If anyone suffered from tragic irony, it was Oedipus. He tried to escape a prophecy and ended up fulfilling it.
Call that a backfire?🤣
His parents tried to escape fate
@@ecurewitzhis father tried to escape punishment for raping chrysipus son of pelops
Anakin Skywalker tried the same and, ironically, thing ended even worse.
Man, that's really sad. Oedipus didn't even know what he was doing was wrong and thought he completely avoided his curse.
The kicker is that he got scared and thought the curse was about his *adoptive* parents. He had no idea who the old man he killed really was. He also didn’t know who his wife really was until the truth was revealed years after the fact.
The moral of the story is don’t talk to oracles or fortune tellers. This whole situation could’ve been avoided if Laius and Jocasta hadn’t spoken to the Oracle. Better to just deal with what life throws at you as it comes.
and if Oedipus himself had listened to his adoptive father and accepted that the oracle didn't want to tell him his future...
Fate is harsh and unescapable, but that's Ancient Greek version of it for you.
Oedipus really didn’t do anything wrong. Yeah killed his dad snd married his mom but he didn’t know who they were. Usually in Greek tragedy it caused by the heroes mistakes or pride but again this is hardly the guy’s fault
Maybe he shouldn't have been killing random people on the streets.
@@truthspreader1996and he shouldn't have to marry half age women.
That is the point of the story it is not the tragedy of person’s mistakes. It is the tragedy of someone who is bonded by fate and that nothing he could do would change it no matter how hard he tried. That is what makes oedipus a interesting and sad story. Not because of the actions he did but the actions he was destined to do no matter how hard he tried to stop them from happening.
@@zekeyeager3964despite all the stuff I heard about destiny I saw people than have decided their own faith. Destiny doesn't exists, there is only our choices
@@danielelunardi9812TRUE, BUT THE GREEK MYTH UNIVERSE SHOWS THAT , NO MATTER WHAT ITS DENIZENS DO, THEY CANNOT ESCAPE FATE(S), EVEN THE GODS THEMSELVES CANT GO AGAINST IT/THEM, I THINK HERA HERSELF MOCKED ZEUS FOR UNABLE TO GO AGAINST FATE AND DEATH...WELL, IN THEIR UNIVERSE
Jocasta did not age in greek mythology due the fact she hold the necklace of Harmonia .
Which was also a cursed object that would bring misfortune.
Tragedy taken to the extreme becomes a comedy. There is a sick humor to the Oedipus story, attempting to avoid one's fate only reinforces what is inevitable.
One thing I like about these videos is that they relay their information in a brief manner. This story felt unnecessarily prolonged.
Perhaps, but it’s probably one of the most important myths in our modern times (because of Freud, The Oedipus Complex)
Please do a story of his daughter Antigone!
Wow truly good I enjoyed every minute of this story board
When will we see Beowulf?
Poor Oedipus. Why do Greeks have to suffer such tragedies?
Because for most, life is a tragedy. If not sooner, then later.
It's better to look at ones founding myths and be thankful, than envious.
I love this such a great story but more to come
0:00 Hey they grow old age and had four children after defeating the terrible Sphinx.
0:43 They want to take about it.

11:50 His daughter Antigone reach his father's arm.
Wow. Now this is terrible story of The Tragedy of Fate Part 2 Oedipus the King in Greek Mythology. They need to reminder what King Oedipus had done and terrible tragedy deeds. And there are still hope for next generation in humanity's history cycle between life and death and rebirth into the far future awaits your destiny in the Afterlife.
Thanks for the video
Fun fact: he pierced his own ryes because he couldn't stand looking at his children
I wanna see the story of Thor vs Hrungnir
well told
The original Sweet Home Alabama but it really bloody and tragic story.
Giocasta understand all before Oedipus. Why she tried to convince him to not discover the true when it was too late?
His own mother?
😲
YES
Yes and they had kids😮
Yep, and that’s where the Oedipus complex originates.
@@ladynikkie holy frick!🤢
He was oblivious to the fact.
Tom Lehr Oedipus Rex
From the Bible to the popular song
There's one theme that we find right along
Of all ideals they hail as good
The most sublime is motherhood
There was a man though, who it seems
Once carried this ideal to extremes
He loved his mother and she loved him
And yet his story is rather grim
There once lived a man named Oedipus Rex
You may have heard about his odd complex
His name appears in Freud's index
Cause he loved his mother
His rivals used to say quite a bit
That as a monarch he was most unfit
But still in all they had to admit
That he loved his mother
What's the name of the music playing at the start?
❤🤍💙 all your videos mate👍
😢
Oedipus was a victim of circumstances.
I don't have an oedipal complex. I have a counterfeit gameshow complex. Amongst other tangible problems. Like a blown head gasket. In my car.
Next is the seven againts thebes?
Here's a funny video idea how about you make mythology what if basically the stores in mythology if but what if they took a different turn
Like for example the story of Hephaestus trying to sleep with Athena but in that what if he would have gotten her pregnant
what a classic misunderstanding........ poor oedipus
I liked the other illustration better the voices are the same clearly y’all need some new shi we need some goddess power stories
I want you to dub the video in hindi. Please reply copyright!
Fate is fate. There's no way he can escape from.

Did he married his own daughter as well?
No.
I did a play of this.
;)
how did Jocasta not realize that Oedipus had his feet pierced? Wasn't she married to him lol
Wounds heal
And the moral of the story is, if you find out you're doing it with your mom, stay committed
How tf did he get told he would marry his mother, then proceed to bag an older woman? 🤣
Man Oedipus did nothing wrong. He just murdered a random stranger in cold blood. Also he married his mom who had no say in the matter...Poor Oedipus... 😂😂😂
