    ABOUT THIS VIDEO
In this video we discuss simple stretches to fix foot pain. You'll learn two stretches that fixed my plantar fasciitis foot pain, and one strengthening exercise that will help you relieve and prevent foot pain in the future. These stretches and exercises don't require you to stretch your calves and ankle muscles. These foot pain stretches don't even target your feet, even though the results will help your feet!
I used to get intense heel pain in the morning every time I got out bed. Walking down the street hurt my feet. When I discovered these hip stretches and exercises fixed my foot pain, I couldn't believe it.

Your a legend, two years I’ve been suffering with plantar fasciitis been to two different podiatrists, spent a fortune on orthotics, etc to no avail I was at my wits end. I tried your exercises and OMG the difference..turns out it was my hips! Cannot thank you enough!

I have been suffering for a year now. I am one week in on these tips. It works. Thank you so much. I am now convinced most of these foot issues can be helped by paying attention to the entire chain, especially the hips.

I've been having plantar fasciitis for months. I did your very first exercise and the pain was gone almost immediately, but of course the real test was the following morning after waking up....voila! No pain!!! 🥳🥳🥳
    Thank you very much Matt!!!

Oh Thankyou so much for your bizarre fix. I have battled plantar fasciitis for 9months, trying all the other options….massage balls, orthodics, bare feat shoes, calf stretches and strengthening, cut out running and sport….to No or little benefit. Once I stretched out my hip flexors I noticed the pain was gone….it came back quote soon after but I though why?? Well I was sitting on my arse again in front of that computer or on a plane or driving a car causing my hip flexors / core to be tight again. But once I stretch it out the heel pain disappears. I can run again !!! Thankyou so much!!! I paid so much on doctors and podiatrist fees, X-rays, ultrasounds, stupid stability shoes, crappy show inserts….OMG 10 second stretch shows the problem.

Eureka!! That's why my plantar fascitis went away. I tried everything and nothing worked then I began ignoring it and just continued to increase training mobility and the problem faded away on its own. That is so fascinating! Thank you for bringing this to our awareness.❤

Found this channel a year ago when I thought I might need surgery for my hip pain, which was a terrifying thought. The pain was so bad I had even switched to a different car because I couldn't use the clutch anymore. Then after a couple years, the pain started on my other hip. Following a different video you made for that issue fixed it completely. Years of pain and it was gone. I couldn't believe the solution was so simple. As long as I keep up with those exercises a couple times a week, the pain doesn't return. Lately, I've been having more and more problems with my feet "plantar fasciitis", I was told. After just the first attempt at the first two exercises in this video, I found the relief to be amazing. And again, a couple times a week, and the pain is no more. Thank you so much! I'll just add that I've always been physically active, lifted weights, and thought myself to be in good shape. Obviously, there are areas that have been neglected, and these issues seem to be cropping up as I get older. Thank you again for all the work you put into these videos. They are very well done and easy to follow. I enthusiastically recommend your channel to anyone I hear complaining about the issues you cover.

Dealing with a year old injury, wherein I broke my sacral bone and damaged the sciatic nerve. Significant muscle atrophy because of pain induced inactivity. Just recently having a flare up of plantar fasciitis and the shin pain caused from favoring the heel. Finally realized that the whole thing has shortened my hamstring.
So when I saw this video come up on my home page, it made a whole lot of sense to me. Thank you SO much for answering SO many questions in one video!!
BTW I'm 70, otherwise very healthy and previously very strong, so this last year's unprecedented pain, lack of strength and mobility was causing me to feel like my body had betrayed me. Thanks for showing me the way back!!

I then worked at a garden center where I was moving different ways all the time and the foot problems cleared up quickly. Now many years later I have a problem hip and I can tell cramps & pain I get in my leg & foot are coming from my hip.

Talking about FOOT PAIN. A friend of mine was having a lot of foot pain. He went to a neurologist and was diagnoses with foot neuropathy and given all kinds of drugs for it. Didn't help much. After many months he finally wet to a FOOT DOCTOR. The Doctor found a small PEBBLE in his foot. Once removed. No more pain. Simple things make all the difference.

Interesting u should say that.. I remember having foot pain for years and on daily painkillers, one day I walked around a field barefoot on the grass, it was a 15 Mins walk then I sat for an hour with feet on the ground barefoot.. I kid u not.. I had no pain whatsoever for the following 2 months!
I belive it's was a combination of foot stretching and GROUNDING my feet, body to the earth.

I simply went barefoot 98% of the time for 4 years. Initially I needed to wear gel heel pads when static on my trade stall, especially on hard ground. But after a few months I dispensed with those. I kept a pair of soft slip on shoes in the car for the refuse tip, horse stables, builders merchants and the like, as well as any time I was challenged to wear something on my feet for insurance purposes in particular buildings.
Now back in low heel boots for 4 years and still no pain. One day I may afford some barefoot boots for dog walking! 😊

Just watching you start with hips. I’ve had plantar fasciitis and arcillies pain in both feet for a few years now on and off. No one really looked into the cause - just got given a bunch of the usual to do. I always thought it was weird it was both legs-and it would often be irritated from doing nothing.
Recently I got a hip injury so was working on stretching and mobility in the area - 90% of the pain for both issues went away.

That last tip about barefoot shoes is what solved ALL of my foot problems … and I owe it to Upright Health … Matt tipped me over the edge so to speak and I tried them out over a year ago. Be gentle and go slow, of course, but I dove right in like an idiot - and suffered no consequences at all! PS: I have been trying these exercises, and my butt and hamstrings feel much better and a little bit stronger.

If the pain is in your heel, worst when you take your first step in the morning, bad when you get up from sitting, not so bad after you’ve walked a bit, then you have plantar fasciitis. The first step in the morning will tell you. Stabbing pain in the heel.

Tin Man Here. HI all. Been a while. I'm sure my phone is talking to your phone Matt cause my plantar fash flared up about a week ago. This morning I wake up to your vid on how to work your plantar fasciitis. Timely! Yes I've done the lacrosse ball and pinch the heel and though I do hip flexor stretches every day and the "four", I will double and triple those efforts. And after a summer of almost daily visits to the gym, this Tin Man is becoming less of a Tin Man. I do your morning workout from the FAI fix every single day. In this ever changing world in which we live, I hope you continue to keep doing what you are doing for some time yet. Gracias

I did these exercises after trying the traditional remedies and I agree about minimal shoes and an ex runner .. so I did the stretches and then I got a burning sensation in the fasciitis in the outside of my heel. I will do the stretching you recommended and I’ve become sedentary lately and that’s what brought this on again plus I’m detoxing and believe oxalate dumping has brought this issue back after years of healing. Thank you for reminding me to stretch in this manner.

YAAAAS! I've been battling plantar fasciitis about 9 months now. At first, I was trying to avoid being hard on my feet. After a few months of being careful with no improvement, I just "gave up" and returned to my regular martial arts training and stretching and stance work and, lo and behold, I forgot I had a PF! My feet are way happier when I am working my hips and stretching my big muscles around my pelvis and back and legs. Also note- martials arts is BAREFOOT. I think the recommendations to wear orthotics and extra cushioning and TLc are totally off. So, like, YEAH, I totally agree with you!

Hey! I just want to say thank you. This fixed my fasciitis. I was wondering why sometimes after doing yoga my fasciitis disappeared, and now I realise it’s because there we do hip stretching exercises.
I’m now stretching before I go to bed, and I hold the full pigeon pose for a while, and when I wake up, I do the stretches in your video.
    My fasciitis is gone!!!

For the modified pigeon stretch at 6:50 for those with really stiff hips- it can also be done on an incline bench for those who have access :)

Brilliant info. This helps. Occasional roller hockey & hiker climber. I was sore getting back into it.
I’ve been walking barefoot at & around my property since 2020 work from home. Now I’m not so used to my old work dress shoes I have to wear. 6 hrs here or there

For those who must do the pigeon stretch while standing, you can use a chair either with arm rests or not. A kitchen chair is probably the easiest. Stand to the side of the chair and grip the back or the chair for balance. Put your leg sideways on the chair as shown in the video. Keeping a straight back try to bend forward. I used to use this stretch for an injury years ago and it helped me so that now I am able to do the stretch as shown in the video or as the yoga pose.

Thanks for these helpful videos. I am just wondering if these stretches are ok for someone who has had partial knee replacement?

Since I was a youth I rode horses but I always had hip problems and know this from sitting on fence posts and the pain it caused, but then a truck accident being tboned in 2010 I have been on a quest to fix this . I have splints, boots ,taped ,iced ,rolled and everything but a year ago I found your old video and it was magical and now another video and it makes huge sense and brings instant results and really takes that pain off the bottom of foot . Saved this time in my email ❤thank you much appreciated for your time and efforts to help others with this painful foot condition.

Yes! You are so right! I have just started doing some of these stretches and it has relieved the pain a little. I need to do the stretches more often AND consistently, so it lasts longer with no pain. I shared this with a friend. Thank you!❤

Immediately can feel the difference. Stretching the hip flexors and glutes brought more relief than all the foot stretching that really seemed not to be at the root of it all. Thanks 🙏

Love ur content & informative delivery. Question: Does the plantar fascia become dry & brittle like a dry sponge as we age? Do u recommend minimalist footwear for seniors? Or, Oofos?

Thank you thank you thank you you’ve made it clear to me I’m not stretching nearly enough or sometimes not at all after long cycling workouts, which is probably the reason I can’t shake this plantar fasciitis😢 great tips❤. I am going to try these 🎉 I’ve got old-school training techniques and theory stuck in my head that no pain no gain😮😅😊

I saw a Massage Therapist/Physio Therapist yesterday and he told me exactly the same thing, he said my Plantar Fasciitis is coming from my hip. He gave me some exercises to do. The first one you showed here I did and I feel amazing... I’m going to add this to my exercise regime.
I wear a uniform which includes a certain type of Ladies shoe which make this very tricky for me.

Cool ideas! I am a long distance hiker and had knee problems the first 2000 miles I hiked. Then I noticed a correlation with my knee pain and my pack hip belt. I stopped using hip belts and now have done 8000 miles without knee pain. I say this because the hip stretches you recommend actually immediately started to help with the plantar fasciitis I am dealing with now and I didn't think to loosen my hips. Hiking across New Zealand and it has a ton of road walking which my body isn't used to. Thanks again!
