Donnerwetter, an der Schule muss es echte Begeisterung fürs Singen geben - so ein riesen Chor! Dazu eine Top-Band, auch die Aufnahmequalität in Ton und Bild ist erstklassig. Große Klasse!

Vor 42 Jahren war ich Cusaner und habe nachts mit meinen Freunden Gitarre gespielt. Und dieser Chor ist einfach geil.

Absolute Spitzenklasse 👏👏👏 Das war vor 6 Jahren, alle damals Beteiligten können noch heute stolz und glücklich sein bei solch einer grandiosen Aufführung mit dabei gewesen zu sein…So etwas hört man in dieser Qualität nur ganz selten 🙏
Also ich hab keine Ahnung, was da auf der Bühne passiert??? Wie Betonpfeiler, bewegungslose Masken auf, kein Lächeln, keine Bewegung, keine Freude....
Hat man denen verboten beim Singen Spaß zu haben? Ich bin ratlos. Genauso klingts auch: Mund auf, Ton raus, Mund zu.
Bei diesem großartigen Arrangement von Toto kann man nix falsch machen, wenn man die Töne trifft!
Du lieber Himmel! Da bekommt man ein solches musikalisches Geschenk dargeboten und dann kommt immer noch einer um die Ecke, der ein Haar in der Suppe findet.

Innerhalb dieser knapp 6 minütigen, oberklasse Performance gingen mir folgende Dinge durch den Kopf: Ultrahohes Engagement der Lehrer und Schüler, Spass am generellen Schulbesuch (und natürlich an Projekten wie diesem), vermutlich hoher sozialer Zusammenhalt der Schüler untereinander, Förderung von individuellen Fähigkeiten (in dem Fall Stimme & Instrumente)...alles nicht mehr selbstverständlich in der heutigen Zeit. Weiter so !!! Können sich andere Schulen ´ne dicke Scheibe abschneiden!

in dieser knapp sechs minütigen , Oberklassen Performance gingen mir folgende Dinge durch den Kopf:
langweilige Darstellung, keine Liebe zum Lied, starres Stehen der Oberstufenschüler( wer hat ihnen das gesagt... eventuell die super motivierten Lehrer, die mit ihrem hohen Engagement die Schüler dazu treten ohne Emotionen auf der Bühne zu stehen). Förderung individueller Fähigkeiten sehe ich nicht, das ist ein Schulchor ohne Emotionen.! Die Schüler haben schön gesungen , jedoch ohne Leidenschaft, da gibt es bessere Beispiele.!
Vielleicht sind Sie ein Lehrer dieser Schule..............Drehen Sie bitte nicht so durch!
Jede Schule muss sich profilieren, aber bitte.............nicht so hochstapeln.! Es wird dadurch nicht besser...........wo ist hier die INDIVIDUALITÄT?
Die sehe ich nicht, NIX..........! Wo ist die Leidenschaft, die Liebe, wo der Flow?...................

@@heilumann Guter Beitrag um etwas über den mentalen Zustand des Verfassers zu erfahren, aber sonst... Um es mit deinen Worten zu sagen: Der erste Satz (bis zum Doppelpunkt) super, der Rest Müll. Wie man hier einzig aufgrund fehlender Bewegung der singenden so einen Beitrag verfassen kann, der die ganze Performance und alle Beteiligten in den Dreck ziehen soll ist mir völlig unverständlich. Aber wie gesagt, das sagt mehr über den Verfasser als über die Performance aus.
Also nochmal in deinen Worten: Drehen Sie bitte nicht so durch. Und weniger Punkte und Ausrufezeichen wären gut, denn: Es wird dadurch nicht besser!

Wer ist ihr? Ich habe mit der Aufführung absolut nichts zu tun, ich kenne die Schule nicht einmal. Das nur am Rande, wobei du ja schon im ersten Kommentar scheinbar die Auffassung vertrittst, dass man das gezeigte nur gut finden kann, wenn man direkt mit der Schule zu tun hat.
Ich war nur einigermaßen überrascht, einen so dermaßen abwertenden Kommentar hier zu lesen. Dir scheint nicht bewusst zu sein, dass das kein professioneller Chor ist, sondern ein Haufen Schüler verschiedener Altersstufen die sich dort hinstellen und im Rahmen ihrer Möglichkeiten eine großartige Darbietung abliefern. Der von dir beispielhaft verlinkte Angel City Chorale dagegen ist nicht einfach nur ein Schulprojekt, also einfach absolut nicht zu vergleichen.
By the way, auch wenn es vielleicht sogar bessere Schulchöre geben mag, so einen Auftritt als "Gesanglich gut, der Rest Müll" zu bezeichnen... naja, muss man nicht viel mehr zu sagen.

wir können hier noch viel diskutieren, meine Meinung habe ich deutlich gesagt und zwar auf den Kommentar von Halligen 1972. Ob dir meine Meinung nun gefällt oder nicht: "Der Gesang ist gut , der Rest ist Müll ! "
Emotional haben die Schüler nichts rübergebracht, aber auch garnichts! Sie sind stocksteif.
Die Aussage von Halligen 1972 ist einfach lächerlich.
By the way,...........Der Musiklehrer wird sich schon sehr angepasst haben :)

Ich habe schon viele Coverversionen dieses Stückes gehört und ich hatte schon die Ehre mit den original Jungs zu spielen, aber dass hier übertrifft jedes Cover! DER Herr Kollege, der das auf die Beine gestellt hat muss genial sein!! Er möge bitte so weiter machen, denn Musik ist meines Erachtens das Beste was man machen kann.

Excellent. I was in Africa in 2019. A friend and I stood high on an observation deck and watched the sunrise over the Serengeti with Kilimanjaro standing out of the mist high above us. We pulled out our smart phones and listened to "Africa" as we took in the wonder before us. Again, excellent job!

There are a couple of commenters who believe these people should all be moving to the music & smiling. This is a choral arrangement by a group of school kids that required an enormous amount of practice & dedication. This is about the music...it's not about body movement, nor is it a Colgate commercial.

Look at the musicians, they are all all moving to the music. Why shouldn‘t the choir move too? Moving to the rhythm is a natural reflex. Perhaps the kids weren’t allowed to move or encouraged to suppress their reflexes. It‘ s a very catchy, rhythmic song about Africa (!) and the choir performances as stiff as they were all attending a british funeral. I don‘t want to criticize the choir. They did a great job.

I am a chorister and most of the time we play safe when we play in a big group. Better to make sure all notes and tempo are in good control than to make body moves. It can distract our mates though.
Wie schön, dass ein ganz normales Gymnasium so einen tollen Chor zustande bekommen hat! So sollte Schulmusik immer aussehen! Alle zusammen, alle haben Spaß, Singen ist nicht "uncool"! Klasse!
naja, "ganz normal". Bei einer Oberstufe die aus fast 500 Leuten besteht, hat man auch eine größere Auswahl an halbwegs talentierten Schülern, womit ich die Leistung aller beteiligten keinesfalls unterbewerten möchte!

? Alle haben Spaß? Also wenn diese Gesichter Spaß haben, dann möchte ich nicht wissen, wie die aussehen, wenn die traurig sind!!! Die sind ja wie in Beton gemeißelt als würden die gerade zur Schlachtbank abgeführt! Hat denen der Musiklehrer verboten beim Singen zu lachen oder Freude zu haben???

@@cellics yes! It’s a public middle and high school (which in Germany are no separate schools) so some of their performances also include the younger students. Overall you probably have an age range from 10-18/19

❤❤❤ Für mich ist das eines der schönsten Interpretationen von Toto. Die Akustik, die Stimmen....Gänsehaut ab dem 1. Ton - einfach wunderschön. Mir gefällt die Natürlichkeit der Schüler sehr - kein aufwendiges Outfit, jeder ist ganz einfach angezogen. Wie muss sich das Konzert erst live angehört haben, hier wäre ich sehr gerne dabei gewesen. Mein grosses Kompliment an alle Lehrer und Schüler, was für ein Klasse Projekt !! 👍👌😚
Zustimmung. Schau mal bei Perpetuum Jazzile rein. Die haben das Lied auch interpretiert. Nur ganz ohne Instrumente. Ist noch ein bisschen beeindruckender.

Drums: that shuffle is not easy, you nailed it. Percussion: Perfect, lovely touch. Bass: Every nuance was there, including the shift register detail in the final 8, well done. Keys: Strings were just right and the middle 8 lead, really great. Piano: Dave plays it just the same. Guitar: A little lost in the mix, but played great. Choir: Amazing, lovely harmony's, diction and pitch. Marvelously wonderful x

@@davidthaler7018 other songs from this concert,also on yt had less performers, this song had a whole lot more, there were younger kids sitting were hanging their feet off the stage. Oh, and the girl in the beginning with the dialogue, and the boy that came up next to her, we're noticably younger than high school and we're not in the other songs. This had the music department of the entire school system in it, not just the high school kids.

There are times when the sound and voices are so well meshed that you actually get an "out-of-body experience." To me, this is one of those times. Well done and danke.

This is an excellent cover by a choir. They capture the groove and spirit of the original, no mean feat for a large group. The instrumentation is spot-on, even the drummer doing his best Jeff Porcaro. Again, that ain’t easy. Great work.

One of my favorite songs of all times. This is what was playing on the radio when I was a Junior/Senior in high school. It reminds me of how hopeful i was at that age. I played my bass in stage band and swing choir.. Nice reminder of a very exciting/confusing time in my life. BRAVO..!

@@simonerunyan5403 Nor the Belgian, English, Dutch, French, or Italian. During that time, European countries were colonizing Africa like crazy. Germany was not alone, nor even close to being the major player in Africa.
@@PhillipLandmeier , I enjoyed this performance and I wasn't trying to be a smartass. Years ago, someone introduced me to the works of Thomas Pynchon. His portrayal of German violence in Southwest Africa really stuck in my mind all these years.
@@simonerunyan5403 Yes, I hear you. I was just pointing that this kind of behavior was common for European countries at that time. Imperialism through violence was the order of the day. Spain and Portugal set the standard and then everyone else wanted to do the same thing. European countries of the time had dehumanized the indigenous people of Africa, Americas, South Pacific, India. The stories of violence and cruelty are endless.
The bad news is that improvement in human behavior is going to take tens of thousands of years, if not longer. The violence and abuse will continue for the foreseeable future because this behavior seems characteristic of all the great apes. With humans, it's worse, because we are more intelligent.
Keep adding to this exceptional group of singers and musicians. They are exceptional, fresh and truly a gift. Thank you.
