long it took to build. The lighting is something else as is the moving sky and the storms! Very impressive.
The owner of the layout is Hans-Peter Porsche the grandson of Ferdinand Porsche the founder of Porsche Automobile Company. I guess if your last name is Porsche you can do great things right?

Its pronounced Por-sha like Greek Goddess Portia. I guess after owning Porsche's you get tired of people butchering the name. Amazing Layout and Museum.

Pretty nice layout, that's for sure. But the largest Märklin train layout in the world....??? NO WAY !!! Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg is MUCH bigger, has for more trains and far more square yards of diorama. Judging by what I see, MW is maybe several times larger than this !! MW has over 10 miles of track in Märklin rails, HO scale, making THAT one the largest model railroad setup in HO scale. Nothing else comes even close. And still they keep on building. If you like this Porsche Museum layout, you REALLY should check out Miniatur Wunderland's layout......!!!!! Google this : General Wunderland facts. And see for yourself.
We have been to Miniatur Wunderland many times and we also have some nice videos on the layout. However Miniatur Wunderland is no longer a Marklin layout, all the Marklin track was replaced with 2-Rail DC track. The 3-Rail Marklin track did not hold up because they run there trains 12 hours a day. The Marklin AC pickup shoes wore out all the track. Now it is a DC Roco, Fleischmann, Bemo, Brawa and Hag layout.
????..........10 miles of track........?????? Replaced......???????? Wow........ It must have been a great day for them, when they decided to rebuild the entire system..!! They also must have tackled the trains. I am not sure the digital system for AC trains will work on an DC system? Thanks for the info. This clears up some questions I had.
