So will Verstappen retire sooner rather than later?? I explore those possibilities in this video here! th-cam.com/video/ag91VSec2lE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=tIA6qFfpUCiMe28Q
Schumacher and Verstappen both have more wins than they have poles. They are also the only ones in this list who have showed they can win championships without having the fastest car for most of a season. These two things say a lot imo.
If the standings stay as they are, Verstappen will be the first drivers champion in 41 years to win it with a car that's 3rd or worse. (N.Piquet 1983 - Brabham)
@@Don-Royall You gotta take things into consideration though. Ferrari might have been a tiny bit faster for most of the 2008 season (they were pretty close) but their reliability was awful, WAY worse than that of McLaren. I think Hamilton didn't even had a mechanical DNF in both 2007 and 2008 while Ferrari dealt with a lot of mechanical problems throughout both season, and especially 2008. If the reliability of Ferrari would have been a tiny bit better they would have secured the title easily. And let's not forget about crashgate of course. That changed the complete outcome of the championship as well. I definitely wouldn't say Hamilton won that one on merit.
There is a better way to look at this. How many races was the car competitive enough for the win? In Hamilton's case probably somewhere between 120 to 140 races. For Verstappen around 70 to 75 races. I'll even argue that Verstappen has won more races without the quickest car than that he lost with the quickest car. The conversion rate in any case for Verstappen is much higher. This is why Verstappen absolutely demolishes all records that relate to consistency.
So you use the car’s performance to say if Max did good or not, and you use Max’s performance to say when the car is better or not. Seems like terrible logic. This is the issue of not having a competitive team mate, it is actually impossible to know how much is car and how much is Max cause Perez is shit. I would say the exact same for Lewis in the bottas years. The main difference is we have seen Lewis race head to head with 3 other champions. The best teammate Max has ever had is Danny.
@@dynobomb3673 There is your unfounded assumption, which only indicates your terrible logic. The teammate narrative is just post-hoc rationalization by Hamilton fans. There is almost no way to compare teammates. Hamilton fans just want to assert Hamilton's teammates were much better and use number of wdc titles as an argument which is the dumbest possible argument that has ever existed ever.
Hamilton while a great driver has been extremely lucky in that both teams he joined, he had a championship winning car from the get go. All other champions (Senna, Prost, Schumacher, Alonso, Seb and now Max) never had that. They have toiled and worked to get the team to a winning stage. For me personally, Michael will always be the GOAT. More than his 7 championships, it's the fact that he left a championship winning team to go resurrect ferrari to glory days and after many years he achieved it. No other driver has done that and will probably never do it. It's like Lewis leaving merc in 2020 to go to ferrari or Williams to change their fortune. And frankly I never accept Senna as the GOAT. The guy literally crashed into Prost at fhe 90 Japanese race to eliminate Prost and win fhe championship. Fans and media somehow celebrate Senna for such acts but hold guys like Michael or Max or Seb in a different light for moves whoch are much less controversial. If Senna deliberately crashing into Prost was OK, then Michael should have never been stripped off ALL points in 97 and he would have 8 titles. My list 1. Michael 2. Lewis and Max 3. Prost 4. Senna 5. Seb
Max wins his fourth title with the third best car! There were seven multiple winners this season, and still Max was on top. Cars are much closer now than even in the recent past, it's not uncommon that the first ten are within a second in qualifying.
A side note to Rosberg, who although did not achieve the same success, managed to outperform Schumacher and Hamilton in a season (where nobody else has, except Russell)
What I had to disagree is that the rb20 is the worst of Verstappen championship machines. It is even better than the mighty rb19. The problem is how it stacks against the other teams, while the rb19 was miles ahead, the rb20 was outpaced or leveled with the others. Kudos for the other teams.
Max Verstappen is the greatest ! why ? because he dominated with a HONDA engine ! Vettel drove a car with a blown diffuser and engine mapping trick that took years for teams to figure it out !
Cmon man don't slander on vettel. he was quite quick in his days. webber was nowhere to be seen in the same car except maybe 2010 when luck wasn't on vettel's side the whole season
I wanted to do just a comparison to the most recent 4-time champions. Also, Prost and Fangio's eras were vastly different (Less races + points offered) With that said, they are definitely on the list of F1 greats!
Lewis has the advantage of starting his career with McLaren at their best where Max started with Torro Rosso. If Lewis began his career in the midfield like most drivers or Max started with Red Bull, even with that dogsh!t Renault engine, it would be a better comparison. Max has always been and always will be the better driver under pressure. Don't forget Nico took Hamilton's lunch in 2016! Nico would NEVER have beaten Max in the same car for a title, EVER! 😆
@@dynobomb3673 Is that Max's fault or something he could control? He's eaten 5 teammates for lunch already, how many more will it take to get the point across?! 😆
Some reality check on the "3° best car" BS. RAW STATISTICS; no opinion: under ADRIAN NEWEY, RBull scored 7 poles and 8 wins (out of 22 races) in the first half of this current season. After his departure, only 1 single win, no pole and dropped to third in the constructors' championship standings. Credit were credit is due.
Some reality check on your reality check; Newey joined Red Bull in 2006 and stayed until this year, that’s 17~18 years, they won 7 championships (or 8 depends how you want to count) through this time. Where was ‘Newey’ the rest of the time?
@elChirrinChirriondelDiablo Sorry for hurting your feelings, but some more HARD FACTS. First off, CRASHappen only got the 2024 title 'cause he stacked up exact 200 points (or 8 wins) under NEWEY clearly in the then fastEST car; and 2nd, when NEWEY took off and RBull went down the drain, CRASHappen was lucky enough that the other 3 F1 contender teams have so far shared 14 wins (or 350 points), none of them having yet won more than 5 races. But CRASHappen ultimate stroke of luck was MICHAEL MASI as race director of the very last 2021 GP.

Verstappen has essentially embarrassed every team-mate like Schumacher before his return to Mercedes.
