Great Job Trevor! I have a Harmon/Kardon from late 80's early 90's it's doing the same thing just not as frequently, thank's to you I know how to fix it.
Great video but did not work for me I have a Denon CD Burner the Left CD tray was the one opening and closing I took it apart I was working on getting the left CD drawer out removing the first two screws was no problem but what is still holding it down and where is the other two screws ? I realized the other drawer was doing the same thing I gave up and will send it back to Denon.
Smashing repair and you prevented other problems. I have seen players get part way though a c.d then spit the disk out. Almost like the player didn't like the music lol. Dodgy deck switches.
I have had (and still have) one Teac CD player from '84, the only problem it ever had was that switch. Repaired it 20 years ago, and now it slowly starts doing the same again.
Awesome video, thx! Question my DCD-695 skips (jumps) during playback but only at the very beginning of a CD. What would you do there, what is the reason for it?
I have that same CD player and it is not working. I am after some advice! 1.It has power as the tray has been closing as soon as it ejects so I cleaned the tray switch - fixed now. 2.Ordered a new belt as when the cd is in it does not register on the display, this hasn't worked. 3.Order a new laser, not fitted it yet - could it be this or could it be a motor or else? Thanks in advance
i have a dcd 825, the 825 has burr brown dacs also and a generic kss240a laser, it has elna cerafine caps in the audio section as standard, i have replaced the caps in that section that trevor has pointed out a couple of years ago before the originals went bad, dont know about this model but the 825 has a rather annoying quirk, its analogue outputs are variable only and only operated via remote control, so if anybody gets one and its quiet then a sutible remote of some sort is required, otherwise overall a good sounding well made cd player, and this one dosent look a lot different.
Acquired Sony XB790QS SACD player a couple of months ago - one can never have too many players, in good condition apart from one annoying quirk. It would play CDs and SACDs in 2ch and 5.1ch mode as expected, but once you've turned it off and on again with the hybrid disc inserted, it would insist the disc was a standard CD only and refuse to switch to DSD playback. Pressing open/close would re-load the TOC and it was back to normal. Anyways, I've decided to try and find out what it was all about at a later stage, once I have replaced all of the smt caps in the RF and servo section with low impedance, fresh ones. These are generally miniaturized with the detriment to quality and longevity. Funnily enough, that solved the "memory loss" issue as well ! And John, unless someone ramps up current on these lasers, they will continue to run long after you and I are gone !
great videos, I watch with my very young son. Thanks
Thanks for a great little clinic, looks like a solid CD player. That little transformer must generate a great deal of heat.
REPORTED FOR A TOO SHORT OF A VIDEO.

Great work. My Denon DCM-460 stopped audio in the middle of a CD playing. Can you help?
