I've been struggling with depression and anxiety; it got really bad to the point where I felt like I was dying and was about to give up, but then I started running and working out. It really helped, I began to feel alive once again. Inspirational music like this also helps... I'm listening to 4:07 and picturing myself climbing a cliff somewhere in Africa, stumbling but then getting right back up. At 6:55 I finally reach the edge and pull myself over, and into view comes the most beautiful sunset I've ever seen in my life. 'Gonna take some time to do the things we never had' :)
Found this by accident....looked interesting...played the guitar for maybe 30 minutes in my lifetime.....can't read music. Obviously an incredible amount of effort went into the arrangement and execution. Enjoyed every note. Nicely done. Thank you.
My school has a guitar orchestra, I wish the orchestra at my school had atleast some percussion/drums because I’m a band type of kid haha😂 This was amazing to watch btw
I love your arrangement and the interpretation of your orchestra. Bravo !! I would like to obtain or buy your score. It would be very great for my students in France. I'm near Paris and I organize meetings with guitar orchestras. I thank you again. Thierry
Awesome idea, and perfectly done. Congratulations to all of you. Africa has been performed in many ways...ALL GREAT, and Guitars are a fantastic version. Forget about the comments of negativity. Remember? You can't fix STUPID. Loved it Thanks.
Dear Scott. May I ask if thera re scores available? We're working with a youth guitar orchestra, and this transcription has caught our attention and we'd gladly work the piece, given there are available scores. Cheers!
Obviously much preparation has gone into this version and all musicians are to be congratulated. But for me it was more a novelty rendition. It's the voices that make Toto's song so impressive. I note that a number of comments here negatively refer to the intro. Must admit that especially when prolonged this introduction becomes an irritant (I've watched some 5 or 6 vocal versions and all copy each other with the finger clicking etc). However, it's easy enough to skip this when viewing. Certainly in this guitar version, the 'intro' was overdone. But that shouldn't take away from the pleasure of listening to a very good guitar orchestra.
Thanks for the comment. I think that one of the things that no one really knows (and perhaps I should have put this in the description) is that the piece before this was "Fanfare for a Common Man" where all of the performers were in the rafters of this massive hall with one lone performer on stage doing tambora on the guitar creating a surround sound. All of the performers had to move from their places in the hall, get their foot stools and music, and then walk down the staircases, around the labyrinth to back stage and then enter. It seemed like the only real way to do this in a performance setting. No doubt it is quite extended on the video. (I just added this in the description)
I used to really like this song, but the internet has ruined it for me in the last 10 years. Everyone has a version of it. There's a lot of songs out there people. Let's try to diversify our listening.
Sorry, but the energy and depth of the original composition is totally lost in this version. I've found several different cover versions of this classic here on TH-cam and they retained the essence of the original, not so this interpretation. Nice try though.
I know, but it's really not the point. Stupid, thoughtless editing. Inconsiderate. I should not have to click my way through to the music. That should have already been done.
I agree. It's just a bit leaden, as if they are still learning it and not yet quite up to speed. If you want to hear this number being PLAYED, instead of merely being 'meandered through,' listen to the stunning piano rendition of Peter Bence:- th-cam.com/video/_SywaUbg5wU/w-d-xo.html Or the Perpetuum Jazzille version that's more than 10 years old:- th-cam.com/video/yjbpwlqp5Qw/w-d-xo.html
What? No horns, drums, keyboards, anything else? Amazing! Never heard it this way before, I'm liking on this.

Ahh sounds great bro. Think positive :)
I found that heroin completely alleviates the symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Gabe Powers lmfao
What is funny about that? Both you and Gabe are idiots.
Interstellar Lapis & the CCCP I just see this and I hope you’re doing better
Never seen a guitar orchestra. That I awesome!!!
Fantastic. Greetings from Nigeria West of Africa
Very beautiful composition n play ... Bravoooo
The Best cover!BRAWO!!!!
Those of you complaining about the intro....You may want to listen to toto's song....as it starts with a rain storm......it's part of the song.
actually it was inspired by the Choir who performed this song also .. Perpetuum Jazzile Choir
Hard knocking does not sound like a rainstorm !
@@ramishrambarran3998 Maaan, cmon, it kinda does. :P

Still loving this song - any rendition - in 2020...!
But can they play smoke on the water simultaneously?

Song starts at 4:00
What a wonderful intro. Truly wonderful.
I guess that intro sounds like the rains down in Africa, idk, I've never been there.

"How many guitar you want there"
"yes."
This the channel Ludwig Göransson mentioned?
Did anyone hear the cough? 5:22
Straordinari!

Nice job-I like your version
I thought it was heavy rain outside. Damn
I want at that pipe organ!
Realmente admirable el talento de estos músicos, mis respetos para ellos y TOTO..y África always always. Saludos desde Lima Perú.
this is good
Magnific!!
WOW
Klinkt erg goed.......MOOI!!
Why is the guy on the extreme left playing the guitar upside down
he's left handed
Ever hear of left handed people? We exist
You seem surprised... The great Paul McCartney is a left handed guitar player and so are lot more out there.
Guess he is left handed.
Beautiful!
I really hate when people are late!
Разбира се, те закъсняват в метафоричен смисъл!
Of course, they are late in a metaphorical sense!
Note the southpaw all to the left.
I used to really like this song, but the internet has ruined it for me in the last 10 years. Everyone has a version of it. There's a lot of songs out there people. Let's try to diversify our listening.
aaaaand the winner is Andy McKee :) .. this one also good anyway
Zespol Africa
If a three minutes song is going to take over 4 minutes to get started and is over ten minutes long it should have been far better than this !
Yeah it pissed me off waste of time
I love the Liszt warmup
Iron maiden be like "Finally a worthy opponent"
Lefty is playing backwards🤣
*E*
Free tempo? Mmmm

Bravi; solist guitar un po' fiacca...........
Incomplete sound.
idk why but want these guys to play still dre
certo che 2000 chitarre per un impatto uguale a 0. Sembra il saggio di fine anno dei propri figli!
lol
Poor
Fajnie, ale dooopy nie urywa... :o)
Why is nearly half this video over before the music starts? Don't waste my time.
I know. If only there were a way to fast forward through all the other parts.
OH WAIT.....
I know, but it's really not the point. Stupid, thoughtless editing. Inconsiderate. I should not have to click my way through to the music. That should have already been done.
It’s part of the song, I don’t know if you’ve ever heard it but the rains are quite a big thing, plus this is not an exact cover, is an arrangement
I have to disagree. The musicians are tuning up. Why is that recorded?
lol that's not tuning up. guitars don't tune up that high. but idk i also thought it was a little too long of a rainy intro. like. half as long pls.
Guitar orchestra will bring the most talented guitarists and have them make sum mediocre music
Delete the first four minutes, and you might have a good video.
I can't stand guitar slapping for percussion effect. It sound dreadful. The rest of the playing sounds weak, insipid and souless.
I agree. It's just a bit leaden, as if they are still learning it and not yet quite up to speed.
