Remember to tune in tonight on May 26th @ midnight. And more important two things: 1) Keep your expectations low 2) Be supportive and at least a bit hopeful. If ANY of you wanted shows from 10 years ago, you need to put those thoughts aside. If you had other shows in mind, keep an open mind of what we DO have so far. No matter what happens, be grateful, keep your mind open, tune in, and stay gold.
@iWATCHITT i was born in 1999. so i was 6 when it was 2005. i started watching dragonball when i was 4. i liked watching anime when i was little. i watched it until the end of toonami. It feels so nostalgic when u watch this
This post was 6 years ago, but if you are still interested there are websites where you can watch it online like funimation.com. I think you might need a subscription though for that one.
Same. I saw uncut Yu Yu Hakusho one night as a kid, I'm assuming it was Midnight Run, the one where they were fighting Rando, and he shrank Kuwabara real small, and broke his arm. I had to watch All Dogs Go to Heaven before I could sleep. Lol
Yeah they were in the Buu Saga whenever I was born so I didn’t see it until I stumbled across a lot of TH-cam clips and fights. Luckily they aired Kai all the way through from the beginning of 2015 to now. I know Kai isn’t exactly the same as the old Z dub but it’s the closest thing to watching Z on toonami that I will get for a lifetime. And then Super came along and I’ve tried my best to watch them both on tv ever since because I know I’ll never get a chance to see it all as it’s being aired again.
Yea I was born in '88 and have similar nostalgic memories of DBZ, being most excited after school was out mostly just to watch the next episode of DBZ, lol.
Born in the same year, people really don’t understand how hyped we were for this shit back in the day especially the frieze saga when this fucking reruns finally ended and they switched to funi dub lol
87 here. I used to run home from school to catch the last 15 mins of the episode because my bus ran into the 3:00 block I would always catch it after the long commercial break and then they do like a rewind of the episode about 2 minutes back. So I can get everything that happened in the beginning and the end of the episode. Sometimes my bus driver was cool and would drop me off in front of my house if there wasn't a lot of kids on the bus.
To me, aside from Peter Cullen being the voice of Optimus Prime, he is first and foremost, the man that made me rage my prepubescent boner of watching DBZ, Yu-Yu Hakusho, Kenshin, Tenchi Muyo, Gundam, Sailor Moon, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Dragonball from the good 'ol days. Plus, his voice when doing promos for shows, such as Kenshin, made me so happy!
sprtsfanatic1 Are you talking about TOM? Except for when Toonami first began its run, he was always voiced by Steve Blum (Famous for Spike Spiegel). And before that it was Sonny Strait. Peter Cullen never voiced TOM.
SteveMan92 No, I"m referring to Peter Cullen voicing the promos for various shows during the Toonami glory years. LIke, this video, for example. I always knew that TOM was voiced by Steve Blum. Plus, him and Peter Cullen sound nothing alike. Cullen had a signature hook at the end of any promo, "New episodes of Dragonball Z....ONLY TOONAMI!"
I've realized that the more watch these old clips from Toonami the more painful it is to actually watch them. Damn nostalgia... 90s you will be missed.
Someone get me a Dragon ball radar, I'm gathering those Dragon balls to go back in time and relive the good old days and prevent those disasters on CN from ever happening!
the nostalgia, is over 9000... OMFG i wanna go back then when me and my brothers watched dbz on toonami omfg i have never felt nostalgia this much legit.
I just do NOT understand why CN can't get their heads out of their asses and put Toonami back on from 3:30 to 6:00 and hype it like the old days. Their ratings would go through the roof. Some old, some new and the world would be awesome again. I wish I had a time machine.
I downloaded Funimation/Crunchyroll to show my 8 year old Dragonball and DBZ. My heart was broken when we watched the intro and it wasn’t the English version I grew up with. Then I was completely destroyed watching Goku turn SSJ for the first time with the LAMEST music/score in the world. Just recently found out the version I watched was the Bruce Faulconer score. I showed my son the “Rock the Dragon” intro on yt and when Goku turned SSJ. His jaw dropped and thought it was the coolest since we had already watched most of the show. I’ve been looking for that version everywhere and can only find a couple episodes.
When I have kids, I'm letting them watch my DBZ VHS tapes when they come home from school and play with my DBZ action figures. Just so they can experience my childhood and see how much it rocked.
When Toonami, the legendary Toonami, gives so much credit to a series as to say "arguably the best show around" AND honors the series with a longer, specialized promo, you know the series has to be downright godly, setting standards high and raising the bar like no other. And truly so, DBZ was amazing. Unarguably incredible. There is a damn good reason that even so many years after its official conclusion its still getting fame, mention, and new games and other merchendise. Truly an anime giant.
When Toonami was out only other show that matched up with it was Nickelodeon. . Not disney channel. Disney Channel wasn't shit. Toonami on Cartoon Network was the shit! Especially for DBZ, He-Man, and a lot of other great shows.. man Toonami was great. If they bring it back with the old shows mix with some new I would watch it for sure, but bring back most of the old shows.
Love & Success Follows Me .. actually Kids WB Held their own against Toonami, with Jackie Chan, Xmen Evolution, and all those Bruce timm dcau shows they had.
This is example of how English/American Dubs made DragonBall Z 10x more epic in implementing English, Music and Trailers/Promos to hype it up. Toonami & Adult Swim was great in introducing Anime Series to American Audiences back in the 90s and early 2000s.. Now watching DBZ in Japanese Dubs is overall unbearable in comparison just like 90% of their subs outside of Naruto Shippuden and thats because Disney did the English Dubs for Naruto Shippuden. So you knew from.the jump they would be horrible.
If you were born in the 90s you had a very blessed childhood ( For me born in 94) The good old days coming home from school everyday waiting mainly for Toonami even before toonami Cartoonnetwork still had great shows like Dexters lab, Powerpuff girls, Samurai jack and much more. Its a shame the main director for Cartoonnetwork left years ago over some reason I cant rememeber but it had something to do with another area in the world finding some shows "offensive"
Heh, I had satellite, so for me it was 2pm to 5pm, I could watch right when I got home from school to right when my mom got home from work. It was perfect timing.
I'm literally sitting here tearing up because I miss the days when toonami was running and we fans always looked forward to DBZ, and the rest of the good animes that were running. Remember YuYuHakushou? Good days man, good days =' (
To this day I pretend I can shoot energy blasts from my hands
I sometimes pretend to still do the spirit gun from Yuyu Hakusho
Ruby, that's brilliant.
Pew! Pew! Pew!
MrShloker i couldn't have said it better myself im still trying to figure out how to actually do it mark my words I will
Me too and there actually is a thing called Ki and you feel it through practicing Qi gong or Tai chi! ^_^
gotta include that shot of gohan getting blown the fuck out.

Wow fucking amazing I feel so nostalgic. Literally watched this like 10 times in a row
A lot of us that saw this when it was aired feel that way. Another good one is the Outlaw Star, Big O, Tenchi Muyo, and Gundam Wing promos.
I always fantasize rage powering up
If only kids today got to see this
I like Tom's voice, has more range than Peter's and better suited for a show like toonami
They basically just showed all the best bits from early in the Majin Buu Saga, yeah I'd watch too if I saw that promo!
dead man wonderland was so dark i loved it
Gotta love dbz
Im am still on my childhood and im going to have a EPIC ONE
Thanks DBZ for everything
;_;
Dbz the only show that has filler that people actually don't mind sitting thru
I Fucking LOVED the Buu saga, i dont care what anyone else says =D
u goosebumps u lose
I lost.
@allstarbrawlingfan2 i think he was referring to the series i think
THERE'S ONE THING A SAIYAN ALWAYS KEEPS!, HIS PRIDE!!!
RIP Akira Toriyama
Without DBZ I don’t think we’d even have something like Toonami…
So true man.
I miss these being a kid is way better than being an adult.
same my friend
Facts back then yes it was
Why
Only good things about adulthood are having money and sex. Everything else is shit. Reality bites
Yep
*”Mighty Heroes......Super Villians......And The Most Powerful Warriors In The Universe.”😎*
*FUCK...That Still Gives Me Goosebumps!🙏🏽😩*
"😠There's one thing a Saiyan always keeps, 😡HIS PRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE!!!!!!!"
I was about to write the same thing!!!! 🔥🔥
*Back a year later and the nostalgia STILL hits just as hard!🥲💪🏼*
Straight chills man
It was because of Toonami that i got hooked on DBZ, i loved that show and Yu Yu Hakusho. Hell i watched it even if it was a re-run.
Me too haha!
This post was 6 years ago, but if you are still interested there are websites where you can watch it online like funimation.com. I think you might need a subscription though for that one.

Wait, THAT’S what you watch in order to go to sleep?
Damn, they repped Vegeta hard. Respect.
Toonami already knew what time it was
The Black Kakashi
VEGETACLOCK!!!
It wasn't to many Promos were he wasn't in it hell that probably made him my fav alone 😂😂😂😂
Hell yea they did. Even on the android / cell saga promo it ends with Vegeta
I wish I was 7 again and this was on. I loved everything about toonami and DBZ. Those were the days.
Yeeeeeeeeesssssss!
Hope you're doing good!
I feel bad for the kids of your generation lol. You guys missed out on something truly great.
Drawing Legends that comment was 5 years old
SlimD716 I remember
SlimD716 lucky for them toonami came back and with DBZ and Super.
Yeah they were in the Buu Saga whenever I was born so I didn’t see it until I stumbled across a lot of TH-cam clips and fights. SlimD716 true
Dude what the fuck happened to cartoon network...........It went from this to teen titans go reruns, so sad
I was born in 89" so I was about 10 in 2000 and honestly this will be the greatest memory I'll ever have. Dragonball #30 yearsofDragonball
Yea I was born in '88 and have similar nostalgic memories of DBZ, being most excited after school was out mostly just to watch the next episode of DBZ, lol.

same here...89
Correction they switched during the freeza saga lol

When vegeta sacrifices himself it still gives me chills…
Glad he don’t need sacrificing for that attack now👏😂
If they set those androids free it'll be the end of all of us! NOOOOO!!!!
"Ready for the pain?"
(Buu gets kicked in the face.)
...awesome ending to this promo.
I don't remember Peter Cullen promoting FMA
SlimD716 Maybe he did or maybe he didn't. I can't recall
sprtsfanatic1 Are you talking about TOM? Except for when Toonami first began its run, he was always voiced by Steve Blum (Famous for Spike Spiegel). And before that it was Sonny Strait. Peter Cullen never voiced TOM.

SlimD716 In the earlier days of Adult Swim Action Peter Cullen did the voice over for some of the show promos.
RIP Akira Toriyama
Weeknights was crazy….. had to sneak to watch dbz its one of the reasons why I got Insomnia now 😂
Rip Akira Toriyama
I've realized that the more watch these old clips from Toonami the more painful it is to actually watch them. Damn nostalgia... 90s you will be missed.

Dragon ball super has nothing on Z
Anime will never be what it used to be man. This and the OG Dragonball are unrivaled to this day.
Anime dbz so much better than manga. Also dub might be better than sub
Goku v Majin Vegeta the best and most personal fight in the series till this day

That really did bring us good memories!
