Hi Robert, just a quick question, just watched your fitting of the 1inch ball fitting to your brake resevoir, is the ball steel or composite material and are the spacers metal or plastic? Thanks from over the pond.
I want to say the device itself is a hard polymer plastic of some kind, not metal… same for the spacers. The bolts are metal and the ball is a much softer plastic or hard rubber… it compresses somewhat as the “Ram Mount” clamp squeezes it. It has worked well however.
That’s interesting I’m not sure I’ve seen a basket. For me, well #1 my wife can’t travel on the bike, and #2 this thing is big and heavy enough (small guy problems) 🙂
Yep protect that motorcycle by choosing a safe place to park it. I’ve seen what happened to you happen to a fellow rider. It was an eye opener for me. People will do the exact opposite of what you think. It’s cheap of Honda not to supply the goldwing with mats from the factory as well as a pan of some type for the bottom of the engine case. I just watched a video of a guys 2021 goldwing non tour dct that he had only for a couple of months hit a speed bump and crack that engine case. Heart breaking video.
I may have seen that video too. There are a few stories like that out there. That’s why I knew it would be one of the first things I buy. Thanks for watching!
On the fender, I'd probably do a self repair with some epoxy, super fine sandpaper, and Honda touchup paint. With the poor state of shop labor at most dealerships, you may come out with less overall damage, time, and trouble.
My fender met a trailer hitch… $389. To replace! ( just the part). Question, with the engine plate, can one just put a motorcycle lift under that to jack the bike up for working on it? ( except oil changes naturally) my 22 is blue, but the new red is a nice color too.
Great question (and seriously love that blue color!!) I’ve heard people say no, specifically about the Traxxion plate as it bolts directly to the engine block. So that’s a risk you’ll have to decide on. For me personally, on my bike, with the Traxxion plate, I don’t have a problem putting a jack under it. Thanks for watching !!
I bought the other engine plate first and removed it right after I was done installing it. The front mounts were garbage and after all the bending to make them fit I didn't trust the thin soft aluminum mounts to hold up over the long haul. That is all a guy needs it so have them fail going 80 mph down the highway. It is now scrap metal in my garage. I have since ordered the one from Traxxion and received it a few days ago. As you said a very well made product and I expect no issues with it.
I went with the wing stuff belly pan protector. Sometimes too rigid of protection can transfer energy when hit and cause damage to where it mounts. I figured the wing stuff shield was strong enough to prevent engine damage without transferring any energy to the engine case if hit. I may be right or wrong in my thinking , but either one is better than nothing.
Bummer. You guys handled that well though. Have you seen what happened to Cruiseman? Similar situation but much more damage and headaches. Nice to meet ya!
Hey FreeRider, thanks for watching and commenting! Yes I actually have breakfast with Cruiseman frequently, we live close. It was just terrible what happened to his bike! He will be okay though!
@@robertwhitemoto riding to breakfast with Cruiseman. Sounds good and glad to hear he's doing well. Did you get the center stand trick yet? I find I have to have the bike straight up both stand legs touching ground, then she goes right up easily. I'll be sure and subscribe. Ride safe bud.
I bought my '89 2 years ago. It had running boards and heel toe shifter. The brake situation was similar. Maybe it was just me, but the bike was frustrating and near unrideable. Bought pegs and shifter from Wing stuff and a stock brake pedal from ebay, and now, it's a dream. Love her now. Tipped it over once because of the running boards (short legs). Ram Mounts makes good stuff. Also added LED lights where I could. And added some. Also added some chrome, mostly due to not being able to find stock parts. She's a sweetheart now, and is a bike the wife and I can enjoy. And do. Great video. Sorry someone violated her. I'd be livid!
Thanks for watching… ‘89’ wow, a testament to the quality of these bikes. In 89 I was riding a Nighthawk 650, and I lucky to be alive from that time period. I’ll add accessories if they are functional, she already looks good so I don’t need aesthetics. As soon as it’s available I’m getting a rear spoiler with integrated and modulated brake and turn signals… need to be seen! Ride safe!
Most definitely LEDs all around. My 2014 has LEDs - up front inude low & high beam as well as fog lights and my signal lights are switchbacks, so they're bright white and turn amber when signaling for a turn. Rear include modulating brake light and a lighted trunk spoiler ...definitely better to be seen than heard.
Robert have you rode your new Gold Wing with the floor boards, how do you like them compared to the foot pegs, I don’t have my new Gold Wing yet but I’m trying to get my accessories ordered so when I get the bike it’s ready to be picked up
Have the dealer check the front end alignment. A hit that busted the fender might have knocked the fork alignment off or even bend a fork tube without it being visibly obvious.
Hey Robert , Nice Bike. Loving it & your video's... Anyway your back organizer you installed in your trunk. If you never you should watch Traxxion video on some tips of installing that.... awesome & glad I come crossed it.....really good stuff... Just a small heads up. I love my 2021 GWT......red & black ...like the all red on yours
Brian thank you for watching and commenting… I think I have seen Traxxion’s video on that… the dang center rivit keeps popping out :) But thanks for the heads up!
Floorboards are a good addition for comfort. I bought mine at aliexpress with a brake pedal add on and matching passenger Floorboard rubber mats. Quality was perfect and have the same look
Yes it does but it’s designed where removal for oil changes is simple and not as involved as the initial install. Worth it in my opinion. Thanks for watching !!
I cover my bike even in the garage too. Good habits never die Robert. You are right, the guy was a stand up guy. You might not have seen that until days later and wondered when that happened. You have good karma around you. You are in Frisco. I’m in Hurst. Check out Chris Caliente’s Vlog visit to DFW Honda Powersports in Grapevine, Texas. That’s me and my bike. A 22 Ultra Blue DCT Tour Airbag. Agree the Belly Pan is an absolute must. Traxxion is great engineering. He’s got a few things you might like. An oil dip stick extender and nicely cnc’d 1”-2” phone mount riser to bring the phone up just a bit out of the way of the controls. I’m sure you’ll also figure out all the LED lighting goodies by Gold Strike and Pathfinder to help awaken the way too many distracted motorists on cell phones and technology ladened Cagers. For me the nice unspoken features of this bike are it’s automotive decibel horn and light blue backlit console and handlebar switches for low light and night riding. The DCT of course is a game changer. Love your attention to detail. Your bike looks fantastic. Ride safe and ride often. ATGATT
Road Glide... I know you! from that video :) it was the first time I saw a 2023 wing on camera. I love, love that BLUE !!! would have gone that route if it were available for 23... as a matter of fact when I first put a deposit down months and months ago, it was on a BLUE 22.. was told later that wasn't happening so I went for the Red. I need to check out the dipstick extender ! There is so much to buy for this bike... I'm trying to pace myself and you, Cruisman, and Caliente are NOT helping :) I tell you... I agree with the things you love, I do too but I tried out those grip warmers this morning... OMG where have those been all my life. Thanks for watching Road Glide and I'm sure I'll see you around. Ride Safe.
So sorry that happened to you and your new Gold Wing, I worry every time I park my truck or Mustang anywhere and now I’m getting the new Gold Wing I’ll have to be especially careful where I park
Don't take it to a shop to get looked at. They'll quote you an entire new front fork assembly because it was hit in the front. The front fender is almost $1k and that fork assembly is quite a bit more. Or take it to a shop, the other driver's insurance should cover all of it.
@@robertwhitemoto I totaled my Goldwing by scratching all of the plastic. Two shops said they wouldn't touch my bike unless they replaced the front fork assembly and several other expensive parts. Insurance paid it off and left me enough to get another one though.
I picked up my '23 back in Nov, exact same model and color. I've added a whole bunch of mods to dial it in. I went with the Wingstuff belly pan. My concern with the Traxxion would be what might happen if you smacked something like a squared curb and the impact caught the front edge of the pan and shoved it rearward. Seems possible a shearing force on those front case mounted bolts could crack the case, but that's probably a very worst-case scenario. For the trunk organizer, I ditched the crap Honda push pins and used U-nut clips and screws. The push pins just pop loose if you look at them the wrong way.
Hey I’m Brad I’m in Pennsylvania PA. I have a 2022 black on black Honda goldwing tour dct. That was a nice guy not to many of those glad no one was hurt.
Hey Brad, thanks for watching... I have a daughter that lives in Erie. I am glad this guy did the right thing, and we did end up discussing bikes for a while... I'll be parking far away from cars from now on.
Congratulations, very pretty color. Putting the GW on its center stand is pure technique and doesn't require muscle. Still, you should know Baker makes a ride off center stand. As far as parking on a street with parallel parking, I always park it on an angle with the rear tire backed in to the curb. This provides easy take off and allows multiple bikes to occupy one parking spot. My Utopia backrest is my favorite add on allowing me those 500÷ mile days. Have fun and ride safe!
Hi Robert, Happy New Year from over the pond(Newcastle upon Tyne) thanks for sharing, shame about your mishap but at least he was a stand up guy and straight with you(many wouldn't have nowadays) Only 7 weeks til i get mine but your videos are perfect for me so am now off to source a bash plate and liner for the rear box, thanks again, safe riding, enjoy.
Hey Tang congrats on your pending arrival! Super glad I could help. In a week or so I’ll start putting videos out riding the bike. I can tell you I love it! Working on getting over Covid this week 😔

Happy New Years 2023 🥳 to everyone. Nice 2023 Goldwing Tour Dct model Candy Ardent Red. I'm sorry someone hit your bike Robert. I know you must have been somewhat upset/sad. You made a big investment into that GW. Thank goodness the front fender was the only thing that needs to be replaced. I'll be keeping up with your videos. I'll be getting a 2023 Honda Goldwing Tour Dct model same color as well sometime in April. My Honda Dealership called me last week and said they have one in stock but it was a black GW. I want the Candy Ardent Red so I'll wait until April to get the Red GW. Ride safe💯 Yes indeed I will definitely get an engine guard as well.
Same thing happened to me... dealer called me earlier with a black one... i wanted the red. It did arrive a month ahead of schedule though. I'm too old to get mad about accidents. I was fortunate that he was a good guy. Insurance will take care of it all... eventually. Thanks for watching !!
The trunk mat and organizer where something that the Missenden Flyer did on his Goldwing. TMF is a British Vlogger who has a variety of different motorbikes. Should get the little HERO 11, not the bigger one.. or a 360 One X3
Well, I give him credit. He looked for you to tell you what happened. Some people would not do that. That's why you always see motorcycles parked close to the doors of the establishment they are visiting. I still feel honda shouldn't have changed the large crash bars because just one tip over does expensive damage with 2018+, but not with previous years🤔. You got a nice-looking bike. Ride safe.
Thanks Mo! I do believe I gave him all the credit for being a stand up guy, and very likable honestly... It all ended up good. Thanks for watching and commenting !!
Dan I’ve been told Honda does allow you to perform maintenance on your bike yourself and it will not void the warranty. It’s recommended to keep record and receipts.
Ouch! 2 weeks old and your first little bump. Sounds like you did encounter an honest standup guy. Thankfully there are still a few. I have a similar story and after reading yours..I’ll simply share in the forum. I do have a question. That belly pan is solid and will definitely give protection. Do you know - do you need to remove it to remove the main oil filter…and second oil filter for the DCT? Great detailed video. Thanks
Alf sorry I just saw your comment, and thank you for watching and commenting. As John said, yes you will need to remove it to change the oil but it's an easy process.
I just spent 2,300 on my Goldwing, I drove off a curb that was over 12inches! Hit the oil-pan, oil every where, A complete nightmare, had to buy a new engine and swapped the parts I needed. I'm back on the road but man what a hassle! Remember guys, our Goldwing's aren't dirt bikes! I learned the hard way! Be safe out there.
Get yourself in the habit of putting the parking brake on every time you get off the bike. Would be really easy with the DCT to roll off the sidestand.
Sorry to hear about your new baby getting baptised so soon. Luckily the guy who hit you was a stand up dude. some people would have left you footing the bill. anyway nice bike, and be safe. by the way, whenever I park my bike, I don't parallel park. I back it in at a 45 degree angle. this way people see it.
@@robertwhitemoto Here in California, it's actually a parking violation if you DON'T park your motorcycle perpendicular, or at an angle, to the parallel-parked cars. If on a street with a curb, law also states that "one tire, either front or rear, must be in contact with the curb" I always assumed this to ensure visibility of the bike.
Nice video. That stinks, getting hit within the first 2 weeks of owning your bike. My brother installed the same footboards and engine guard on his bike. He really loves the floorboards. On my channel, I have a 21 Harley Road Glide Limited and My brother has a 22 Honda Goldwing. So if you are interested, check out the channel. There are a several install videos of different products on there for the Goldwing and more will be coming out in the real near future. Stay safe out there. 👍
Hey there, question from a fan from The Netherlands....you have a great truck,a huge brandnew goldwing....and a house of course.....is that all for a good price in de states? Because I have a good job here in The Netherlands but I can't afford all that beautiful toys for de boys🤣 I like your videos a lot by the way.....don't get me wrong😊 greeting's rene
Hey Netherlands! Thanks for the comment and thanks for the views. The photography side of me really needs to get to the Netherlands some day! As for here… the truck is a lot older than you think and was paid off only recently, freeing up cash flow for the bike. The house is very modest by local standards also purchased 20+ years ago….
Robert - found you purely by luck! Love the pic's in the opening of your video. Today was the first I'd seen you, and I've subscribed. As I watched your video, I was going to comment on watching Chris Caliente, but towards the end you mentioned him. Cruiseman is awesome as well. Another great site is Goldwingdocs. Both the TH-cam and website. Mine is a 2005, and Chris Caliente has shown lots of ideas on that style with his 2016. I've added a belly pan, which is designed to absorb the energy of something flying up and hitting the underside of your bike/engine. Traxxion doesn't make one for the 2001 - 2017, but that's okay. Regular inspection shows whether or not it's taken a hard hit, and cheap to replace. Great job, and I look forward to seeing more of your videos. We got our 2005 in 2017 from the original owner. That was an upgrade from our '84 1200 which I purchased from the original owner in 1993. Outstanding motorcycle, but my wife & I really love the '05 1800. Original owner put just enough bling on it, and we've since bought an 2004 Bushtec Quantum. Been a great trailer for those longer trips. Take care.
Hi, I am from Berlin-Germany and flew into Calgary with the same plane in 1988..! My bike was a Honda 750 K model, converted into a chopper with the foot in forward-control. This bike was fitted with a mercury-alarm system, if something bad happens.. First.. went to bed in a motel, when a elderly lady slammed my bike with her drivers-door.. stepping out. Second.. invited by a Canadian motorcycle group in Lethbridge, for a Sunday breakfast in a Restaurant... my alarm sound was clear to hear inside of the building. As I ran outside, the Boss of that group started to lift his bike up on the parkinglot.. he was to fast and has hit my bike with his Harley. It damaged my brake footpedal, also at forward position. Something else was damaged, too.. but I can't remember. In total, the damage was around 400 bucks.. I got this amount right on the spot, without the police etc. Without my alarm.. I would'nt get notice of these incidents.. I can only urge people, to install a alarm.. if you leave your bike. (By the way.. later at their clubhouse.. my alarm was going on an on.. till I noticed, that members clapped their hands on my seat.. to hear the horn noise) Sorry for my English Best greetings to all.! Ride free, ride safe
It’s all good 👍

Thanks for watching.. I’m subscribed to TMF, really enjoy his channel. I got zero funds for cameras in 2023 :-)
Well, I give him credit.
Nice review keep up the good work
Thank you Marcus !!
Is it recommended to service a brand new motorcycle yourself, what about the warranty?
Dan I’ve been told Honda does allow you to perform maintenance on your bike yourself and it will not void the warranty. It’s recommended to keep record and receipts.
Ouch! 2 weeks old and your first little bump. Sounds like you did encounter an honest standup guy. Thankfully there are still a few. I have a similar story and after reading yours..I’ll simply share in the forum. I do have a question. That belly pan is solid and will definitely give protection. Do you know - do you need to remove it to remove the main oil filter…and second oil filter for the DCT? Great detailed video. Thanks
Yes it takes less than 5 minutes to remove the engine guard to change the oil and DCT filter.
Devon, dude that’s terrible! So sorry bud. Be safe!
I did that on my Cb500. No injury. I also went up a curb that I thought was sloped but was not. No injury. I guess I will have to keep that bike.
My Mustang is a 2012 GT premium, 6 speed manual, it’s my baby
Get yourself in the habit of putting the parking brake on every time you get off the bike. Would be really easy with the DCT to roll off the sidestand.
I’m all over that Mike! Thanks for watching!
Learned my lesson Bikercat! Thank
You for watching
@@robertwhitemoto Here in California, it's actually a parking violation if you DON'T park your motorcycle perpendicular, or at an angle, to the parallel-parked cars. If on a street with a curb, law also states that "one tire, either front or rear, must be in contact with the curb" I always assumed this to ensure visibility of the bike.
Chilly!! 58-60. You don't know what chilly is, chilly round here is 13 degrees!
It's definitely relative Peter. Thanks for watching !
Thanks Roy, I definitely will!!
👍
Thank you for watching !
Surprised the guy said anything
me too, pleasantly. There are a few of us left in the world.
So you’re telling me someone stuck around (for you) to confess (to you) he backed up into your bike? My goodness, there is hope for America after all.
Ain’t it the truth!! Stand up guy!!
@@robertwhitemoto thanks for the explanation your truck looks great👌
Atta boy!
Hh
Take care.
Jim, thank you for watching
(By the way.. later at their clubhouse.. my alarm was going on an on.. till I noticed, that members clapped their hands on my
seat.. to hear the horn noise)
Sorry for my English
Best greetings to all.!
