Tip for players: Don't forget you can toggle dual wielding in equipment menu so your character doesn't automatically attack with second weapon on main hand attack. That way if your main hand attack doesn't apply chilled you can try again without wasting your bonus action flail attack.
Tip two, constantly check that it is toggled off as they game likes to reset it at any time it decides, just as it constantly changes the skill wheels I have set.
I'm currently running my main as a frost sorceror so having Karlach as a frost barbarian sounds like it will synergize quite well with that. I didn't know the trident made targets wet so that's good to know.
Thanks Spud! Another great find. I've never used Wave Trident as i'm usually set up already before I get it, but this is a super interesting build. To favorites you go again, for a future playthru! All the best!
A correction, you don’t have to do damage to an enemy to maintain rage, you just need to make an attempt to attack. You can miss and still maintain rage.
@@nateo3040 Per the BG3 Wiki: Rage ends early if you don't attack an enemy or take damage each turn. Per the base 5e rules: Your rage lasts for 1 minute. It ends early if you are knocked unconscious or if your turn ends and you haven't attacked a hostile creature since your last turn or taken damage since then. You can also end your rage on your turn as a bonus action. So you perhaps have had a DM in the past simply tell you that rules wrong, or some other such issue. Regardless, you don’t have to deal damage, just make an attack, so the attack can miss and you’re still fine.
Also after a recent play through. I was bummed using frost doesn’t freeze enemies in place, now I learned it is possible! Had no idea very cool idea and I like how it came together.
May I recommend you try your hand at a reverberation build? It has a good control effect, making enemies prone with enough stacks, and potentially dazing them if they attack you. Adding some lighting charge elements can also make for some powerful AoE I’ve heard.
The Boooal buff you can get by stealing the sickle and getting blessed would be great with this build. With a lucky Tiger Cleave you'd have advantage, then you wouldn't have to have Reckless Attack on as much putting you at less risk.
Something that tickles my brain in these videos is that you're using whatever to have unlimited actions/bonus actions. It would be nice to see what it can do with the normal flow of the game
Character build wise, this is my throwing build. Except I do Rog at level 1 so I have more skills and expertise in whatever I want even say Athletics. I get my Med armor prof after my 5 levels of Barb, by taking 3 levels in fighter eldritch knight to throw whatever I want and it comes back. So Rog 3(4), Barb 5, fighter 3(4) chose which you want 4 in just for your second feat or if you don't want a second feat 6 Barb
End Act 1 at Level 4? End Act 2 at level 8? - Dude, how much are you missing? I was Level 7 before hitting Act 2, and hit Level 10 upon entering Act 3.
Enable Reckless Attack, uncheck "ask". You know you are going to say YES every single time. Even if it's a bad decision. You will say YES because you are a raging berserker. If you are doing cold damage all game, Act 1 Mourning Frost staff. Act 2 Coldburst ring, Icebite robe, Coldbrim hat (you can cast cold spells with robe and staff). Act 3 Cold Snap dagger (offhand). I don't know how much is optimal, but does it need to be? Just go nuts. I always go 16 Dex, 17 Con +1 Tavern brawler and drink potions. I mean, why not? I know this gear makes the character look like a Wizard, but to be honest, this is the perfect Gale build anyway.
Just equip bhaalist armor to double the piercing damage from the trident and you're done. OP build unlocked: you have double damage on both piercing and bludgeoning (from frozen stat).
@@lorenzop8022 well, to get the trident that inflicts wet you need to go to the bank vault, so late act 3. Almost any build needs act 3 gear to get OP 🤷♂️
Can you try my build? 5 levels of Warlock (themone that works on crits and pact of te blade) 6 of figther 1 Sorcerer (draconid bloodline, shield and magic misils) 20 dex, 20 cha, no Armour dark magic tank (With half orc and crits ítems you break the game)
I think going barbarian with this build is sub-par damage wise. You might get more out of it with paladin. Pairing this build up with a tempest cleric sounds devastating btw
the damage tooltips are a little misleading, two handaxes deal only marginally more damage than the greataxe and then only if both attacks hit it's 2d6+strength (you don't apply strength on off-hand attacks unless you have the two-weapon fighting style), which is an average hit of 7+strength the greataxe has an average of 6.5+strength BUT if you miss with the second handaxe, the average hit is 3.5+strength or worse, if you miss with the first handaxe attack but hit with the second, it's 3.5 average damage (again, no modifier) max hit isn't reliable to calculate damage, since your change to hit max damage isn't guaranteed (thus, we use average damage per hit, which for a d6 is 3.5)
I tried this build, but this doesn't work as well as I expected. The first hit from the flail barely gave out the chill effect. Out of 10 attacks I made, only 1 actually activate the chill. Idk if I missed something here, or I'm just terribly unlucky.
Couldn't you also put the flail of ages buff on the trident? You would lose some ice damage but also gain the ability to use great weapon master and still apply frozen.
Sadly, but no. Style gives proficiency bonus to offhand, so you hit nore often and with more DMG . While feat unlocks ability to weild non-light weapons in offhand like mace/trident and gives +1 AC
Could you kindly slow down a bit when you show the level screen up so people can actually see what you are doing. You talk too fast and your accent makes it hard to always know what you have said. No offence as I am sure you would have the same problem with my accent .
Most importantly make sure to free Volo.

Thats from changing weapons, skills, etc.@@christinehede7578
Just a quick note: give the enchanting glaive to your sorc, he can use twin spell with it and enchant both your weapons.
nice one, but I never get tired from slahing and smashing barb

Dude you do the most fun builds on TH-cam, i swear, know i wanna do ice and fire bros run, with fire karlach and ice half orc tav
Nice one 😀 and could be challenging too, hard to focus one target when you counter each others conditions;)

Oh, i thought you need to actually hit. Rage ended few times when i missed, but probably im missed something else xD 😕 thx! ☺️
I'm like 99% sure you need to deal or take damage to maintain rage, you can miss as long as something hurts you before your next turn

This build has those good ol Divinity:OS2 vibes.
Awesome I’ve been thinking about this build ever since you did that Poll!

A Tiger/Wolverine Barb will maim prone enemies, which skips their turn since they don't have enough movement to get up.

Very op armor but that's very late game. Even if you go through orins quest line super early that's probably the last 1/3 of the game at best.

so... like you can use that trident and the thunder trident and make a thrower build?
