2 yrs later, however….I have a 2022 cbr1000rr. Correct very restricted from factory. Smaller velocity stacks too. With all restrictions removed and a slip on exhaust, my cbr beats my friends tuned 2015 r1.
It actually really does vary. It comes on at certain fuel level and it depends how you ride after the light comes on that determines how long you can make that reserve last.
So I have the 2019 CBR1000RR, it has a full Yoshimura alpha exhaust system, K&N race air filter, power commander 5, and is dyno-tuned. The difference from stock is amazing. Stock is very restricted as Motonosity stated in the video he wasnt sure about how it kills the power. Honda's computer mapping is whack, when you crunch the numbers and hook it up to a computer they restrict the bikes so badly its almost sad. I have noticed with my upgrades that there is no loss of power, it is absolutely scary fast. Crank HP you get about 189HP with the 2017-2019 models. Of course you lose 20-30% power once it hits the rear wheel. With my current upgrades I am up close to 170HP to the rear wheel so crank HP im like 210-215HP.
The specs give the R1 advantage in race, but I'm leaning towards the CBR 1000 due to being more street friendly, and light and nimble. They're heavily detuned from factory, and have a lot of tuning potential. I'm not a Honda worshipper, just a big fan of the big 4 Japanese. Honda tends to compete well when it comes to light weight if not max power. I'd be a huge Suzuki fan, but they haven't been staying competitive (especially since the FINALLY redesigned Busa I waited forever for disappoints with less power). My dream-garage of bikes starts and ends with Honda (smallest is Grom and fastest will be CBR1000rr), but has Kawi and Yamaha, possibly Suzuki in between.
Definitely ride the blade. I just picked up the same 2017 a couple weeks ago. It would be dope to see your general thoughts and how it compares to the R1 and BMW.
@@dude1234522 The blades gone now. Kept it literally 2 months. Really wasn't a fan of it and the insurance was rediculous. It felt cheap and was very twitchy, had harsh vibrations, and was pretty uncomfortable. I picked up a 2016 S1000R after.

Was going to get the 2017 CBR1000RR but found out you can not change tyre size (comes out stock with 190/50 and not the 190/55) or sprockets without it interfering with the traction control etc. So got 2016 R1 instead. R1 is a great bike once ecu is flashed (especially the etv mapping), exhaust and softening up the suspension for the road.
