I love the 3 minutes Friday! and I must say the image quality is great! No direct sunlight does help. I own a Alibow FG Tatar and a Istvan Szimeiszter Ottoman, my khatra and arrow flight is much better with the Ottoman bow, and there for also accuracy. But these together with the Snake are the only bows I ever used in my life.
The tartar bow is a dedicated war bow although the sepahi was used for war its not as effective against armor and is more of a sporting bow ,I've seen pictures of some Turkish war bow and they look like a hybrid of the two
you have gone over the different bow styles and some of the different draw styles... im haveing a hard time finding different styles of holding arrows in hand thanks Armin enjoy your new range!
Yes ,3 minute Friday . I've been internet yelled at because I said a tartar bow was a turkish bow . And yelled at in same way cause the hungarian bow was a design cousin . Yet . Tartars are turkic . The tartar bow was widely used as was magyar/hungarian bows . People move, always have and ideas move with them . Cheers n keep having fun .
Tatar is a general name for various Kipchak Turks, while "Turkish" bow specifically refers to bows used by Seljuk and Ottoman Turks, or various other Oghuz Turkic tribes at the most extent. Albeit being related ethnicities, geographically they are different, hence their bows seperately evolved in different geographies, although sharing a common ancestor. So naming Tatar bows as "TurkISH" bows would be misnaming on par as calling Viking/Scandinavian longboats as "German longboats"
exelent topic, thank you for the information, it would be awesome if you can make a series of videos where you talk about each bow because as you said the line gets blurry sometimes
I gotta start checking out the recurve Turkish bows. Liking how compact they are. Would definitely carry one as a back up for the hunts I’m gonna be doing. Why? Is a compact bow and I can carry it because they are small.

could you do a comparison of Turkish and Korean bows at some point? i see allot of history books say one or the other was the most powerful in history witch do you think is more powerful/efficient?
Thank you Armin: That was very helpful, as the handle would seem most important, how it fits or fights your hand. For example, the new version of Bear takedown riser has a flat side, whereas the older version has a nicely rounded bulb, which, as it were is just the shape of the inside of my palm. So, you can get used to (the void of ) the one but it doesn't feel as naturally fitting and comfortable as the older one. Too bad Malta is so far away! Thanks, randy c
Tatars or Ottomans all came from Ancient Huns in one way or another . So i wasn't surprised for their bows to be similar in many ways their even language are still %80 similar xD One of the most effective bow design for no hesitation btw. GJ Armin. ''Subscribed allready'' Yikes

The Turkish bow is not a nice bow. It's a killing machine. For close combat. ,and leight weight arrows over a greater distance. Opposite of the English longbow who could send a heavy arrow over a great distance, that could kill man and horse.
