DItto. I also can't thank you enough, sir! I got the "install OS High Sierra.app" file, tried putting the BaseSystem.dmg file in there, blah blah blah, let's just say it failed miserably. Again, AWESOME tutorial.
By far one of the best tutorials I have ever watched. I was tryin for hours to perform the same process without any luck. Come to find out, I was downloading an incorrect file (.dmg) rather than the .iso file that you showed. Followed your process, worked like a charm. It's been a few years since I've created a bootable usb. Thank you so much! Keep making videos!
You should get an award of some kind for having the only video on this topic that actually articulates the problem and clearly provdes the complete solution. Bravo: worth a follow!

Gratitude is a must. Been struggling for two weeks trying to install back my Mac iOS but never worked until I found your video and within minutes my Mac iOS is back. Thanks 😊 a lot. Nuff love ❤
THANK YOU SO MUCH! For anyone who's still getting a white screen and cursor and giving up hope - it only worked for me when I plugged in the flash drive AFTER power and option. Been driving me nuts for days and it was as simple as that!

I've tried countless videos and software but I do have to say this is one of the best videos for a step by step process. My macbook pro is a 2010 model and for some reason doesn't want to boot or install the software. Thank you so much for these videos, I really appreciate the work and time you put into these!! I'm stuck at the apple logo with progress bar but no progress, at first it said that the file was damaged or something and to restart.
Thank you so much for your support! I'm sorry to hear that you had problems with the installer not installing. I do have a few suggestions for fixing the installer and getting macOS back up and running on your Mac. 1. Rebuild the flash drive with the steps in the video one more time to make sure the installer is working properly. 2. Try a different (even new if you have one) flash drive to put the macOS installer on. Then try booting again. 3. Make sure the flash drive is plugged directly into a USB port on the Mac and not a USB hub connected to the Mac. 4. Zap the PRAM by shutting down the Mac (or turning it off), turn the Mac on and immediately Press and Hold Command+Option+P+R on your Mac Keyboard, continue to hold the keys until the Mac chimes 3 times, then let go of the keys and hold down the Option key on your Mac Keyboard. See if the flash drive shows up now. 5. Reset the SMC for your Mac by following the instructions on this page, support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295. If you try all of those suggestions and it is still not allowing you to install macOS High Sierra, please let me know and I will be glad to help you 🙂
Thanks for the tutorial. I followed your method from A-Z twice but unable to boot from the USB3.0 16Gb thumb drive. I used 3 different ones with same result. Then I watched another tutorial and used diskpart to clean, convert to GPT and set primary the thumb drive. Then I restarted your tutorial with this thumb drive and is a success.
Thank you so much for this video. Still helping in 2024. The download off internet archive took over a day for me to finish. Was going at 56kb/second! I had looked at many other methods but this was the cleanest and simplest. Well done.
This works! Thank you so much for doing this tutorial. Without your video I have to pay 18 dollars to get it fix. I can't thank you enough (The download website had been down for almost 2 weeks, but they already fixed it)
I have to say, by far this was the best solution for me. I tried several different ways to install an OS after everything was erased and none of them worked. Great job and thanks for making this video.
I am doing this right now. I can honestly say you did the absolute best job of showing, instructing and executing these instructions. Your pace was amazing. - Thank You,
As others have said, your instructional video is the best I've found on TH-cam to do this. I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to fix my macbook. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Excellent detailed video with exact easy to follow instructions. Thank you. Saved my 2011 Imac from going into the trash. I was so fed up trying to access the recovery server that was never available. I had given up.
Thank you thank you thank you. I cant thank you enough! I tried contact with apple support several times. All of them I was told to take my iMac to the closest Store. Hey Brother I have tried this many times but the Installer will not pop up. Is there anything I need to do differently. I have a Macbook Pro Intel I5 2017
I followed each and every step you listed. Happy to say I now have a bootable El Capitan installer for my old 2008 Mac Pro. Thanks so much my friend. 👍👍
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I was able to reconstruct my Mac-mini that corrupted due to a power failure. No other videos/instructions on the internet enabled me to successfully bring it back to life but your method did the trick with ease!
I'm new to iMac's and my neice got a broken iMac for xmas. Was banging my head against a wall creating the installation media to get it working again. Following this worked like a dream. Thanks you so much mate.
Your videos were amazing. I followed every single step and poof it worked. lol. You are a great instructor. The only suggestion I would provide is if you could speak/go through the process a little slower. lol. I had to replay the downloading software and programs like 10 times because you were coding the messages so rapidly. But you are great and if you do mechanical internal upgrade videos as well, I am willing to watch. Good Job with these series of videos. My situation was I had purchased a Mac Mini from 2011, upgraded the Hard drive to a 1TB SSD, so used your videos for the software and poof, worked like a charm.

OMG, it worked great man! In my case, instead of using a macOS to use, I installed Linux Mint and it was a successful set up and boots up properly. Thank you very much, won't forget this tutorial of yours!! :))
That's awesome! I'm glad you were able to get a bootable flash drive of Linux Mint and get it up and running! I hope you enjoy it and I appreciate you 🙂

Such an amazing tutorial, very informative and direct, thank you. Out of all videos I've watched, this is by far the best and all you need really. Explains everything very well. Well done.
Thank you so much this is so straight forward and simple compared to other videos I've watched most of them lead to the point where you get the DMG and I me being me I automatically went to Archive but I was stumped forever trying to figure out how the heck to turn that iso into a DMG this saved me alot of time.... Thanks again!
Thank you so much. You are the man! My sister gave me her 2012 MacBrook Pro and unfortunately after i wiped it clean, i was unable to boot up. I searched other "solutions" on youtube but none of the videos helped. Then i came across yours. Thank you so much, keep up the great work.
Thank you so much!!! Your video walked me through the process with ease! I am finally able to get the old Mac up and running so I can recover itunes and all my old music files. Thanks a million!!!!!
Thanks, man! I actually build PCs. My folks gave me an old Mac they had to just use as a little media center in my shop, and it needed a complete new OS install. And was just lost. Lol. I worked tech support for the government back in the late 90s early aughts. When we would get a Mac call, we had one guy. The problem was that we never got Mac calls because they didn't have the same issues back then. Pointless story, but I appreciate the walk through. And now I know. Though I will probably never use this knowledge again. Still good to know. Very nice walk through and easy to follow.
Thanks brother, really helped out since I was having trouble with the screen with the folder with the X and that it could not connect to the recovery servers. Doing this solved my problem. Thanks again.
THANK YOU SO MUCH. My son received an old iMac from a family member and I spent an entire week trying to figure out how to do this without any luck and you literally saved the day.
Thank you soo much Sir!! Your tutorial is by FAR the best I found on youtube after not reaching to install high sierra from the apple recovery server that says there was no connection. I think apple shut them down.. Thank you very much for your video!!!!!!
Flawlessly!! ---combined your steps with OCLP to upgarde from High Sierra to latest version of Sonoma. What is old is new again!! ;) Thanks Again ! @@IT101
Thanks you so much 🙂 At the moment, I do not have a video on installing the macOS on a Windows PC. I do have videos on installing the macOS on a Mac computer. I will be glad to work on creating a video for you that shows how you can install the macOS on a Windows computer.
If your hard drive or flash drive has been used by PC, should you reset its state to basic universal ? ...by using the command diskpart ? ... I had a few spare SSDs and when I tried to install or copy or clone the old disk it always gave me error messages. But when I used diskpart, list drive,... clean then active commands on that device, it was like a never used hard drive or flash drive and everything the PC could throw at it like using transmac, worked flawlessly. Cheers.
Man i pulled out my old imac lolll..thought i was sol until i came across your video. Followed and it works again. I erased everything and couldnt reinstall!..thank you!!!
I did all the steps now my problem is when I use disk utility from my macbook air (command+r then disk utility) to restore my macbook when I click restore I can't install it from there the file from the bootable usb is greyed out do you have any suggestions?
1. First thing I would check is if your MacBook Air is compatible with macOS 10.13.6 High Sierra. 2. I would also Zap the PRAM by shutting down the Mac (or turning it off), turn the Mac on and immediately Press and Hold Command+Option+P+R on your Mac Keyboard, continue to hold the keys until the Mac chimes 3 times, then let go of the keys and hold down the Option key on your Mac Keyboard. See if the flash drive shows up now. 3. Then I would seset the SMC for your Mac by following the instructions on this page, support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295. After you perform all of those steps, the flash drive should show up as bootable when you turn the Mac on and hold down the Option key to show your boot options/boot menu. I hope that helped. Please let me know if you have any problems, I will be glad to help you 😊
Your video was great. I was able to get my iMac 2015 that was wiped to be able boot. Now I am running into an issue that it only shows the USB as disk to install. How do I get it to recognize the internal hard drive?
Hi @StephanGruzinski. You might need to go into the Disk Utility once the Installer first boots up. See if the internal hard drive is showing up. If it does show up, then you might want to format the hard drive (as long as you don't need the information and you have a backup). Then see if the hard drive shows up when you try and install the macOS. Let me know if that helps.
I download the High Sierra file dmg from Apple and after performing the rest as seen in the video my MacBook Pro doesnt recognize the USB after three attempts as bootable
This is a fantastic Tutorial. I had forgotten how to do most of this stuff, it's been awhile since i needed to. If i may suggest to go one step further and do a tutorial on the installation process from the USB until it is installed . Thanks for such a well explained tutorial. Liked and subbed.
First thanks for that tutorial. I'm a new Mac-User and had a question. Can I use this way to update my 10.10.5 (Yosemite) to High-Sierra or will I need another way?
Hello, I have a question, I created a bootable USB but for macOS Ventura and another for BigSur, according to your instructions, and I have an iMac late 2012 (16GB RAM, 500gb SSD Samsung Evo, i5 2.9GHz, GeForce 640M 512MB), this iMac had the last supported OS Catalina, because catalina doesn't support my stuff, so I wanted to have BigSur or Ventura, but when I go to the boot menu and click on USB boot Ventura, only a crossed out circle pops up and nothing more, could you please help me?
Great Video. I'm new to Mac and wanted to know if you upgrade Sierra to High Sierra this way will I lose all the Data and accounts that were installed on my Sierra MacOS? When you restore the 10.13.6 image to the Imac 10.12.6 does it just upgrade the System or does it reformat the Imac drive and I lose all my data? On windows I upgraded the OS from windows 10 to windows 11 and all my apps and data were still there? Does your method just burn the image into the Recovery Partition or the main Partition or Both? Backing up all my Apps & Data to an external drive is not Possible. Any way to upgrade without the DMG file reformatting my 500 GB main or recovery drive? Any help on this?

Thanks, man! I actually build PCs. My folks gave me an old Mac they had to just use as a little media center in my shop, and it needed a complete new OS install. And was just lost. Lol. I worked tech support for the government back in the late 90s early aughts. When we would get a Mac call, we had one guy. The problem was that we never got Mac calls because they didn't have the same issues back then. Pointless story, but I appreciate the walk through. And now I know. Though I will probably never use this knowledge again. Still good to know. Very nice walk through and easy to follow.
Thanks so much. Let me know if I can help with anything else. 😊
This is super useful and you are great at explaining everything step by step. :)

Very easy-to-follow tutorial. I am wondering do you have any video on installing a Mac on a Windows computer to have a dual boot system?
Thanks you so much 🙂
At the moment, I do not have a video on installing the macOS on a Windows PC.
Cheers.
Great video, took me hours to figure out! Came up this video 10/10 boom sorted even more basic explanation which any beginner can do :)
Awesome! So glad to hear that it worked for you 😊
Man i pulled out my old imac lolll..thought i was sol until i came across your video. Followed and it works again. I erased everything and couldnt reinstall!..thank you!!!
Awesome! So glad to hear that it is up and running 😊
Thank you I appreciate it and I spent all night trying to find the perfect video and you popped up plus it’s 06:26 in the morning
Glad I was able to help. Thanks so much 😊
I download the High Sierra file dmg from Apple and after performing the rest as seen in the video my MacBook Pro doesnt recognize the USB after three attempts as bootable
This is the best tutorial on how to this procedure. thank you.
It's my pleasure 🙂 Thanks so much! I'm glad this helped you.
This is a fantastic Tutorial. I had forgotten how to do most of this stuff, it's been awhile since i needed to. If i may suggest to go one step further and do a tutorial on the installation process from the USB until it is installed . Thanks for such a well explained tutorial. Liked and subbed.
Thanks so much! I appreciate your feedback and will be glad to make a video on the installation process 😊
First thanks for that tutorial. I'm a new Mac-User and had a question. Can I use this way to update my 10.10.5 (Yosemite) to High-Sierra or will I need another way?
That was painless!
I may have to come back if I run out of batter for download. We’ll see.
I appreciate your help. Thank you! ❤
It's my pleasure. I am glad to hear that this helped you 🙂
Hello, I have a question, I created a bootable USB but for macOS Ventura and another for BigSur, according to your instructions, and I have an iMac late 2012 (16GB RAM, 500gb SSD Samsung Evo, i5 2.9GHz, GeForce 640M 512MB), this iMac had the last supported OS Catalina, because catalina doesn't support my stuff, so I wanted to have BigSur or Ventura, but when I go to the boot menu and click on USB boot Ventura, only a crossed out circle pops up and nothing more, could you please help me?
