In some of our installations we used up to 80 meters cable without any problem, but for longer distances we give power to the cameras locally. For example we installed cameras in a house and the customer wanted to add also 2 cameras in a storage room. The distance between the storage room and the DVR (house) were more than 100 meters. So we used 1 utp cable for the video signal but we installed a DC Power Supply (with battery backup) inside the storage room in order to give power to the 2 cameras.

How could I use a V+ and V- pair coming in (ie. as the input), and translate it to a more 'user friendly' output (like HDMI)? Can I use the balun to have the signal run the other way, and then plug the coaxial into a converter? Thanks :)
I often wondered how UTP long runs don't lose voltage since the wire guage on utp is so thin. The doubling up of a PAIR to each pole of the power feel is a great idea i think. Minimizes the line loss due to thin wire.
@@haydnthomasfilmscorporate1553 because the voltage on video line is lower but yes, you can double the video if you consider it as long as you still have another pair of wires unconnected
Because the camera's do not pull a big load (amperage). Electrical load is the cause of voltage drop. A wire can be run for miles and if nothing is connected to it you'll have the same voltage at both ends. If you start connecting items to it at the end of the wire you will eventually see voltage drop.

Two pairs are always better than one. CCTV with two pairs in the balun gives a certain amount of redundancy in case one pair breaks. This is especially relative and important when installs are carried out in this configuration in cold countries. Friend.. if I connect several IP cameras via ethernet cable, will that make my internet a little slower?... I understand that Wi-Fi cameras do make the Wi-Fi internet slower, but I don't know if I should do it via ethernet also make it slower
Yes all cameras are working! And also if your customer wants to change the cameras from analog to IP you will have just to terminate the UTP Cable with RJ45 connector. Also with utp cable you can connect two analog cameras at the same time.
Question… you didn't use a pair of the ethernet cable. Do you think I can use a single ethernet cable to connect two cams to the dvr? Of course I have to share the two pairs for the power supply of the two cams and, if the second cam is in a different position from the first, I have to open the ethernet cable and remove the pair of the second cam. What do you think about it?

Hello there! I want to know if I can apply this type of connection for my analog camera to connect it to my NVR. So the idea is to have only one end of the UTP cable with video balun and the other end of the cable to have RJ45 to connect to the switch. Would that work????
300m it is a long distance! I don't remember to have tested in a distance like this. For more than 100meters i try to connect the power supply closer to the camera.

Of course not! We are using junction boxes. Check this video : th-cam.com/video/LDd0dk5riUM/w-d-xo.html This is an IP camera but the junction box is the same.
With 1 UTP you can connect up to 2 cameras : For example : Brown Pair --> DC + and Blue Pair --> DC - for both cameras, Orange Pair --> Video Signal Camera 1 and Green Pair --> Video Signal Camera 2
Cat 6 cable not designed for analog camera care-full DC + - and stripes better keep in middle of wire so its will not move down incase if some one pulled hardly
nice way if you want to save some money from the cables.. but what happens to HD cameras with 3 or 5 Megapixels? you may have loss in image quality. for long distances you can use a dvr that gets 2 or 4 extra ip cameras so you don t have to use signal cable at all.. for any other installation i think that nothing is compared with the classic coaxial camera cable.
I haven't noticed any image loss even in higher megapixels cameras. The only problem with long distance it's the DC Power. I agree about the coaxial cables but with the UTP cable it's easy to upgrade your system from analog to IP while with the coaxial you can't.
@@PoseidwnTech it depends on what type of system you want to build. best thing you mentioned is that at long distances you can use an additional power suply pluged where the camera is located. no power loss at all.. At my location nobody is using ip cameras because at a 24mbps connection the upload speed is 1mbps an the download 13. only a few locations have faster internet than this. the dvr's also downgrade the resolution so the image flows properly. only hikvision dvr's run pretty well
For the analog cameras there is no difference, but the idea of using UTP cables in analog cameras is in order to make a future proof installation and to be easy to convert your analog system to ip. So it is better to use Cat6.

What is the max distance with these baluns?
These baluns are 4K Passive HDCVI Balun from dahua and according to their site : "Transmission Distance at 4K: 200 m (656 ft)" us.dahuasecurity.com/?product=4k-passive-hdcvi-balun

In such a connection can both audio and video works?
This depends on the camera and DVR, so yes both video and audio can work!

Normally i use following: Video balun green for + whithe green for - and for supply brown and blue for + and white brown and white brown for - . The orange and orange white i don't use it. Every single cable for one camera and i puted 4 in every corner. I think that's the way for good connection and no interferences

Those adapters look really horrible, are you putting them into some boxes or are you leaving them outside the camera, exposed to the elements?
Of course not! We are using junction boxes. Check this video : th-cam.com/video/LDd0dk5riUM/w-d-xo.html This is an IP camera but the junction box is the same.

what is atype of cable
UTP Cat6
U have given one cc camera connection sir. 2 or more how to give power connection sir
With 1 UTP you can connect up to 2 cameras : For example : Brown Pair --> DC + and Blue Pair --> DC - for both cameras,
Orange Pair --> Video Signal Camera 1 and Green Pair --> Video Signal Camera 2

Cat 6 cable not designed for analog camera care-full DC + - and stripes better keep in middle of wire so its will not move down incase if some one pulled hardly
For that reason we are using cable ties in the video balun and the power plug.

Bad idea bro, for video signal you must use coaxial cable for better video quality especially if you run long cable
I agree, but with a UTP cable can support analog cameras with video baluns and IP cameras.
nice way if you want to save some money from the cables.. but what happens to HD cameras with 3 or 5 Megapixels? you may have loss in image quality. for long distances you can use a dvr that gets 2 or 4 extra ip cameras so you don t have to use signal cable at all.. for any other installation i think that nothing is compared with the classic coaxial camera cable.

It depends on the camera. There are cameras that do not require extra cables.

terimakasih informasinya, mau tanya apakah ada perbedaan kualitas video menggunakan kabel utp cat5e atau cat6?
For the analog cameras there is no difference, but the idea of using UTP cables in analog cameras is in order to make a future proof installation and to be easy to convert your analog system to ip. So it is better to use Cat6.

I did the same to my system but the picture ballun overheated. Where is the problem?
Maybe in the quality of the baluns or because of high voltage.

Ilang meter po supported ung cat5?
