Gotta love this channel... it's like a Disney version of Peter Santenello... going into communities but with none of the heavy stuff...just light cuteness 😅 ❤
@JetLagWarriors Peter Santenello: "Welcome to this episode from the Amish community, as we deconstruct, analyse and rebuild the Amish identity in the context of modern America..." Steve: "Welcome to this episode from the Amish community... oh my gosh this coffee milkshake is amazing!! You guys gotta try it out...hey,Ivana, come check out this coffee milkshake...! 7 stars!" 😂❤
The Amish ask build tiny houses (cabins) on wheels that can be run entirely off grid and are made to highest quality standards. If you can get one of those, you can live the super low cost lifestyle anywhere you want.
Hi guys, loving watching your videos. Reminding of my visit in 2020. I bought my young son from Australia to compete in the Lancaster Classic archery competition. You should check it out. The store is amazing, have a go yourself on their indoor range ect. It must be only a few weeks away. Thousands compete. But for me, I loved the thrift stores further out of town, and watching the amish ladies gayhering to quilt together for charity upstairs above one of the stores. Wonderful people.
The Amish Experience I haven't been there since I was three or 4, but my parents can't believe I recalled seeing Jacob's Choice all these years later. Here's another fun fact: if you have ever seen the movie Witness, the marble wooden game shown here was created by the late Mr. Lapp, whose furniture shop is across the street from Kitchen Kettle Village. I've spent almost the last 20 years in LanCo on weekend trips. I miss it and haven't been there in a few years.
Sucks about your water tank. I'm in Central Pa, when did it get cold enough to freeze your water lines? It was cold about 2 weeks ago (mid to late Dec. 2024) but I didn't think it got that cold. Anyway, hope you made it home safe. If you have any of the Apple Butter left you should try it with some cottage cheese, A co-worker taught me the Apple Butter - cottage cheese thing decades ago and it's really good. Or try it on bread toasted like a jam or jelly which it is a substitute for anyway. Scrapple is and is not an Amish thing. Good scrapple can come from an Amish manufacturer but it is also on most breakfast menus in the greater Philadelphia area which encompasses Central to South Jersey, All of Eastern PA (from Scranton to almost Baltimore in MD and from Harrisburg all the way to Atlantic City) and most of the state of Delaware. Most of the scrapple is made by large pork processing plants and it was more than likely the scrapple you would have been served at breakfast. The brand I enjoy is from a company called Habbersets but it's a personal choice thing and a lot of people might recommend a different brand. Delaware is interesting when it comes to the Amish because they have a decent sized Amish community but don't have the tourists. You really have to know somebody to be invited to visit that Amish sect. Again hope all is well and good tidings in this new year.
The solar panels are allowed on the barn not on the house and they also have phones in the barn but not in the house. Their homes are very modern and beautiful. They convert lamps to battery power. It's pretty fascinating. Propane stoves, ect.
If you haven't been there yet...Bird In Hand farm market (I'll send you to my BFF Amish friend!) She owns Auntie Ruthie's Specialties & Aunt Ruthie's Coffee & Tea. If you return in the spring or summer (Rt. 340 has a children's amusement park), and next to it is the Amish farm & house (my other BFF Amish friend sells her crafts in one of the sheds outside. I prefer the self-guided tour. As for buggy rides, I'd say Red Caboose...which one of the actors from Amish Mafia used to work at with another one of my Amish BFF's who sadly passed a few years ago. But I know at least one of the horses since she was the first one I ever took a buggy ride with! Kauffman's apple butter...yum & Jake and Amos is good, so is the popcorn seasoning! If you are looking for a good market to take fresh food (Stauffer's of Kissel Hill. If you like pork, they have the best pork chops ever!) It's so easy to spend a lot of money in LanCo!!! It doesn't take much!!
You guys know that you can visit Amish country about an hour from the GTA. Try visiting the Kitchener Waterloo Area. Everything Amish you found so interesting can be found in your own backyard including farms, markets etc.
Or Homemade biscuits with butter and Apple 🍎🍏 butter while warm 😋😮 so Yummy, my daddy got me eating it after dinner 🤤 as a dessert too ❤️🫶🏻❤️❣️ ... It is love 😍🥰💯
Sorry for your incident. What about insulating the pipes? Apple butter is a concentrated apple sauce and you eat it on bread, toast sometimes with oatmeal or even cook with it. It's like a jam. Scrapple...you didn't miss anything. I'm the person that would try any food, but scrapple, i could not eat it. It's an acquired taste. Good luck on your adventure.
Hmm yeah, I will figure something out. Insulate the pipes, or direct some heat from the furnace to under the bed, or something. Best solution might just be to stay away from cold weather in the end
you could have some extra water valves around your system so you can isolate a specific area that has the problem without needing to lose all your water
Rumspringa is a thing. But most people mistake Mennonites for Amish. As a Pennsylvanian, I can tell the difference in a nanosecond. You don't find Hutterites around here, though. Scrapple is disgusting; Spam is better. Apple butter, pumpkin butter, etc, all pretty much taste the same, the way pumpkin pie and sweet potato pie do -- same spices used in them.
That new law of the amish with batteries make really easy to "cheat" their supossed lifestyle . Nowadays you have huge batttery devices that convert DC to AC and can power anything literally . And with the battery idea wouldn´t an eletric car be amish ??Wouldn´t a laptop be amish ?? kinda confusing that law . Big kisses for you 3 🥰😘
Hmm, good question. Maybe some people who personally know some Amish people can help us here in the comments. I'm also curious as to whether they have laptops or cell phones, and how to reason not having them, if they have solar panels, batteries and a d/c power inverter.
When you cook the scrapple, make sure to fry it. It needs to be crispy for the best taste. Im glad you enjoyed Lancaster. It's been my home for years.

Love it!
I have never cooked with apple butter. I will have to try that. I just use it for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Awesome! Apple butter is used more like Jam.
I assume this was filmed before you went home for Christmas. I hope you brought some of those products home for the family.
Put apple butter on bread (homemade preferred) or on toast. Yummy 😋

Oh Crap!!
We made apple butter at home.... Didn't use cider, so not as intense... Put it on toast instead of jelly.... well except for me, I wasn't a fan of it.
