- This is an updated pre-trip demonstration on a 2017 IC Conventional school bus. The order in which the pretrip is presented, is new but the material has not changed. These changes are for the state of Ohio, please check with your local test site for your states specific requirements.
I passed my class C in Long Island and my class B in Florida’ watching Theresa’s videos and she’s Fantastic and I live in Florida Now pretty much everything she is doing is the same as we are doing here in our state. If you’re looking to really get your license, she’s the best there is, Thank You you’re Fantastic and We all love you❤️
Thank you for your kind words and comment! I’m thrilled to learn the videos have been helpful for you!

Therese, what is a "Noise Suspension" button used for railroad tracks? I drive a class C but studying for a B and I can't figure out what that is. Thank you
Yes, the noise suppression button cuts all power to fans, heaters, defrosters, and radios, for a railroad crossing.
Great video Therese and good to see you do it on your old bus 120
Thanks, Cody! It’s a great, old(a relative term) bus.
@@SchoolBusSass hey I love these videos I’m the one from the premiere a few months back this is awesome what you do you saved my driver from not losing her license because she forgot some stuff don’t ever stop making videos!
I miss driving the school busses. I haven't driven one in 4 years. I do the truck driving now.

Can't wait to see the new videos of the school bus pre trip inspection.
Ohio wants the governor cut off test done first
State of Maryland made a change to school bus Pre-Trip test. You do the Air Brake Test First. In Maryland you get 45 minutes to do the entire Pre Trip.
Ours is changing as well… still only 30 minutes though
Great job with the video.
Glad you liked it!
Excelente therese saludos 🤗 🤗 desde Colombia bendiciones
Greetings, Domingo...thank you!
In Ohio you now have to do governor cut off test first
Yes you do
@@SchoolBusSass kinda weird isn't it. Like doing it twice
Great video ,you forgot front bumper and rear , grill, and air filter.
Did not forget… the three items mentioned are not required elements of the pretrip for the state of Ohio
Over tight lug nuts would show shiny filings on the threads.

Q
Threes aways good to see u and Mrs Dona and Mrs Diane from 58 bus driving has always been fascinating to me and I hope to be a bus driver like you guys
Alex, I love that you are fascinated with school bus driving! I will be cheering for your success to become a driver one day! :) You have two outstanding drivers, Alex! :)
I ride a handycap BBV
Great video! You forgot the front tires can't be re-capped.
Indeed…
Thanks for the feedback
@SchoolBusSass you're welcome. This helped a lot with my recertification. I work at Valley View. 😊😊😊 keep up the videos. Love them!
Thank you for the update. :) Curious... do they in Ohio require it be be done in this new order? Also wondering do you happen to know the reason for the change?
The examiners want the brake test completed first, then, they it is my understanding that the rest can be done in no particular order.
I don’t know exactly why, but, possibly to expedite the testing process for the examiners. If you fail the brake test, the pretrip ends at that point. But that is purely speculation on my part.
I felt my pre-trip test if someone know what is part A and B in the test please let me know.
So good that they don’t know where the parts going if you need a new part for the bus you should ask him I see the bus that fixes the buses you should ask Macy please get the part right
Testing the compressor 1-3 minutes at idle with governor cut out sounding between 100/120 psi. Or fast test 1800 rpm 45 seconds from 85psi to 100psi. There is more to the slack adjuster. Chock wheel, release spring break pull push rod and no more than one inch play.
State of Texas
Those particular items are no longer required items for the OH pretrip exam.
. Slack adjusters on all new busses automatically adjust…still, there would be no more than an inch play if tugged on.
Hmmm... so if an OBI has been training someone a certain way, or in a certain pattern, for their pre-trip, but the OBI didn't know about this change to the test (air break test first in Ohio) and the OBI doesn't use TH-cam to find out important info like this, and it's not on the Ohio BMV website, well, since this whole song and dance is based upon memory-repetition, it's likely that both the OBI and trainee are going to be in for quite the shock when they arrive at the testing facility, correct? And if the trainee fails, then he/she must pay AGAIN to re-take it, correct?
$eems a bit $ketchy, in my opinion. But...maybe that's just me.
Hi Garwood, the majority of OBI’s should have been informed at the most recent series of OBI preservice meetings. Testing centers are also supposed to give some leeway until all of the changes are published in the CDL manuals and training is completed at all third party test sites. Your OBI can contact your local test location for details or updates. I recommend state run sites over third party sites. Tests cost less and are far more consistent.
Is the order of the brake tests themselves any different or have you always instructed new drivers in this order thank you
In Ohio, the examiner’s would like you to begin with the air brake test. Static(no pressure on the service brake) , heavy pressure (3psi), then fanning for the emergency light and sound features (above55) and the parking brake to set itself (between 20-40).
Make sure you have at least 100 lbs of pressure in your air tanks, before starting the brake tests.
Parking brake and service brake can be done when the tanks rebuild pressure.
In the video, a safe start is shown first, as well as parking brake and service brake tests.
They will accept as shown, until further changes, to the pre-trip, are implemented. Potentially, around August or September.
@@SchoolBusSass thank you I like the order you have shown, it is easier for me, plus you can start discussing the interior while the air is rebuilding in the tanks
OK, not trying to be a smart ass, but the manual and a test question is when should you press the service brake when the parking brake "spring brake" is engaged. The answer is never, but you did it for the first test.
parking, service & leakage first, they don’t do gauges or anything till u do break tests
Correct…
They are accepting this order until all of the pretrip changes are mandated.
Can you do more school bus pre trip inspection videos on different model buses we haven't seen yet
We don’t have any other options
epic ~catch ya later.Therese! =)
Terrific, I'll be there. :)
Any tips on how to remember the pre-trip? Im struggling
Watch the video, as often as a child would watch their favorite Disney movie. Also, much of the pretrip is repetitive phrasing, and lastly, do the pretrip in person with someone timing you, so you know where your focus needs to be.
sorry i'll keep goingrecedenI'm sorry, I'm continuing the previous message, I was saying I'd really like to see how you keep everything accelerated very hard, but I've seen that it's impossible to keep everything accelerated very hard, strong
Not going to happen…

Me too
I like school busses there because of the state id

?
Illegal welds
Yep, only factory welds.
For those who are testing this cdl brake check is wrong. Not only do you have say what psi your warning sounds and your parking brake pops you have to give exact psi numbers when they do. I know I failed today due to these ridiculous changes they made. Once you step out of the bus though you are done. Her light check at the end after exiting would have got her also unfortunately 😢
Depends on the state…the changes will take some getting used to and adjusting in pretrip process. Good luck going forward.
@@SchoolBusSass I’m in Ohio and thank you. I had a state inspector there also. I’ve heard a lot of bad things about him and he didn’t disappoint!!
