I found RRR unplayable until I got a mad catz steering wheel. Once I had analog steering the whole game changed, it just wasn't programed well to work with a D-pad. I've got a feeling it was Namco pushing that weird analog controller of theirs they had at the time that you would twist in the middle to steer.
Great comparison, very close but i think you got it spot on. I've got both games and think they're both great, hell of a match up. This series is getting good, is it first to 10?
When it comes to steering on Ridge Racer you have to learn how to control it much like Wipeout it has a unique handling method that said I do like both games Ridge Racer and Daytona USA.
I think SEGA Rally is the best racing game of its generation and a half, but I'm unable to choose between Ridge Racer, Ridge Racer 64, and Daytona; I like them all. Daytona is the overall better game from a subjective standpoint and has more replay value, but Ridge Racer is arguably the best PlayStation (not N64 though) had to offer. So I can't choose just one.
It's definitely a tough choice between these two games. Gran Turismo destroys all the other racers from the generation with ease though. Thanks for commenting!
I've always loved how Daytona looks but never liked how it plays. Also the music too. Definitely a game I appreciate rather than like. Ridge Racer Rev I absolutely love though. The sliding does jerk until you learn how to do it. Both games are tough really, unlike racers today...
Believe me. The old Ridge Racer games play horrible if you are playing with the camera in the back, BUT... If you play it in the bumper-car camera, it actually becomes... surprisingly more playable with how it feels. Uhhhhhh... As much of an upgrade to the engine Daytona CCE is... I actually would say i kinda prefer Daytona USA's infamous Saturn port Also... Most cars in the original Ridge Racer, and Revolution, suck, except for the Solvalous.
ridge racer revo certainly looks pretty primitive here. Daytona CCE is probably the best looking saturn racer, so its a tough comparison for an older ps racer. In all fairness to RRR, it runs at a better frame rate and track pop in is almost non existent.
We are going to have to agree to disagree here. Ridge Racer Revolution. Just by the controls and music alone Ridge Racer takes it with ease. The draw distance alone was absolutely stunning back when it came out.
this RR looks much worse than the first one. Not that the graphics are worse, but this trackside detail is uglier and muddier. I like Ridge Racer, Rage Racer and R4. RRR i was never able to enjoy,
Circuit edition (JP) beats CCE and has more Daytona like controls. Also has (even) better visuals than CCE. So, that’s the best looking Saturn racer (CE > CCE)
*Did I get it right? Let me know down below!*

nope, the jogcon came out with ridge racer type 4
edit: nvm just realized you were talking about the negcon
RR Revolution wins. For me, Daytona is the better arcade game overall, the 90s console ports are crappy.
U got to do Dead or Alive PS v Dead or Alive Saturn.
I'll consider it! 😛

It will go as long as I can think of comparisons and have the time and desire to do them! 😆
@@gameshack1985 sounds like a plan to me 👍
For me Ridge Racer Revolution plays much better than this version of Daytona. Still, loved hearing your thoughts as always.
I prefer Daytona port.

I can agree with you on this one, but I still dispute Tekken 2 vs VF2.
😛 Tekken 2 is still great!

Also really have been enjoying your videos.
@@volkte37 thanks!
I can't say I love either one really 😂

RR is definitely more playable in first person, I fully agree!

The best one for frame rate and zero pop-in is Vanishing Point, definitely try that one when you can.

You picked the shitty daytona
@@thisthatpresents3261 both are lol
@gameshack1985 og daytona is my favorite Saturn racer, once you unlock the horse, and green car it's a wrap
