People talk about this as a piece of nostalgia a lot, but honestly, especially with Outlaw Star, it often feels more relevant the older you get. There's never a time where you should give up on following dreams after a setback or a victory for fear. Gene spends that whole series searching for the Galactic Lei Line like a dog chasing a car, and once he catches it he has to confront what it is he actually desires. The chase made him live, but the catch was the hard part. Sometimes you catch things in life and desires and dreams fall to the wayside, only for you to have to find new desires and dreams. You stop aging when you can find them again, and nostalgia is no longer important.

The real question is those of us that seen this as children and are now in our late 20s or early 30s. Did you follow your dreams and achieved what you want out of life so far? Have you walked your own path or one someone chose for you or just one of convenience.
Honestly no. I changed careers, I still feel lost. At times I wonder what life would be like if I made a couple changes in the past. Not quite regret but melancholy curiosity. Right now I'm financially stable and all that jazz but just not happy. Maybe happiness is just a fleeting thing.

The late 90's and early 2000's Toonami and Adult Swim anime literally changed my life. I would be a different person if not for these shows being made available to a kid in a small town who would never have discovered them at that age otherwise.
This was set up that the right time, I’ve been having a rough few weeks at my job just feeling miserable how I want to go back to school and do the things I want to do but I’ve been holding myself back because of my fears and I let my age be a factor. But now seeing Toonami posted this 23 minutes ago and watching it has made me tear up bit, I’m 27 now & I remember being hooked on Toonami as a kid the inner child in me who I once was would be disappointed at not letting future me follow my dreams and go after I want. I want my spark back… so thank you, Adult Swim for posting this💛🥲
there people in school starting at 29-30 doing medical degree thats 5 years long, I think you shouldnt let your age be a reason why you shouldnt do what you want. if age is a big worry, just say what you look like for the age lie, who cares, it only matters to people if you legally have to. Just do it to keep that pressure off.
Dude same. I turn 29 in a few months and my brain seems to be my worst enemy haha. But Im trying to change my thinking. We are all deserving of what we set out to achieve.
Good luck on your journey bro. I'm finishing up my master's now after working a few years first (I'm 32), and can tell you it'll be worth it if it makes you happy and opens more doors.
shizuwolf Howlajima Right now Toonami is using The Forge after TOM and Sara basically kicked out its original owner. Before The Forge it was The Vindication.
As a kid I had the illusion that every adult had a map on how to live life. As an adult and being 33, that map does not exist. There are people my age or even younger who have their life figured out. Working in their career, having a home, started a family. Im still trying to find myself.
The map does exist, but it takes discipline to create it. I'm 33 as well. I've been working 2 jobs since I was 18, and now I have a house and land paid off, no vehicle notes, and looking to semi retire around 38 years old. It sucked. There were days i asked myself, "Why am I doing this? I should be having fun." I had no guidance. I just knew what I wanted. Now I'm not trying to show off here. You being my age at 33, you still have PLENTY of time to take that first step forward, my friend. 33 to me is still extremely young. discipline equals freedom.
Here we are in 2024, I'll be 38 next month, but this takes me back to my early teens, my little brother was still alive. Brings a smile to my face, peace to my mind, and hope in my heart. "Believe in yourself and create your own destiny. Do not fear failure."
Woah the FEELS, the memories 😭😭😭... Trigun, Inuyasha, Tenchi Muyo, Wolf's Rain, Outlaw Star, DBZ, Full Metal Alchemist, and Yuyu Hakusho. Literally just got transported back to my childhood for 2:14 seconds. This was a great feeling. I loved this friendly reminder of the past.
The nostalgia here is powerful. 2002-2003, 8th grade and my first exposure to anime and an increasingly high tech culture. Sitting in my upstairs bedroom at night with the glowing street lamp out the window and hours of anime (Inuyasha, Yu Yu Hakusho, Cowboy Bebop, Pilot Candidate, Outlaw Star, Tenchi Muyo! was the first lineup I watched). It was a magical and physically relaxing feeling.
Im 29 and man. This Still motivates me no matter how much Times and gets me misty eyed every time. Stayed with me since I was a kid. And every time I lift the kettle bell, it’s a refuel of fire to keep going on life.
Everything about this promo is beautiful and serene - fully captures the essence of every young teenager in the early 2000s who watched Toonami No matter what keep the spirit of Toonami alive!!
"A boy has a right to dream. There are endless possibilities spread out before him" That part always stuck with me. I remember watching this as a kid and being fascinated by the entirety of this clip. Couple decades later with only a memory of the beginning part. Now seeing it in it's entirety again it hits the same. Toonami was a big part of my childhood and having these come back to watch again is amazing.
I’m 28 years old and I still remember watching this promo as a kid. It has given me the courage and drive I’ve needed to overcome life’s challenges, and to always keep moving forward. I get choked up watching it now; never giving up and not allowing fear to dictate your life. Your success will be built upon a mound of many failures. Keep strong.
Pure, unadulterated, unapologetic, grade A, NOSTALGIA. I will never forget these formative years of my life, and this promo perfectly encapsulates them. Happy anniversary Toonami.
Coming here after they announced Akira Toriyama death 😢 RIP Toriyama and thank you for everything you did for us and gave us. There is no real life dragon balls to bring you back, but we hope you are with King Kai relaxing
This and the follow-up TOM speech they did in 2016 are my all-time favorite. I hope Vigil and Rej are proud of this one. It is one of the only "ads" I can think of that genuinely inspires the viewer first, and advertises the product in the background; even if the kid didn't end up watching Toonami that day, the message stuck with them. It certainly did for me, anyway.
WE ALL HAVE A RIGHT TO DREAM.... Thank you Tom, Steve Blum, and all those who supported and produced Toonami before and after it's return. We thank you for your inspiration for 25 years. 💯💯💯

Dedicated to all those from my generation who were dreamers, who made those dreams come true, who are still dreaming and those who left us too early before they could realize those dreams.
Toonami has a large part in creating some of the greatest friendships I had in school. Good times sitting around at lunch breaking down what we saw and what we predicted was yet to come.
These toonami messag3s/shorts/inspirational speeches were a blast during my childhood. I feel so mostalgic seeing them now . I wish tv/streaming had a channel or service that did these kind of things mixed in with there programming
Im 36 now... I still watch, still reminisce. You guys shaped an entire generation. I wish the kids weren't forced to grow up so fast nowadays. Playing pokemon gold for the first time. Reading The Simpsons comic books. Collecting resident evil and X-men cards... Thats all i had to worry about...
30yrs old & The nostalgia hit with this! I still remember this until this day! Glad I was able to experience toonami & these life bumps. Probably this was needed!
"Believe in yourself and dont fear failure" I was a kid when this came out and I was already into anime and video games and very shy. By the time I graduated high school I had no plans, some bad grades and basically no hope for a strong start. I took a huge chance on joining the army to be able to provide for my family and make something of myself. I served 10 years in the aviation field and saw the world, deployed to Afghanistan, deployed overseas and had soldiers of my own to lead and train. This message had to have contributed to my decision.
I just turned 30 last month. This was my childhood/teens as well. So nostalgic. I'm glad to have had Toonami growing up... anime has helped me through tough times
Things like Kenshin, Outlaw Star, Yu Yu Hakusho, Gundam Wing. It's like Toonami knew the 90s/early 2000s was a paradigm shift, that scores of kids were struggling and hurting and not being able to cope, that they showed us characters we could relate to and empathize with, that we could find catharsis. I owe Toonami a lot. I think we all do.
Man, growing up watching cartoons and anime in the 1990s was amazing. Those were the legendary times. The best times for television and cartoons. This was before the Narutards began to come along around 2005-2007 years. Toonami, Dragon Ball, Pokemon, Sailor Moon, Gundam Wing 00, G Gundam, Tenchi Muyo, Rurouni Kenshin, Ronin Warriors, Digimon, Fox Kids, all the Nickelodeon and Disney shows, and the list goes on. I can't even describe it. Being a 1990s kid was the best. Besides the parts where I was bullied. Anime, playing outside, and playing Star Fox and Goldeneye 007 on Nintendo 64 were the only good memories I had. I still remember the first time Trunks turned Super Saiyan against Frieza and his "Destruction" theme was playing. I was eating ramen noodles. I remember back when I used to have "friends" and I went to see the first two Pokemon films in theatres. I remember Pikachu crying on the big screen and slapping. I think those were the first cartoon and anime films I saw in a theatre. I have not had "friends" since elementary and 6th grade. I don't trust anyone. Since then, the best thing I have done is work at Pixar as an animation intern in Summer 2019. San Francisco Bay Area was the most beautiful place I had been to. When 2008 came, I have been going tons of health problems. Kids today have no idea how amazing it was in the 1990s and around 2000. Today, kids are too busy on apps like TikToxic, sn*pch*t, and "IG." Simp boys are supporting girls on places like OnlySimps. TH-cam is terrible now compared to when it first released in 2005. I was in 2005 back then. Before youtube was ebaumsworld, newgrounds, and that crazy gore website. Everything has literally gone downhill. My sister's son is in elementary and he is into Dragon Ball like I was as a kid. I don't know if he picked it up from me and my videos, or if it was from Dragon Ball Super. Last holiday in 2022, I brought my Dragon Ball Super Broly film in the living room so he could see it. He had never heard of Broly before. Broly and Vegeta are favorite characters. During the movie, when Broly first started fighting, he began searching Broly on his phone nonstop and he was completely ignoring the film. He was not focused on that amazing action at all. It was annoying me so much. Everyone is so locked into these smart phones. It is crazy. In the 1990s, kids came back from school, turned on the TV, and watched Toonami cartoons and anime from 2:30 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Monday through Friday. There was no looking at tiny screen in your hand. If you missed it, you missed it. In fact, it wasn't until high school years that kids started to search for anime episodes online. Nowadays, everyone is in such a rush to see the sub Japanese versions in order to get views for the reaction videos. Kids in the 1990s did not grow up with Japanese sub versions unless they lived in Japan. As far as I knew.
Man I was there when this originally aired & I'm so glad I'm still here to see it get the recognition it really deserves as a great little piece of early 2000s pop culture
That "Are you just going to keep running away exchange" almost brought me to tears as I sent a wave of nostalgia through my brain of those times growing up.
I never forgot about this promo. It still rings in my head, and I can see it vividly. Sometimes I think back and wish I can return to it; just to feel that safe, calm feeling I once felt where the only fears I had were school related and once I returned home to my family, I knew everything was going to be okay. These words have always stuck with me: "A boy has the right to dream...there are endless possibilities stretched out before him."
I can't believe I've followed Toonami since the very beginning. I'll forever be grateful for all the memories the block has given me. You've made my childhood and you're still there now in my adulthood. Long live the greatest action block to ever exist, Toonami!
"Just keep running away..? ...I'm not running..." This promo has been living rent-free in my head for the last 20 years and it's never looked better in 1080p60fps
Kids today NEED things like this. I plan on showing this to my daughter at some point when she may be able to better appreciate it as she gets older. You don't catch motivational things like this that call that life and existence into question and even addressing one's path and fears in chasing their dreams. All that was encapsulated in this "Dreams" montage years ago for us. "BELIEVE IN YOURSELF. AND CREATE YOUR OWN DESTINY. DON'T FEAR FAILURE."
Back in the day, I would always stay up late to watch toonami or for a brief time here in the U.K. as CNX to watch DBZ, OutLaw Star, Batman Beyond, Samurai Jack, ultimate muscle, Megas XLR, CowBoy Bebop and list goes on. a great part of my childhood.
OMG FINALLY! A high res version of this video! I saw this when I was in middle school, ONCE and it stuck with me. It became my inspiration to draw eventually. It only took me 14 yrs, but eventually I drew what stuck with me from this commercial. Truely inspiring! Thank you Toonami, thank you Adult Swim for uploading this finally! @@RetepAdam thank you for saying the name of the anime I was looking for it 😂
I was looking for this comment.
I knew as a kid that this scene would stick with me for awhile, but I didn't know how bad it would hit me watching it again after all these years. 😖😣😌😭💪🏾
So many words to say...but only one action to take.
Me rn
I’m 32 right now and I’m on the phone with my 10 years old and I’m putting him on game with these classics 😂❤ Shout Out To Out Generation and Generations to come. THANK YOU TOM and TOONAMI/CN NETWORK!!!
"A boy has the right to dream" - if that doesn't reach in and grab you by your soul, then you don't have one
I want my spark back… so thank you, Adult Swim for posting this💛🥲
Powerful statement. This made me tear up too watching this on IG earlier, made me miss my dad who loved DBZ like his sons.
there people in school starting at 29-30 doing medical degree thats 5 years long, I think you shouldnt let your age be a reason why you shouldnt do what you want. if age is a big worry, just say what you look like for the age lie, who cares, it only matters to people if you legally have to. Just do it to keep that pressure off.
You should really check out the 2016 Dreams speech.
I feel like part of myself is still the child watching this all those years ago. Still yearning for that greater purpose.
Such memories! Long live Toonami!✌🏼
Decade from now it'll be the 35th anniversary. Bet by then we'll all tell stories to our kids about what Toonami was like during the golden age of CN.
I just turned 44 and I still love this!!! The nostalgia is perfect. Thank you Toonami!!
This is one of my favorite Toonami speeches! I really miss the aesthetic of old Toonami. Keep cruising on the absolution another 25 years!
They’re on a different ship now. Can’t remember the name
shizuwolf Howlajima Right now Toonami is using The Forge after TOM and Sara basically kicked out its original owner.
I should be having fun."
I had no guidance.
Sometimes I just gotta come back to this nostalgic video and tell myself “it’s never too late”
I’m 32 & I grew up on Toonami 😢 great times !
I come back to this every year or so and the message hits the same as it did when I was kid. No regrets
Watching this made me tear up a little. The memories from back then. ( believe in yourself, Don't be a failure)
Everything about this promo is beautiful and serene - fully captures the essence of every young teenager in the early 2000s who watched Toonami
No matter what keep the spirit of Toonami alive!!
"A boy has a right to dream. There are endless possibilities spread out before him"
That part always stuck with me. I remember watching this as a kid and being fascinated by the entirety of this clip. Couple decades later with only a memory of the beginning part. Now seeing it in it's entirety again it hits the same. Toonami was a big part of my childhood and having these come back to watch again is amazing.
Time flies right on by. I remember watching as a child.
Maaaaaaaan, Toonami promos and editing is vibe that I will never tire of.
I’ll never forget watching DBZ on toonami back in the day. Still my favorite series ever. Those old promos live in my head
Dragon Ball will never die.
If you love
Dragon Ball give me a hell yeah.
Instant chills with the Outlaw Star opening shot, wow
Majority of the video is Outlaw Star
Outlaw Star is underrated
Pure, unadulterated, unapologetic, grade A, NOSTALGIA. I will never forget these formative years of my life, and this promo perfectly encapsulates them. Happy anniversary Toonami.
It's hard not to get emotional watching these like you are greeting an old friend you haven't seen in years.
You've gotta walk your own path.
Watching Toonami after school in the 2000’s man… Ya just had to be there.
Coming here after they announced Akira Toriyama death 😢
RIP Toriyama and thank you for everything you did for us and gave us.
As soon aw ge starts talking and i see Gohan relaxing with his daddy... I get goosebumps. Toonami us the best i miss being barley 10 years old.. 32 now, this always makes ne 𝘀𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲, 𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘻𝘺 i remember each word of this. 😊🙏
This was always my favorite promo. I even got my mom to buy me the Toonami CD with this beat on it. The memories are so nice. Thanks Toonami!
Dedicated to all those from my generation who were dreamers, who made those dreams come true, who are still dreaming and those who left us too early before they could realize those dreams.
34 years old, this has a special place in my memory.
This set is still in rotation in the ride.
Man, the memories just came flooding back!
Such a flood of my childhood memories. Tom intros and the music just awesome remembering those times.
I’m still here Toonami!!! I almost wasn’t but I’m still here. To watch your content and to be in nostalgia. Happy 25 years!!!
This hits deep. Hard to believe I've watched Adult Swim and Toonami for almost two decades.
Where does Toonami air now? What shows does it have?
Listening to this ad in the dark watching Toonami on the weekend or weekdays is a core memory of mine. I know this word for word. Thank you Toonami!
Toonami has a large part in creating some of the greatest friendships I had in school. Good times sitting around at lunch breaking down what we saw and what we predicted was yet to come.
Child hood at its finest. Wish there was like a best of toonami on dvd/bluray
These toonami messag3s/shorts/inspirational speeches were a blast during my childhood. I feel so mostalgic seeing them now . I wish tv/streaming had a channel or service that did these kind of things mixed in with there programming
Changed my life…kept me going when I didn’t think I could
“You gonna carry that weight.” - Cowboy Bebop
I’m forever thankful I grew-up during this era of Toonami.
This gave me the craziest nostalgia trip! Coming home from school , sitting down and watching this promo gave me such relief when I was a kid
God, I remember this playing regularly, still just as good as when I was a kid. I need to watch Outlaw Star again.
It's even better to watch as an adult
It hits harder as an adult. Bring your tissues
You not lying my favorite anime I got the whole thing on Blu-ray
30yrs old & The nostalgia hit with this! I still remember this until this day! Glad I was able to experience toonami & these life bumps. Probably this was needed!
"Believe in yourself and dont fear failure"
I was a kid when this came out and I was already into anime and video games and very shy.
Well this certainly brings back lots of memories. Man Toonami, you will always be one of the greatest anime blocks no matter what.
I'm 40 I lived through the 90's i will forever cherish those years that vibe . Hold it close to my heart. I wish i could return to those times.
Happy anniversary Toonami. Thanks Slim for remastering this! 👏 🎉
I completely agree with everything you said
Sometimes I miss those times. The days before the stupid Naruto and One Piece fans came along.
@@Serching4JerryGarcia agreed I miss those days
They were teaching us important lessons we never knew we needed.
This is my childhood action block that I watched during my elementary school years. Happy 25th Anniversary, Toonami!
This didn't really click until the "Just keep running away?" came along. I remember that so clearly.
Still so good, decades later…
The age slowly sinks into my bones.
always a classic that gives me shivers just as it did all those years ago
"Just keep running away..? ...I'm not running..." This promo has been living rent-free in my head for the last 20 years and it's never looked better in 1080p60fps
So many good memories, coming home after school to watch all of Toonami. Outlaw Star, Gundam Wing, Tenchi Muyo, and DBZ. And hosted by Moltar v2
T.O.M. 2.0 Era was the GoAT!
i’ve been watching this almost weekly for the past several years on youtube, glad to see another spotlight for new audiences to see it
I'm always coming back to this video to when I'm straying off my path or when life gets harsh and when things feel getting bleak
