I’m getting it between July and august now .. so very excited to have SUV that smacks stock lambo’s and Ferrari into yesterday’s trash .. and oh yes rated only 6.5 by CD (paid off pansies with an agenda)

    The Model S may not LOOK new from the ground up, but if you follow Sandy Monro's excellent channel, which strips these cars down to the bare frame and discusses the engineering of the vehicles, you'll know that the current Model S has been systematically re- engineered from its initial version. It's a completely different and cutting edge car under the skin.
    The only thing Sandy found to criticise about the Model S was the doors that still use original and outdated assembly techniques.
    I think that sums up TESLA'S approach to product development. Build a vehicle aimed at a particular market segment that, from the very start, is as aerodynamically efficient as possible, then regularly upgrade the engineering to keep it cutting edge while maintaining the original, highly efficient shape.
    Almost by definition, a vehicle optimised for aerodynamic efficiency has a basic shape and, therefore, external look, that can't be changed anywhere near as rapidly or extensively as the interior design or the underlying engineering.

    From Tesla's viewpoint, it's a happy problem to have. From the customer's viewpoint, 'Good things come to those who wait.' Those people who _really_ want those cars will wait. Others will buy elsewhere; hopefully a different Tesla car. But, ultimately, it doesn't really matter if they buy from a competitor, because Musk will have achieved his stated goal; that of encouraging more people to drive BEV's and to stop driving their mobile smokestacks.

    I’ve ordered the model X back in Oct 2021 and yes I just got pushed back from July to October I don’t think prioritizing 3 and Y’s due to price is not the issue as my model X totaled $120,000. Long range FSD cream interior 6 seater. I’m sure at $120,000 Tesla is making plenty of money on each Model X. I currently own a 2016 m X it is the finest car I’ve ever owned I can only imagine how much nicer the new model will be.

    The slight reduction of range of the S and X could be due to the Ryzen MCUs. That's what can be found on the internet, so it must be true. Maybe there will be some info on the S and X in the next conference call in July.

    I have a model X on order since June of 2021, delivery changed 4 or 5 times and is now April 2023. What you are missing here is that the only variant being made is the 6 passenger. The Toyota and Lexus yoke is not the same as Tesla. It comes with steer by wire with continuously variable gearing ratios which basically reduces lock to lock by more thank two and minimises driver input / adjustment whilst improving dynamics. Teslas yoke is just a different style of steering and that’s why it’s been criticised.

    • @Nphen
      @Nphen 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's so weird to me that Tesla wouldn't nail down the yoke experience before releasing it. This gives me worries that Elon really is just forcing engineers to put products out before they're ready. I love what Tesla is doing so it's frustrating when they make unforced errors.

    The battery of an EV is so heavy that it's equal to the weight of six adults that's before the real passengers sit in. The US government will "surprisingly" announce later the repair cost of roads and bridges have tripled because of the impact the millions of EVs have had on the infrastructure.
    FUN FACT:
    If we take the extra weight to be 25% of Telsa model S thats 500 kilograms or more than 1200 lb which is the weight of SIX Americans adults on diet 🤣🤣🤣

    There IS good news! We ordered a model X in April 2021. The expected delivery date changed many times (we lost count) until it settled on July 2022 where it stayed for quite some time. Then, about 2 weeks ago it changed to Dec 2022 - April 2023. I talked with several people at Tesla and one person said to wait a couple of weeks and check for another update. Sure enough, two days ago the website updated our delivery date to July 7 - August 18. So, I'm not sure what happened, but am wondering if others have seen similar updates.

Sure, the air may be cleaner because of EV's, but human behavior is STILL crappy..so, that's why the world is a truly messed up place now, despite the promise that EV's and renewables hold.

      Cities in the US have way too much parking. Empty parking lots everywhere. Making it harder to build housing, ride bikes, and use transit. Just one of the many headwinds to a better world, among them farming practices and economic choices. All decided by fiat. All to prop up profit & power. All could be changed overnight if democracy showed up at the homes of the elite.

  • @Nphen
    @Nphen 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    One more symptom of the broader problem of not having enough EV's for the market, which includes rental companies now. Only good news is more people are obsessively maintaining ICE cars because they realize how valuable they are. I think various global suppliers are still caught up with shortages, now from Ukraine. The timelines get pushed back because production remains at a fixed rate instead of increasing. One comment mentioned not being able to get parts to repair the Model X he already owns. Years of disinvestment in US manufacturing has come home to roost. A lot of people in the US (especially here in Michigan, where we watch factories close) have been talking about this for years, of the corporate sellout of tools & machines to China and lack of manufacturing & skilled trades education.

    Polestar GGPI merger vote is now set for 22nd June with a merger deadline of June 24th. This should help the stock rise as the merger date gets nearer. The Falcon doors are what caused a major delay when they were first going into production. These fancy doors have been a headache for years. It was not that long ago Tesla said they were having issues getting parts for the Falcon doors. Tesla would be wise to offer a Model X without Falcon doors. It could be a lower cost alternative to the Model X and will likely be easier for them to keep up with demand.
    Making sure the Y and 3 are meeting demand is the key to their future. As volume increases on Y and 3, so do profit margins. Combine demand with price and the Y and 3 will make the most money for Tesla, so it makes sense. We keep hearing how GM is trying to roll out dozens of new EV models over the next few years, but that is actually a bad plan. If you design and product a couple of models that nail a large market segment, that is going to get a better ROI than making dozens of models. It is among the reasons I say GM has possibly the worst leadership of any major builder and will likely fail the switch to EVs. GM as a brand may live for decades, if they get bought out. On their own, they will likely die of by 2035 without government bail outs.
    As far as the yoke, Tesla should have had it nailed at low speed use. It sounds like software updates are going to fix or have fixed the issues with the steering yolk at low speed. As more builders add it to their products, people will get use to the yolk.

    • @Nphen
      @Nphen 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dstr1 Between sales in Australia, India, China, and Europe, building Model S & X at both Fremont *and* Indonesia would actually make sense. Every Tesla they ship begets another sale. They will never keep up with global demand unless they can build an Asian supply chain for S & X. If Fremont runs slow with US & Canadian orders, there's the whole rest of both American continents.

  • @JorgeLausell
    @JorgeLausell 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Elon has said they blew the X & S ramp. I think that they misunderstood the power of their own insights embodied in Master Plan Part 1. Build the Roadster to make the money to fund X & S so they can in turn use that money to fund the Y & 3, then an affordable Model.
    Arguably they have made good on the all but last stage there. Working their way through the goals is fair. It seems like they misunderstood it though. It is as if they were sloppy in thinking this to be a bit like a video game where you achieve a goal and move on.
    Tesla ought to have continued with building the high end cars, increasing their price and margins until they fully achieved their goals. They ought to have continued increasing price and building them until the market itself pushed back by leaving them with inventory. Then they build a few limited editions while lowering prices, eventually production.
    My take right now is they ought to go about doing this! And not just for the Model X & S, the Roadster too. Update them all to front & rear gigacastings with structural packs, maybe even doing the Roadster in 1 casting. Call that a 1.5 version, leaving 2.0 for whatever rocketry they may want to add for later.
    Consider that a Roadster 1.5, up against cars commanding many multiples of millions USD, could in turn command much more than the volume 1.0 did, they would make truly nosebleeding amounts of profits-margins.
    I'd use space in GigaAustin to design X, S, & Roaster lines that would transfer to Fremont. This is so Fremont can continue with their current production makeup. Once they get those initial cars rolling out, and Model Y & 3 are zipping along at GigaAustin, then swap out 3 & Y from Fremont, set up the newly designed production lines for the X, S & Roadster. GigaAustin can take on producing all of the 3 & Y in NA, until GigaFlint is up and going. Fremont focuses on X, S & Roadster.

    Yes, the yoke matters. Firstly, it was a solution to a problem that didn’t exist, for the sake of style and because of some people’s desire to pretend they are driving an F1 car. I drive a lot, and I have had the need to respond quickly at times to avoid an accident (every time successful). My first hand experience in those kinds of situations tells me that the missing real estate on the yoke can be problematic in an emergency situation, where instantaneous responses are necessary, one may not have the time to think about where they can put their hands and where they can’t. It hasn’t been tested in those kinds of situations, and everybody who says they like it admits to not having to yet use it in an emergency situation, when I have asked. Fortunately emergencies are relatively rare. Unfortunately, they can be quite devastating when they do happen, especially if a quirk and a whim from an eccentric CEO leaves you with a car that inadvertently has you grabbing a handful of air when you’re attempting to avoid a premature demise.
    The yoke should be optional. Everybody wins that way. It’s only logical. And that’s the next reason why it matters, people expect logical thinking from Elon, and it’s a little disappointing when we see this kind of thinking that he has demonstrated on the yoke situation.

So we are talking about two different things. Sure, it’s fine if you’re just driving around casually, never having to use it in a very specific, rapid and extreme way. But that’s not the issue. You could put practically anything on the steering shaft and it would work fine under those conditions. However, when push comes to shove and you have react quickly and with maximum control, in an extreme steering situation, the yoke can very easily become a problem, that could yield catastrophic results.

      With plenty of cheap good used solar solar panels in Australia, there's no need to rely on fossil fuels for your off grid cabin. With 5kW of PV you can store 30kWh in your car a day and if it supports V2H, or even V2L you can run most appliances at night.

    Tesla needs to have a gigafactory dedicated to Model X and cybertruck, and five more each dedicated to Model S, Model 3 and Model YI. I think that if they could crank out six to eight million vehicles total per year, in about ten years they will catch up with current demand.
