TΩwmaX oh fuck off. They are amazing engines. If they weren’t, they wouldn’t be used on the: L-10-11, 747-200, 747-300, 747SP, 747-400, 757-200, 757-300, 767-200
Very cool video! Here is something I've had never realized before: some airliner horizontal stabilizers have washout much like is used on wings (albeit "upside-down", as their lift is directed down). It can clearly be seen at 04:05 that the horizontal stab's angle of attack is greater at the root (inverted of course) and diminishes toward the tips. Some aircraft like the F-4 Phantom II and Aerospatiale Puma even had fixed, upside-down slats on the leading edge of those stabs. Those ultra-close-up shots are wonderful for seeing stuff like this.
+corisco tupi: we're also seeing the inverted tapered aerofoil section, extenuating the appearance. I suppose cruise tailplane tip vortex reduction (zero "lift" tips) plays a part in the design, it can't be for controlling stall characteristics (as it would effectively be "wash-in", increased AOA at the tip.). ??
The only time I have seen RB211's smoke is during the fitst start of the day or first start after an overhaul. Generally they are a very clean engine.. Are these shots of a sim?
Just asking myself, what does engine smoke on a more modern jet engine indicate? For example, on the 757 only one of the engines was smoking noticeably. Are the injectors worn out or what is the reason?
+Stefano Padrini That was my thought, but I don't have any expertise on the subject at all. I noticed too that on the small twin prop with one engine smoking and the other not, the props seemed to be spinning at different speeds.
To me it seems that the fuel controller is overcompensating for an engine issue or wear, could be the controller at fault. For the piston engine looks like incorrect mixture setting. But in both cases is way too much fuel wasted.
Do you think it's kind of dangerous when the motors are smoking like this? Because for me it looks like the motors will explode or something. I know it's a pretty stupid thought but it looks so dangerous! :D
It's not really dangerous. It's just a sign of an engines age or its bad design (Antonov cough cough...) it can also mean that the engine is burning a little bit of oil, if that becomes excessive, then yes, you're right that is a serious problem, but airliners replenish their oil almost every day because engines always burn some oil.
+LUX Spotting As it says in the description: "All fumes visible in the video are real, but many of the shots have enhanced contrast to bring out the full glory.", so this 757 didn't smoke quite as much in reality. ;-)
I remember watching a fleet of US govt. (President was in town) 747's taking off from canberra in 2003. The last one to lift off (I think there were 4) belched out a steady trail of smoke, probably getting ready for retirement and major overhaul (fuel vaporisation system a bit inefficient) the previous aircraft, left no trail at all. That one most likely WASN'T AF1.
helo there thank you really very much for showing your adventures. the plane at 1:09 is a nice globe earth proof. at 1:46 i look down on a plane wich flies above me ; ). to be honest i would like to see the whole sequence if that is possible, thank you aloha sebastian
In gta V that would be a problem
DJKanias 15 seconds later, engine dies lol
Lysergic Casserole Trevor: START YOU PIECE OF SHIT!
not really - the engines are shut down 5 seconds after take off by someone firing rockets into the plane
This would have been an absolute normal day in the 70ties with the 707 , DC 8 and specially the Convair Coronado
Wish I were alive to see it
Don't forget the 727.
And the dc9
and the other oldie plannes
Smoke fuel everyday....
Your comment with cit. at a song smoke we everyday is so ingenious xD
Those old Antonov's generate their own weather! Great video as ever :)
I've never seen B757 smoke like that; neither PW nor RR, vids show one engine, I think it's a maintenance issue.
I love smoking aircraft.. Wish I could fly in the 60's!
YAY killing the ozone!
Rollin’ coal airplane edition
Some of the planes I see are B757? Those engines on 757 must be very poorly maintained to have such high emission.
Wow wow calm down son
Probably in need of a performance wash

@@twmax4137 rb211 are one of the best engine
@@twmax4137 no there fine
It's not exactly "environmentally-friendly", but it looks aaaaaamazing. Great vid.
Definitely something going on with those 757s and 737s smoking. They are never supposed to smoke like that at all.
Loud and dirty. That's the way it has to be. Splendid!
creates so much smoke in the first clip, bro just made a cloud
Brilliant video ! I look forward to seeing all your videos !
Awesome smoking shots, those An-12's are just insane. Great video!

Excellent video to show that beautiful aircraft are also a big polluters are even those that not emit so much smoke.
teacher = why there are holes on ozone atmosphere ???
Me = *showed this video
What a very black smoke on the airplanes engine and the propeller.
Yes man, but it helps putting very high contrast to highlight smoke!
Great video, some servicing required on some of those engines..!! - Great videography as always
Those 757s were beautiful!
I think the Boeing 757 wanted to be a Convair 990 Coronado when it grew up judging by these clips… love it 😂
gr8 video again ..my favorite aircraft boeing 757..:-)))
Awesome!!! Love the smoke, more please
Great job!
Great videos. Perfect angles and shots.
The first one was filthy!
BEAUTIFUL!!!
the AN-12 is the "Winner" of the "smoke contest" - no doubt!!! ;-) - the surprise for me, was the old RR on the 757...such a "heavy smoker"...wow! ;-)
When budget cuts force you to tank diesel
7249xxl jet fuel and diesel are almost the same just one is cleaner so they work just fine
That’s a lot of smoke
So many 757s!!! I assume it is your favourite aircraft!
Planes like this have to grounded !
Thanks for the video :)
The No Smoking sign is always off on Marlboro Airlines
The airliners flying away from the camera at 1:10 and 4:21 is hilarious. By the way, those are shots from Flight Simulator.
Is this a joke or something? The shots are real but have enhanced contrast.
my guy thinks reality became the flight simulator
The only time I have seen RB211's smoke is during the fitst start of the day or first start after an overhaul. Generally they are a very clean engine.. Are these shots of a sim?
As I remember Tu-154 always had smoking trail
Planes with TDI engines
0:15 the Earth heated up from that.
Just asking myself, what does engine smoke on a more modern jet engine indicate? For example, on the 757 only one of the engines was smoking noticeably. Are the injectors worn out or what is the reason?
All motors smoking= not good, but probably no problem. Only one motor smoking= problem! :)

+SuperZocki It's a sign of inefficient fuel burn.
+jospi2 it can also mean oil burn, right?
2018paulrobbinx
Yes, but that amount that you see here can't be from oil burn alone. Big planes burn fuel by the ton.
+SuperZocki lol
Limited Smoke edition
i buy it
Wtf😳 The 757 at the end
WOW didn't know a 757 could smoke that much!! (the last one)
+LUX Spotting As it says in the description: "All fumes visible in the video are real, but many of the shots have enhanced contrast to bring out the full glory.", so this 757 didn't smoke quite as much in reality. ;-)
Oh okay but nevertheless quite heavy smoke!! :)
Those planes working with charcoal.
Nice video!

This video should have had nothing but 727, 737, etc. these jets were all business. They smoked a lot and man, was it bad ass!
just to get this clear he may not have seen a B727 or the Original B737s *B737-100 B737-200*
Forgot to push the chock back in.
Only came to watch a 757-200 take off
looks like 2 or 3 AN-12 or Tu-154 could hide easily a small town
ahh normal day in 70's
Nice Video :-)
Hm, I did not know that VW built plane engines
Those Planes Want To
Smoke Weed Everyday
OMG LMAO!!! I FOUND AN OLD COMMENT OF MINE!!!! IDK WHY I POSTED THIS!!
Hi this is your future self
very cool :-)
I'm pretty sure they're using diesel, which in certain areas is more common than Jet-A
Air pollution in Russia must be crazy!!!...
Andres Velasquez you think planes that don't blow smoke like that don't pollute the air?
@@H.EL-Othemany They do, just nowhere near as much.
these planes are snoop doggs bros
How we differentiate between an old engine or dirty engine like that and a flame out engine?
Hello snugflug . What is that smoke ? OIl ? or Gas ? or both ?
Thanks
it's gas bro, oil is white
Smoke is mostly carbon particles from bad fuel burning - too low oxygen (rich mixture). It seems as bad working fuel dose controller.
I think the ribs are ready #BBQ
Great Video!
What causes a jet engine to suddenly and incontiously smoke like that?
Old age
probably these planes burst a hole in the ozone layer
They just need new oil rings on the piston''s lol
No Buddy, I am a Qualified aircraft engine technician, it was only a joke.
These are gas turbine engine is there’s no pistons
@@twmax4137 Yes, I am also a jet aircraft technician, just a quick joke, looks like worn out piston engine lol
This baby runs on Marlboros and Newports
At the 1 minute mark - is it normal for the elevators to be shaking so much?
just buffeting from the engines. once it starts moving, the exhaust is more streamlined and regular airflow takes over.
Brian Cooney Also I think the heat haze exaggerates it a bit too.
So, airplanes can roll coal like trucks.
No gulfstreams?
Yech! Cough, cough, cough, achoo, achoo!
Flying ALCO!
I like smoky planes
Fabulous video.
Any laws being violated?
+Luís Miguel Marques An excellent question! I guess not - air samples would probably have to be taken to establish any illegality.
+flugsnug Only the life laws, no more....
Should have put the Mig 29 in the vid
did he fill up with the wrong fuel ? looks like he got stuff that should have gone into an old battleship !
Never knew planes roll coal
What about the f4 phantom...
Ah yes, rolling coal.
Smoke em if ya got em!
I don’t think it’s normal to make Turbofan smoke like turbojet does. Boeing 707 used turbojet not turbofan.
Prius Killa
I think it's the use of illegal fuel(fuel mixed with kerosene)
Oh my, the environmentalists will get strokes seeing this.. :D

They look amazing, but of course, there's a $ub$tantial fine!!!
Camouflage
Is this not dangerous? Also, there appears to be some audio distortion at 3:22.
So if there's a bit of distortion you hear the grunt of the engine more
+aismartie14 It's normal; these are very old engine designs. Without the super precise tolerances of modern engines, more fuel is left un-ignited.
+Palmput Ah. Thanks for the explanation.
Откуда в европе Ту-154 и Ан-12? Вроде им запретили летать там.
+Ринат Халиков Иногда они туда ещё летают
🚬I thought you were not allowed to smoke 🚭 during a flight. Someone lit up a fatty. I guess they never got the memo. 🚬
2:19 thats not real, it looks like fsx
Talk about polution, the tree huggers must be going koo koo for coco puffs seeing that.
So VW is making aircraft engines now
This is because of the low grade fuel they use . Mazut
How dare you?

No smoking please.
Kids are around and we dont want cancer
I didnt know they put diesel engines on planes LMAOOOOO
Must be Volkswagen.
