Wow does it bring back memories my dearly departed father in 1964 got me a Music master with an amp and the case from 1960 from the music store I was taking lessons out for $110 for the complete package including a strap and an extra set of strings I was over the moon oh my friends are really jealous thanks for the memories
I just realized why we love GOTD: At it’s core, it’s a time machine. We get to travel back to when the particular guitar (and maybe ourselves) were young. Thanks for the awesome trip!
Michael, you're a damn awesome guitarist. Everything you've played so far that I've listened. Ton, some sweet vintage gear has been absolutely amazing. I really enjoy your videos.
Michael...do us all here in LEMMOLAND a MASSIVE favor...host a MASTERCLASS...show us your gear, talk about your influences, give us insights into how you compose these instrumental pieces and give us more of your awesome playing....BUT...you MUST BRING JEN WITH YOU....we love her and you both make a great team...and we all wonder if she plays? Have a great day bro and thanks for making all of our days inspirational. All the way from Canada
Wow! This axe definitely brings me back to my youth. It’s 1969 and I picked up my 59 Melody Maker and my best friend bought his music master setting us up as he’s a Fender guy and I’m a Gibson guy for decades. We sounded so good together each cutting through the mix and blending like a PB&J sandwich. Yumm!! Loved the vintage necks on both of our early guitars. So great to see so nice an example of a fun player guitar. We still have em ‘ Thanks.
Hey Michael greetings from Liverpool, England 🇬🇧 😀 I've got my Norman's rare guitars t shirt and I'm off to tenerife in 4 weeks , so may be the only one on the island wearing one ? Gonna visit the hard Rock Cafe while I'm there ,and wear it 😊🎸!! I watch these clips every morning before go to work , wishing I could stay at home and play guitar all day , but hey needs must eh...😧 keep rocking and keep the faith 🙏 😎👍
My cousin had a Musicmaster this color and a Priceton amp. He wasn't playing the guitar and kindly gave it and the amp to me. This was 1969 and my first guitar. I used to bleed on the pickguard from just learning and flailing away. The amp and guitar are long gone but I do have a nice Strat and a Blues Junior, among others. I had forgotten about this guitar and how it started me on the road to... Thanks for the memories Norm, Lemmo, and Jen. Cool.
Thank you guys so much for doing these videos. It literally is a part of my daily routine. Haven't missed an episode in the last couple years. Keep it up!
a 1971 Fender Musicmaster, my first electric guitar bought for $50 in 1975. I upgraded the pick up & twenty years later I sold it to my friend for $100 and he threw in an old 63' blonde bandmaster amp with broken speakers. Still got the 63' Fender amp.
With all thats going on ,Grief ,Loss ,questions, whenI see new Guitar of The Day I check out of that and dig this ,Thanks Jen I seen you longest and Lemo you are holding your own and now surrounded by great players in the store.Thank all of you especially Norm
wow I've got a 1977 it needs a nut and has a hum, I didn't think it was worth anything but I'm going to get it playing again, I think I bought it new for under $200
I've owned one. Same colour same year😁. The bridge was bad. Very simple and rough. The tuners were...uhmmm just ok😊. Th sound was amazing. Very natural. Clean. We replaced the bridge and added an extra element. A Seymour Duncan on the bridge side. The change was insane, and blended well with the neck pickup. The scale is shorter, but very convenient for me! Wonderful guitar. My dream is to own a '63 model.
This is the first time I can remember a price being announced on GOTD. What is the world coming to!? I’ve maxed out my music budget for a while but that seems like a super fun guitar.
I had exactly the same 12 years ago. I loved it and played it on stage. But it was really heavy. I know all musicmaster aren’t. Very comfortable neck and great sound !
My first guitar was a blue 1968 Musicmaster, purchased by my father when I was 14. It was $125 back then, which translates to $800 in 2021 dollars. I also received a used Princeton (non reverb) amp. Some years later I sanded the finish off the Musicmaster and gave it a shellac finish. Yes, I didn’t know anything about woodworking then. If you come across a really ugly Musicmaster, well, now you know. The transformer on the Princeton burned out, so I replaced it with a bigger one and replaced the 6V6s with 6L6s. A friend later converted the Princeton into a Boogie clone and put a JBL speaker in it. I wonder where it is now?
I have an 1978 Musicmaster in Wine red, i have been searching, but i have not found a single one (! )with the same finish on net...? I might have a rare example, it has the same finish as they used on the Musicmaster Bass the same year.
i have a wine red 78 musicmaster bass and have been searching for a matching musicmaster guitar for 20 years and have never seen one. most of them are black or white. the wine red bass is also somewhat rare, it seems fender made more musicmaster basses than musicmaster guitars. oddly i have seen wine red strats and teles from the same era.
@@goldwax idk how I made that mistake 🤷 , I have a Fender MIM Olympic White Strat, my Jazzmaster and Mustang, both not Fenders, are called Vintage White by their manufacturers.
This is a 24 inch scale. You can tell because it has 22 frets. Pre cbs musicmasters and duosonics had a 22.5 scale. After 1964, you could get either 22.5 or 24. I'm not positive but I have a feeling they weren't making the shorter scale by the time 1978 rolled around. Fun fact: put a capo on the first fret of a 25.5 scale and it's roughly a 24 scale. On the second fret it's about 22.5.
That one is. You can tell by the 22 fret neck. Pre cbs instruments had a 22.5 scale, then 22.5 and 24 were available after 1964. I'm not positive but I think they had dropped the shorter scale by 1978

Back in 1979, my high school stage band had this exact model for me to use.....loved this guitar and I still love my Strat! Cheers!!!
I played my ‘68 Musicmaster in my high school stage band 1969-1971.

Both songs were soothing. Michael is a magic man.
I have this exact same guitar; very nice in it's simplicity and I use it a lot in a live setting.
Yes memories from days gone by! A student staple from way back when. Love the guitar!

Cool.
Fender fun at its best, all where you pick is tone. Great for jamming with the old Television or Ventures records.
The Music Master guitar and amp were entry level Fender products. Still better quality than Squier today and made in USA!
Love the Simplicity of this rig! Thank for another pick me up today! Lemmo and Norm's ROCKs!!!!

That was a beautiful demo, my man. Loved both of those progressions/riffs. This guitar (and your skills) sound pleasant and smooth.
Lemon that sounds awesome thanks for sharing and God’s blessings for you and all your family
Maybe bring back “affordable favorites”. This episode made me think of that. Thanks!
I love my 66! I gotta get it refreshed. It sounds amazing.

It's Mike lamo the singer of the hit song la tequila!
I would love for squier to bring this model back, the idea of having a guitar with a single pickup would seem ideal to me
Another cool 1977 Musicmaster. Great performance. Thanks for sharing.

This would make for a great reissue. Thanks for sharing ♥️
Every day is fine when we have Michael and all the boys and girls playing for us, thank you
That’s a good thing to put out the price 👍🏻
Easy listening at its BEST ❤️❤️❤️
This is the first time I can remember a price being announced on GOTD. What is the world coming to!?
I’ve maxed out my music budget for a while but that seems like a super fun guitar.
Did not think Norm worked with many guitars in that price range
I have a Fender Sonic Reducer that i play every day and love it.
I had exactly the same 12 years ago. I loved it and played it on stage. But it was really heavy. I know all musicmaster aren’t.
Very comfortable neck and great sound !
Yeah, you did it again.
👍✌❤😎
Cute guitar, wonderful color
A very pretty piece. I love the color.
One pickup is all this guitar needs! Great video Lemmo and NRG team
Very sweet guitar I got a 78’ music master 3/4 bass same color and same color pick guard
Sweet little guitar ✊💥. Love to y'all at the shop.
Outstanding camera work, Jen
I’ve never seen, or even heard of, a Musicmaster before. So cool to see some of the stuff you knew of.
I have a Squier Musicmaster bass and it's AWESOME! They only made them for two years.
Your videos make my day!!!
Great job Jen & Michael
From ‘Blue Comet’ to maybe ‘Red Star’? Did we get to hear 2 more new pieces your working on ML? Sweet, timeless Fender entry axe…thank you..
First song was beautiful
Lemmo mode activaaaate
I just love the way you play, man,
in love with that second riff, someone please post a lesson or something!
Mate just watch his hands it's not hard
@@hughmungus6717 suppose you're right - anyone can play like Michael Lemmo by watching his hands...
Wow maravilhoso fui em muitos lugares pôr um curto tempo...
Very cool one-pickup guitar!
Just found this same on on CL here in MA.
nice to see 70s vintage guitars going up in price as an owner. Just don't see them traded in much in stores near us anymore.
Did I hear someone on bass in the background playing the Meters? Right on!
Very cool sound!
Love to see you play a mustang. Had one mid 70s great playable guitar
I am the 4 th person to reply. So now handover the t shirt
Man that thing is sweet
I have a black 1976 Musicmaster. I got it at Norm’s about 20 years ago. Mine didn’t have the original case. These went for $300 back then. Oh well.
Tomo approved
I dig it.
Nice vid but waiting for a loop/dist lead bit at the end.
Still great !!
What is the first song he played it was absolute bliss to my ears
It sounds like “Love is the Answer” by England Dan and John Ford Coley
I sleep all day, out all night! I know where you’re goin’!

Need tabs or chords for that wonderful progressions
who needs two pickups when one sounds that good?
Very cool guitar - nice sound. What’s the second song?
Nice
I'm your host, Lichael Memmo.
It's pretty cool. But I gotta have that bridge pickup
Nice to see a budget guiyar. How about a Harmony oe EKO for flat top Friday sometime?

Te admiro Lemmo! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Um gaúcho guitarrista, sou eu!
What was that first song that Michael played called? I do not know nirvana that well, but love the tune!
What is the first song, is it an original composition? Its a great chord progression
I was wondering the same, anyway I'll learn it. Sounds so nice
It sounds like “Love is the Answer” by England Dan and John Ford Coley
How exactly does the offset nirvana sound go again
What is that off-white color called. I'm look to acquire that same look in a telecaster. With a rosewood finger board. Love ya guys
It's called Vintage White
@@davidkastin4240The official Fender name for it is Olympic White.

What's the name of the second song? It remind me something but I can't find...
Love the new album Mike! You think a norms shirt would look cool on the streets of Galway?
What is the second song I recognize it

@@graysonschissler6215 awesome thanks for the info !👍🏻
Mustang vibes
basically. the 1978 musicmasters used the same bodies and necks as the mustangs, both the guitar and bass versions.
Wacky Wednesday is so wacky.
$1395 for a ‘78 Musicmaster. I wonder how much a vintage Duo-Sonic can go for? So there are still vintage Fender mere mortals can afford.
can i have it?
One wonders what sort of price Norm paid for this one and the bass
