So glad you are enjoying our videos and thanks you for such a nice compliment - it is appreciated very much :) We have a lot more episodes coming your way as well, so stay tuned. Thanks again for taking time to write and good luck on the water
Thanks for your feedback and we totally understand, so no worries :) Hope you enjoy your summer and that you have a great year on the water. All the best to you and good fishing!
Hi Posty - if you are going to keep them, you can slide your hand under the gill cover (not in the gills) or you can grab hold of the tail with one hand and then grab under the head/neck area, with other hand :)
Hey ivo today i went out for pike and used the python darter first time since i bought em. They're very nice and the action is great. I just had one pike chased my lure till shoreline and changed his mind as it saw me
They will both work for you - the lure will catch aggressive pike where as the live bait will catch both aggressive and lethargic Pike. Glad to hear you are new to fishing and you may enjoy our Thundermist Fishing Tips web site as it has plenty of articles and videos on many topics - when you go to the site, you will see a search bar on the left hand side, so just type in what you're interested in and the choices will appear :)
Hi Leandro - there are many scents on the market and Berkley does make some and they do work - the scent creates a scent trail and allows fish to follow it and hit :) You can add the scent to your plastic bait, which would be best, or you can even rub it on your lure if you want.
I saw the rowers in the back, and began looking for a location. when you said Martin dale i got so excited! I have been fishing there for pike and came to TH-cam for some tips. who knew i would find the exact waters where i am!? thank you!
Hi Daniel, the Python Darters are actually designed to accommodate a bait, and the added bait will not impede the action, but will enhance the action so you end up with 2 actions in one lure. Between the action, the beads and buck tail, it's proves to be very enticing for fish to hit :)
We have an excellent "jigging for walleye" on the drift, video coming up probably in about 4 or 5 weeks. Can't release it yet because in it, we are using our brand new jig which has not been released yet, but it will be soon. Thanks for being a fan and when the jigging for walleye video comes out, I hope you like :)
Hi Lucas - if it is really weedy, it may be difficult to use a jig, but a jig would have been ideal - however, you can also try using a slip bobber to fish deep, or just a regular bobber to fish suspended up high. Another thing you can try is change from night crawlers to minnows for bait :)
Yes - the Piton Darters are excellent for trout - the smaller size is best which is the 3/8 oz size and I can let you know that Thundermist Lure Co is coming out with a new smaller size - 1/4 oz Python Darter - later this year and it will be amazing for trout as it is the perfect size :) Use silver on sunny days in clear water and use the gold on cloudy days or in stained water.
Hi Carver, Try using 10 lb fluorocarbon line and if you are looking for better hook sets, Thundermist Lure Co will be releasing a brand new jig in a few days, which will produce solid hook sets, so stay tuned :)
When trolling for walleye, the Viper Spoons work fantastic (size SP1 or SP2) when jigging, the Boa Jig'r works great and in about 3 - 4 weeks, Thundermist will have a new jig head which will be great for bass & walleye etc :) The Viper Spoons and boa jig'r will also catch you nice bass and if you like casting, the Python Darter is amazing for bass< pike and shallow water walleye :)
Size can make a difference - the larger size Python Darters are great for aggressive fish - glad you are enjoying our shore videos and you are going to love using the Flexi Jigs as they really are fantastic :)
One effective set up is to run about 2 1/2 feet to your sinker and then about 2 feet to your hook or lure. Just make sure your sinker is heavy enough to keep touching the bottom and you'll have the perfect rig, ready for a great day on the water :)
Pike LOVE weeds, they will hang in the weeds and bust out and hit food as it goes by. Some of their favorite foods are bluegill as well as perch so anything that mimics a wounded baitfish is perfect. I have good luck with jerk baits such as a rapala husky jerk or xrap. I also recommend a large twister tail (5-6 inch range). Good luck
Glad you enjoyed the pike video and when using the Python Darter, we do not turn down the barb. Glad you landed those nice chain pickerel, without a wire lead :) Also, the new jig is going to be released this week - if you are a subscriber, you will be the first to know as their will be a release video. You are going to love this jig, as there is nothing out there like it and they work great! Stay tuned :)
Hi Matt - in this pike episode, we were fishing in the late spring and the road is called Lakeport road which turns into lock street as it enters Port Delhousie :)
Sounds like some nice pike in your area :) If they are not hitting lures, they may not be aggressive at that time, so switch over to jigging or live bait :)
Great to hear from you in Nebraska :) The Python Darter would be an excellent lure choice to use for Pike - you can also use spinner baits and Viper Spoons as well as crank baits. Pike are very aggressive and will hit a variety of baits and it's the enticing action of the Python Dater which triggers many hits! (viper Spoons are best used while drifting or trolling)
Ivo if you find where puce river is its near the Detroit river it's about 20 minutes away which is by Belle River. If you go fishing there I recommend worms, cut bait or corn and you'll probity hook in to something
does size really matter. :) . like this shore line videos a lot. please make more. I fish mainly from shore. very rarely do I get to go out in a boat. your fexijigs look awesome. am going to order them.
Actually for pike, the silver Python Darter with a 3 or 4 inch black plastic worm would be ideal - otherwise, you can also use a spinner bait or even a top water lure :)
Ivo, do you beleive barometric pressure plays a big role in fishing? If so what tips do you have reguarding when to fish during pressure changes. And do you have any tips for fishing during scattered storms? Thanks!
HI Eric, I like to use gold on cloudy days and silver on sunny days...the chartreuse I like to use in dirty/stained water...so I like all 3 colors, but if I had to choose just one, it would be gold :)
Suggest using the Gold Python Darter with a 3 or 4 black artificial worm. When fishing dark or stained/dirty water, gold has much better reflective qualities, than for example, silver. Gold works great under these conditions and the hybrid bass will attack the rigged Python Darter :)
hi i watch your videos i like in Nebraska we have a pond about 30 ft deep and i know there are 30+inch pike i have seen them but dont know what to use for bait or line what do you recommend and i am in west Nebraska
Hey there! I would like to say I really enjoy your videos! i have a question for ya! i live in Kingston, i have spot not to far from my home i like to fish at, its a large pier and its about 100 ft long and the water is 20-20 ft, we fish out there with night crawlers but we usually only get perch, goby and bass fingerlings, its really weedy so not many lures work there, and suggestions on what we should use??? we've seen huge bass there.
Okay, thunder mist, I just bought a 12ft mach specialst rod made hy shakespeare. Will it be good for trout fishing up to around 6to10 pound rrout or not?
hey there Ivo! i just recently got into fishing, and have been shore fishing off rivers and pools here in ontario for pike. any other recommended lures for casting ? great work on the videos, really appreciate them!
thank you so much!. i love watching your videos. but i have a question, do you let the spinner bounce off the bottom or is it really deep where you are.?
Yes Ive seen them just about all =] I love your videos and I wished you posted more offten lol From the Python darters you sell on your site, would you recommend them for trout? if so, what size/color? thanks again and keep up the good work!

...sounds like an exciting day!!
you are the best. I did exactly what you did in A private lake in Canada. I got a 32in northern. Thanks Man
They will both work for you - the lure will catch aggressive pike where as the live bait will catch both aggressive and lethargic Pike. jacobvz vz So glad you enjoyed this pike episode and this locator.....the pike bite is on right now there :) Good luck on the water :)
Hi Ryan - 20 lb braided line is plenty strong and so is 20 lb steel wire leader as well :)
Hi Daniel, the Python Darters are actually designed to accommodate a bait, and the added bait will not impede the action, but will enhance the action so you end up with 2 actions in one lure. Between the action, the beads and buck tail, it's proves to be very enticing for fish to hit :)
We are in St Catharines, right where Marindale flows to Port Delhousie :)

Yes more Pike fishing would be fantastic!
Sounds like you had a great day on the water catching plenty of pike - thanks for writing in and sharing :)
Thank you for this guide. Always great information. My favorite fish to catch is the pike!!! Will definetely put these tips to use.
Hi Carver, Try using 10 lb fluorocarbon line and if you are looking for better hook sets, Thundermist Lure Co will be releasing a brand new jig in a few days, which will produce solid hook sets, so stay tuned :)
Glad you enjoyed the video Potsy and thanks for tuning in :)
Glad to hear you like the lures - they will work great for you :)
Yes - you can use this technique anywhere :)

Hi gered - have not tried that but it sounds good - I'll have to give it a try :)
Have not fished Hagg Lake yet, but we do have a few videos on trout fishing which you may enjoy watching :)
Size can make a difference - the larger size Python Darters are great for aggressive fish - glad you are enjoying our shore videos and you are going to love using the Flexi Jigs as they really are fantastic :)
I may have to pick up a few of those python darters it looks like they have a good presentation
This was in St. Catharines Ontario :) The water frrm Martindale actually runs right under the QEW

Hi Ho Bo - nice catch! Sounds like you had a great day on the water and thanks for sharing it with us!

You always fish in the most beautiful place!

You still work at tim hortons
HI Brandon - there aren't any promotions going on right now and don't think they'll be any this year
Glad you enjoyed the video and best of luck with your lure making....thats a nice hobby :)
Pike will take many types of lures & we have caught them on tube jigs, spinnerbaits, crank baits, spoons, soft plastics. :)
Happy b-day - the bass was a nice gift :)
Hi Matt - in this pike episode, we were fishing in the late spring and the road is called Lakeport road which turns into lock street as it enters Port Delhousie :)
Yes - suggest using the larger Python Darter, which is the 1 oz size and rig it with a 4 inch artificial worm - you should do great :)
this is right in St. Catharines Ontario and in fact, this body of water passes right under the QEW :)
Great to hear from you in Germany and good luck on the water :)
Hi Eric, basically, this lure/bait is good for all game fish...bass, pike, muskie, walleye etc...
Hi Ricky - the Python Darters do have great action and you are going to love using them :)
Sounds like some nice pike in your area :) If they are not hitting lures, they may not be aggressive at that time, so switch over to jigging or live bait :)

Ivo please make a walleye video with drifting it would make my day I'm a huge fan great video keep it up
When it comes to live bait, we suggest using large minnows or chubs :)
Glad you enjoyed the video :)
great vid! thanks! i was just thinking about trying to hook a pike here in montreal :)
Hi Eddy, I believe many factors effect the fishing and as far as barometric pressure, the fish always get very active just before a storm arrives :)
does size really matter. :) . like this shore line videos a lot. please make more. I fish mainly from shore. very rarely do I get to go out in a boat. your fexijigs look awesome. am going to order them.
Ivo,if you had any luck finding the puce river it is near windsor Ontario and in Lakeshore. I would use cut bait, worms or corn
Gold is great to use on cloudy days or in murky water and silver is great to use on sunny days or in clear water :)
Hi Matt - actually, with a hook line and sinker rig, you can catch just about any kind of fish, as long as you use the right bait :)
Use the Silver Python Darter on sunny days and the gold python darter on cloudy days :)
Thanks for the congrats - much appreciated! Next Flexi Jig video is expected to air next week so stay tuned :)
Hope you have a great tourney and good luck! (You are going to love using the T-Turns :)
Ivo if you had any luck finding the puce river which is 20 minutes away from windsor near belle river I would use cut bait, worms, or corn

HI Eric, I like to use gold on cloudy days and silver on sunny days...the chartreuse I like to use in dirty/stained water...so I like all 3 colors, but if I had to choose just one, it would be gold :)
We are in Canada and this pike episode was filmed in Martindale right off the QEW in St. Catharines :)
Thundermist Lures how cool! I love in Etobicoke/Toronto!
Hi Bob - if all goes well, it will be posted this week....perhaps on Thursday - it depends on our webmaster :)
What should I use for pike in shallow and very clear water? Thanks for the videos!
ok i will give it a shot as soon as i can buy a python darter thank you and should i use a 20lb braided line with 20lb steel lead on these pike
Hey Ivo, great video. How would you go about scenting your lure for pike? Do these scent sprays that Berkley make work?
Thanks for sharing your pike tips with us :)
I love using the Python Darter rigged with a 4 inch artificial worm, but you can also use spinner baits and jigs :)
Any tips on fishing for trout at Hagg lake? what type of setup would you recommend? Thanks!
Congrats on the release of the new lure BTW.
Suggest using the Gold Python Darter with a 3 or 4 black artificial worm. When fishing dark or stained/dirty water, gold has much better reflective qualities, than for example, silver. Gold works great under these conditions and the hybrid bass will attack the rigged Python Darter :)
This was in St. Catharines, Ontario, at Martindale rowing area
Glad you enjoyed the video and nice to work at Timmies :)

Okay, thunder mist, I just bought a 12ft mach specialst rod made hy shakespeare. Will it be good for trout fishing up to around 6to10 pound rrout or not?
Leeches are an excellent bait for walleye - they work great rigged on an SP1 or SP2 size Viper Spoon :)
hey there Ivo! i just recently got into fishing, and have been shore fishing off rivers and pools here in ontario for pike. any other recommended lures for casting ? great work on the videos, really appreciate them!
Could you do a video where you use viperspoons from the shore to catch bluefish and stripers?
Thanks!
thank you so much!. i love watching your videos. but i have a question, do you let the spinner bounce off the bottom or is it really deep where you are.?
What thunder mist lures will work for smallmouth, walleye(trolling and jigging) and maybe like and largemouth
Bought the silver python caught a 10 pounder third cast love the vids man
Minnows would be a good bait to use for both bass and perch, but worms will work as well :)
Hey Ivo, what is the name of that road behind you at the end of the video? Also, what month are you fishing in here?
Love your vids keep em coming. Where is martindale?
thanks
Yes Ive seen them just about all =] I love your videos and I wished you posted more offten lol
