Lead is an interesting topic I have two different saws in each one prefers different lead I find however that if you set your lead by experimenting in a cut so that the teeth are not touching on the backside then there should be an air gap for the saw plate. Your saw wobbled a bit once before, I would also check your collars and bearings for play. Keep at it Shannon, some days sawmilling are like that.
Yeah, we checked the collars and they are flat. It may take a while before I can get that fixed. I'll try and video when I get that done. Thanks for watching and commenting
You'll have some of that on these big jobs. From the sound, that saw needed a doc before you stood in cut, its hammering the guides. Brett did a little demonstration for me and the other Don awhile back. He quickly passed a flame over the eye of a saw and we watched it bow up off his bench and then lay back down as that tiny bit of heat moved through it. Couldn't have changed the temperature but a few degrees. Well, lunch is over and mamma won't be happy when she see's pitch on these new jeans. Lt's pretty out, I better go make em look really old :D.
Hope everything is alright with the saw and you can get it fixed quickly. As for the edger, like life it's an ongoing learning process. Just be safe, aware, and take your time and everything will fall in place. With much respect, and admiration, keep the faith. Remember if you don't try then you'll never know. 😊😊😊
When your down getting your saw tensioned. Get them to help you with some lessons on the guide pin. I would have really liked to see how you have your pin set. But you had them Out already
Mike sawed alot with that saw i watched all his old vids befor he passed we run a sawmill of our own... your saw is running out of the log as much as mike sawed on it id lay money the tension is ok an probably everything else some tips iv got that will likely help you is to make sure an i mean make very sure the log side corners of ur saw bits if u are running steel bits are very sharp an swedged correctly you cant have any rounded corners is will not saw otherwise #2 if u are hand filled them make for sure your filled them straight an not leaning to one side as that will steer the saw and cause the same probables an the hook angle needs to remain about the same as a new bit running carbide bits helps alot with muddy logs #3 the guide pins need to be set right an close to the saw as possible the way to do it is to loosen the guide pins out start the saw an get it up to speed an do it befor the saw has ever ran that day not after its got hot an when its up to speed start screwing them in an set them close as u can without touching it if it chatters a little thats ok not great but will work most do on old mills hope that helps when a saw is running happy ur log will be what i call free in the cut sawyers will know what i mean an also when its right it will be pretty quiet till it starts to dull a grinder really helps for beginners to sharp steel bits
@@ethanmullins7585 I sure appreciate it, Ethan. Yeah, Marc on Wild West Sawmill says my pins are out of adjustment. I had Brett show me how to adjust them correctly. 😮😮 U will have 2 take the saw blade off and take it 2 a saw shop the blade will have 2 be re hammered again 2 straighten it out it's the only way it will run true 👍 😊 and straight again / the saw blade is out of balance that's why it won't run true 😮😮 and most Sawyers like a 1/4 inch /4 lead way the saw blade U have 2 check W a straight edge W a feeler gauge it shouldn't go under it and any a bit of stick or bark either will do the same thing it will heat the saw blade up 😮😮 U have get that out of there any time ⏲️ 😮 U see 👀 😊 that that's a NO NO indeed it makes 4 alot of work in the end 😮😮 OMG 12 8 2O24

The sawblade has been flopping around between cuts for awhile now, only stopping when put into a cut.

hi there interesting to watch , let us know what is found , thanks john
@fricknjeep Bret said the saw was fine, but the problem was between the saw and the steering wheel.
Needs to turn the board bark side up so he knows what he’s edging off
