Bungie made a mistake in killing her off. No disrespect to Lasky, and nothing against him, but Miranda would have been awesome as first officer and then captain of the Infinity. At the very least she could have been at the helm of a new Autumn-class heavy cruiser.

It's consistent with Miranda's character as well to go boots on the ground as well, just like Jacob with the Weapons Cache. Regardless, this is playing Devil's Advocate; her entire plan went to crap as soon as that quarantine shield came down, and UNSC Forces were gonna be in hot water as soon as Chief and Cortana were taken off the field
As reckless of a move it was for Miranda to crash her pelican into the citadel's main room, i have actually started to like that scene a lot more. She actually does ask Master Chief "how close are you" before making her move, and when Sierra 117, the Spartan II and legend himself, replies with a grim "not close enough", Miranda was already committed to a one-way ticket. Perhaps it bought the Chief and Arbiter just the little extra time they needed; hell, even the flood were getting desperate at that point.
Honestly, a bit odd she didn't come with marines support, as she couldve chilled out the window and have a gunner co pilot shoot, but assuming she was just flying a pelican on her own and the surviving marines were mopping up the covenant remnants outside the structure and began evacuating the ark, then it makes more sense for her to be solo, as she may have been waiting to pick up chief and carrier like she does at the end of the level, the ark.
@@halinaqi2194 I'm assuming the majority of marines and forces were even further away or simply kia, especially since we never see a marine again for the rest of the game

That or they basically waited outside to held off anything else on a whim that Chief and Arby succeeded.
@Gotnothingatall would that mean Miranda was part of making the Cole Protocol methodology for the UNSC, and if so maybe THAT could be the core of a storyline centered on her.
Honestly I thought this would be about Chips Dubbo for whatever reason but this was great surprise, I think Miranda needs more coverage she's a great character that in my opinion should've never been killed. She really does deserve more development.
The funniest part is that Miranda also gets forgotten in the Johnny Rings TV show. She was charactised decently (for the show) in season 1 and then she's basically absent for 80% of season 2 and is relegated to a single room lmao.
Miranda is a pretty underrated character, she indeed needs some more lore added to her as we know so little, perhaps if the halo show gets rebooted and just actually goes on the story of the halo games we can have some more awesome stories with her! Instead of the boring kwan stuff
its strange to see how halsey handles being a mother. she obviously has feelings about miranda, but her analytical mind, and personality often clash with her maternal instincts. she knows, she knows that she knows, but she doesnt want to admit it, she also knows that its her own fault that her daughter resented and possibly hated her until her dying breath. i wonder how much that affected halsey. im sure she will hide it well though.
She was a badass in Halo 2. A competent and fearless Shipmaster. It's actually quite tragic the story of the Keyes/Halsey family. Even though her research and project saved huemanity, Dr Halsey was Such a bih that she destroyed any hopes of connecting with her family. Still breaks my heart thinking of Cpt Keyes assimilated into a Proto-Gravemind.
not even remotely the same. chief destroyed a WMD with an effective range of 25,000 light years which was a religious icon for their enemies causing massive demoralisation, half a covenant fleet, and an existential threat to the galaxy, for the price of a unrepairable ship and a fragment of her crew. Miranda destroyed a ship and her crew in exchange for the enemy ship and their crew.
The thing I want to know the most about Miranda is what she was thinking during the operation to secure Installation 05's Index. At the time, there was probably no human alive better informed about the capabilities and nature of the Flood, with both Cortana and Johnson as advisors. However, In Amber Clad's forces were deployed as if they had no idea what they were facing. Her marine units were scattered across the quarantine zone and devoured in detail. The frigate itself was parked perilously close to the Library, and she left the ship to personally lead a ground operation into the heart of the infestation after taking catastrophic losses to the Flood. Without Tartarus arriving to capture her and Johnson, it's hard to see how Miranda wouldn't have shared her father's fate.
The flood could drive vehicles in halo 2 so rip for the marines, but I dont think if she knew, she would've done what she did. She was forced to deploy marines to lover the walls shield and look for the key, no one knew the flood was being contained there, but the fact the ground marines didn't know what the flood was leads me to believe that johnson and cortana just didn't tell her what they are or they did, but they kept the information to themselves, but even then, why didn't they tell the sergeants about it? We can hear Sargeant banks and stacker in comms confused as to what they're fighting. In amber clad didn't even have that big of a contingent of marines either.
Halsey is often thought of as heartless. But knowing she cries about Jacob and Miranda really humanizes her. It actually makes me sad knowing that she was pained from their loss. And now I feel like she sees the Spartan IIs as her children too. She clearly thinks of John as a son of sorts.
It’s interesting to hear how people assumed Miranda’s success was due to her father, given The Fall of Reach cites Commander Keyes as someone most of the fleet hated and wanted stuck in the classroom, and he was only promoted to Captain during the battle of Sigma Octanus IV, months before Halo 1.
I actually like Miranda, and she was a character I mourned, even if Johnson hit FAR more. I do know John is a couple years older than her, simply because Halsey became pregnant around the time she was looking for Spartans.
To the people pointing out her (ahem) *questionable* choice to park the In Amber Clad above the Library and go in herself, i think thats a good bit of characterisation in of itself that would be nice to see fleshed out.. See, Captain Keyes personally leads the mission to the weapons cache (Flood containment facility) too - yes he didnt really have a ship at that point in Halo CE - but it speaks to a bull-headedness that she may have learnt from her old man, ie, if you want the job done right, do it yourself. Thats a mentality that she may have inherited, or maybe one she discovered the hard way during a failed mission. As stated she voluntered for active duty immediately following graduation, she rammed a Destroyer with an unarmed surveillance ship getting all but one other crewman killed in the process, she blindly chased the Solemn Penance solo in a light frigate, she personally led the mission to retrieve the Index, she left the Dawn while a battle raged and crashed a Pelican right through the window of the Citadel, even the "To war" line kinda shows shes the first to put herself, and others, in harms way. I psychologist might tell you she actually wants to die. And therein i think lies a really neat character that would be easy to make a story in Halo with. One where her heroic deeds are actually veiled attempts to self delete. Possibly to quell rumors of nepotism, possibly because she feels she has to live up to the Keyes name, possibly because of her belief that Halsey abandoned her to create the Spartans which are bred to do the impossible or very likely die trying - so she on some level feels she needs to do the same.
Dude just like chips, exists on earth and delta halo at the same time. He is one of the odsts in the delta halo mission and he speaks over intercoms during the sacred icon mission, while he's working his second day job as police Sargeant in New Mombasa at the ONI building, working to blow it up lmaoo
If Miranda was trained or involved with Porter Cole, was she involved in making the Cole Protocol Methodology for the UNSC, if so THAT would be a worthy storyline that could be centered on Miranda havingnto make somethingto clean up her Mom's mess. Considering her Mother's involvement in making shipboard A.I.s, Miranda going that next step and establishing the way to Control her Mom's inventions seems like something she would want to do, a sort of middle finger to her Mom saying "Look at the mess you made, Mom, now your Kid has to clean up after you yet again".
Definitely would need more Chief/cortana-Miranda interaction reminiscing about Keyes. Also, Keyes knew about the Spartan program... not the whole thing but he knew about Chief being the kid he went to see with Halsey on that random colony (Beginning of the fall of reach book). Would be interesting that Miranda finds that out and has to reconcile that with the image she has of her father.
Such an iconic character that Cortana knew about him and he was one of the only survivors of Installation 04. So sad we never heard of him again afterwards, so underrated.
Video idea: What if Captain Keyes survived the first Halo ring and escaped with Chief, Johnson, and the others? How would his presence have affected the following events of the series?
Bungie (specifically Marty) did her dirty at the end of Halo 3. Dumb and avoidable death that Marty thought would be impactful, so he convinced the writers to kill her off. At least make it more badass than just standing there surrounded by enemies and getting shot in the back (not to mention going in alone to save Johnson for some reason??)
Miranda's genuinely good nature just doesn't jive with the whole "shades of gray" mentality the Halo expanded universe materials are obsessed with. It's easy to make Halsey and everyone else in the UNSC look like pure distilled evil, but Miranda, that's a stretch.
@@OniLink147 Probably another reason I prefer the games. Nuance is one thing but the books really hammer home the point that the Halo universe is a crapsack world no matter who's side you're on and it's just annoying when you're left not knowing who to root for.
I mean for Captain Keys if you were in a random part of the galaxy, trying to figure out where you are and there is a giant alien hula hoop, you probably would not be thinking about your daughter and also I’m pretty sure captain Keys also said, like barely even like five lines to Cortana and also if your father was eaten by a parasite from the inside, you probably wouldn’t mention it because you know sad 16:25
In Halo:CE... when Cortana was calculating the PoA's kills vs the Covenant force... it would have been a nice little inclusion for Kay's to say "hmm, not quite as resourceful as my daughter, but it will have to do"
In a way, it's a good thing that her father didn't survive to learn about Miranda's death (Though I wonder what changes a surviving Jacob Keyes would have brought to the Halo story). The man would have been devastated.
She got a shoutout in CEA's terminals, Halsey thought about her several times in the books, she was in the (awful) TV show and got a cameo in Legends... I'm not sure what more we can really expect from a character whose story is complete
Probably more appearances during the war:. She was a commander and on active duty for several years. Johnson has made a few appearance across books himself, same for Jacob Keyes. And their stories are pretty much complete too, but still show up. They could show some missions/battles she participated in.
Glad they didn't go further with that awful Miranda betrayal storyline. Its probably (hopefully) just a placeholder story before they finished writing because that truly sounds like script writing 101 babysteps
Marine: "Ma'am squad leaders are requesting a rally point... Where should they go?" Miranda "....To war." In a video game trilogy where 90% of one liners/dialogue are amazing, that...was definitely not one of those lines.
Marine: "....Ma'am the entire planet is getting invaded, that doesn't make it any easier...*turns around* SGT Johnson where should they go?" The best part for me is when the gameplay starts, she walks back down the stairs, making the scene even weirder imo.
The funnier part is after the cutscene she actually does start giving proper orders, so you just know some people at bungie thought that line was gonna land XD
Miranda definitely deserves more attention and lore, but was unfortunately killed off for (admittedly dumb) plot reasons. Anyways 5 bucks says gamers nowadays would hate Miranda if she was in any post Bungie Halo game lmao
@greatkhan7278 No I mean if she was the exact same now as she was then, but in a 343 game. Gamers would lose their shit like they lost their shit over characters like Palmer and like how they lose their minds over women characters in every game nowadays. I'm pointing out how dumb culture war bs has brainwashed far too many gamers.
This is a bad take but i recently played halo 3 for the first time and man did her death feel completely out of the blue. Halo 2 will always be the best halo to me, i loved miranda and her dying like that just felt wrong. Especially with her lineage
HOLD THE HELL UP! Miranda Keys is the daughter to Kathrin Halsey!?!? Captain Keys i knew of course but where in the hell is it stated that Halsey is her mother?! i have been playing halo since i was 5 years old (which ironically is when halo came out) and i never heard or knew about this information. someone, anyone, please explain.
It was a throwaway line a book that came out right before Reach released. I was on the forums back then and even though it was a longstanding theory we were all surprised they made it canon.
Ngl, i never got why Miranda hated her mother so much. Let's be clear, Her mother's biggest crime was not being there for her, due to her work. As much as i can relate to that, given the situation that was going on in the galaxy l, you'd think at least as an adult she would understand her mothers situation and try to make amens or interact with her mother more. Idk its like if a kid during ww2 hated their parants for fighting in the war and not being there for them. I mean....i get it but....come on. 😅
It’s crazy how we’ve never seen how Halsey reacted to Jacob or Miranda’s deaths. I genuinely never even realised she was her mother until the nonexistent tv show
There is virtually no reason Cpt. Keyes would have mentioned Miranda in CE. When would he have had the time? “That’s where you come in, Chief. Get Cortana off this ship. She looks a lot like my daughter.” “I heard the elites saying that whoever controls Halo controls the galaxy. The galaxy filled with stars. Just like the Silver Star Miranda received.” “Here are your orders. Find the control room by whatever means necessary. And remember Miranda.” “Real pretty. Friend of yours? Maybe he’s a friend of Miranda’s.” “Get back here, marine! Let me tell you about my daughter!” Now, granted, there maybe non-combat centric cutscenes in the remake. Maybe they’ll add levels like they did in Halo 5 where you just talk to characters. Everyone loved that, right? But as it is currently setup, just shoving dialogue in there for no reason but fan service doesn’t make sense. Maybe they’ll add more terminals or data pads to flesh it out.
A "Halo: Keyes" game would be wortin sick... Just think, a Halo 2 style game but showing Captain Keyes amazing war stories, to Miranda narrating those stories, and her explaining and telling her way up to her dads legacy! Like it switched from Captain Keyes, to Miranda every other mission.
i always remember her anytime i think of the games she needs to be in something new like a new evolutions story or something or have a wartime game where she makes an appearance or a book about her military career and her awkward family drama
Jacobs' internal monologue in The Cole Protocol mentions Miranda almost every chapter. Thinking about her future is a constant theme, and then they meet up at the end to bond where we find her already studying the Navy completely of her own accord. This relationship is well established in a way that makes sense because in a book we know Jacob's thoughts without him having to force awkward dialogue about an otherwise irrelevant character who is literally only important to him. Can you imagine if after saying "I don't keep it loaded, son," he randomly launched into a lore dump about his daughter for no reason? I feel like you wanted this to be a biography, but for length and clickability you had to also tack on an opinion piece, which is where your research faltered the most and your suggestions became increasingly destructive. It would probably have been better to just wrap up around the 11 minute mark than try to come up with something unesseccary to add
Just the other day, I was thinking about that one cutscene where Miranda climbs down into the Library to grab the index on Delta Halo. I always thought that was such a cool moment. She was great in Halo 2. I wish they did more with her character after that. Her death was more anticlimactic than it should have been, I think.
The idea I’d have to expand miranda is having her be resentful of chief during halo 2, as well as her working with section 3 of ONI during halo 2. This would be because they are using Miranda’s suspicions of chief as a way to see if the master chief is mentally stable enough to continue on, and to get closer to Cortana to help them with their search for Halsey (who’s a war criminal at this point) The Section 3 personnel would be allies to fight alongside you, but are cold and precise in comparison to your quipping Marines, having little to no humor in the dialogue spoke by them. Throughout the campaign, they could put Chief into trouble and explain that “that’s a job for a Spartan, not us”. They could also be in SPI and could be fun enemies to fight as the arbiter when heading into the library. And in high charity, they’re ordered to get Cortana no matter what, leading them to become enemies during the chief missions in high charity. And with all that in the context of Miranda, she could be a big fan of using section 3, but see how much they’re trying to get chief killed and she becomes skeptical of their true goals. It then gets confirmed in high charity when she then sees that they’re attacking Chief, and orders her marines (with the few that remain) to treat section 3 as hostiles. You can then add a section of Miranda and Chief fighting side by side, with Miranda at the end saying she needs to get captured so she can stop the firing of the rings, leading her to then get captured and it goes back to the normal time line from there. I feel like this expands her character a significant amount more than it did before, and adds some more depth to her crew also all dying like her father’s crew all died on alpha halo. She then also makes the choice that she doesn’t need to preserve herself to get the job done, and chooses to sacrifice herself to tartarus as a prisoner so she can start a plan to stop the rings while Chief chases the Prophet down. Felt like this idea was alright for a remake or something, even if it does wacky stuff with the lore, but I thought it also fit better within the timeline to expand Miranda out more
There was recently a post on Halo Waypoint about an upcoming book (I think) and the section they choose to read off as a teaser they wanted to give but what struck me as odd...was the fact that at the end of the written portion of the post is...to say the least, incredibly disturbing. The teaser is about a Promethean Knight (TDS-009) and it essentially explains how this knight slowly grows emotion and eventually remembers who it was. At the very end of the post is a bunch of places and memories and finally their name... Doctor Sandra Tillson. The Scientist from Ivanoff Station that we see get vaporized while freaking out about the composer being stolen. So...yeah. There was also a photo of the Knight commander trapped in the monitor's enclosure from Halo 5, so maybe that Knight that is trapped in there was Doctor Sandra Tilson from Halo 4? I don't know but I think it's worth looking into and maybe making a video some time about it?
Always love to see you post Xperia. I love your vids, and I know how sometimes it can be hard to look at the same lore over and over again. But just know your branch off vids were amazing. one of the things that can make halo great again is bringing back a lot of the original characters, whether they're dead or not as long as they are done right
13:54 yeah, people like to forget that Reach isnt the only populated planet in the eridani system. Circumstance and Tribute were also major human colonies.
I would love to see a short story about her like the ones they've been doing recently on Halo Waypoint for every new operation that comes out in Infinite. Either fleshing out the events of the Hilbert or her rise from Lt. Commander to Commander between 2550 and 2552.
Think of it, Halsey has watched almost all her Spartans die, the man she had a daughter with died to the Flood, her daughter was killed by the Prophet of Truth, she never got over what she did to create the Spartans, future Spartans were created without her involvement and they were thrown into the meat grinder as disposable super soldiers, the ship and the entire crew her daughter commanded was completely taken over by the Flood, and it goes on and on. Halsey flat out has lost everyone, she’s not even near her Spartans anymore.
My favorite part was when you mentioned the flood PCs. I can't seem to get the flood color, unfortunately. I still need to figure it out. I did Halo for a while, modded the hell out of the Sims, Destiny can get over 120 FPS, but it's only consistent on medium-low quality settings. I'm still overall very happy with this new beauty.
I’ve just realised I’ve never personally consumed any halo content other then the games so for all i know you could of made everything up for the last 6 years since I’ve been watching you
Funny that you can consider either Cortana or Chief as Miranda's siblings. Halsey sees Chief as a son and treated him as such, while Cortana is literally a clone of her turned into a AI. On a genetical sense, Cortana (and Now The Weapon) is even blood related to Miranda.
This makes me really wish she survived Halo 3. She deserved it. And especially with the focus on Halsey being a character in Halo 4 (kinda) and Halo 5, I can only imagine how that version of Halo could have panned out. Plus it would have been nice to see a familiar face in Halo 4. I saw a comment saying that she could've been the Captain of the UNSC Infinity and that would def be cool! Sucks for Lasky tho :p But since we cannot rewrite the past and 343i shouldn't even think about rebooting Halo, we should 110% get a Miranda novel.
16:34 I don't think so. He almost definitely thought about Miranda, but there's no reason for him to mention her to anyone in CE. She's simply not directly relevant in that situation, just like the Halsey.
would be cool to have a game following Miranda's POV during the war, we help captain her ships she is assigned to through out the game and each mission.
I actually want to say that I grew up playing Halo, and one of the things that would make Halo 2 feel empty would be the absence of David Cross's voice. I never noticed it was him until way later on in life, after getting acquainted with his work. But now that Ive grown, I can't imagine Halo without him. I know Chips is a bigger draw for most fans but David has a iconic voice that almost sounds funny on its own, without him even saying anything funny
The idea of a Halo space combat game occasionally comes up. I feel like there's potential in having it be based on Miranda. Tell that story of the between times that we never got.
Space combat games need to come back period. Freespace 1 and 2, Wing Commander, Homeworld 1 and 2, Nexus: The Jupiter Incident, those were some badass games. Homeworld 3 got turned woke which is a real tragedy.
I was thinking you were gonna say SGT Stacker. I hope he comes back if he isn't dead in the expanded lore to the main games as a replacement for SGM Johnson.
It never occurred to me that Cortana is both technically Miranda's sister since Halsey created her, but I guess you could also say that she's her mother since its a flash scan of Halsey's brain.
I've been playing Halo since 2001 and I'm still convinced Miranda and Johnson had a romance arc that was hinted yet never explored since the events of Delta Halo.
Realistically speaking, if nothing happened in those 2 years she could of got a huge promotion out of nowhere due to her skill, but also due to the fact humanity was getting they ass kicked and tons of ships and high ranking officers were dying left and right. Same type thing that happened in Star Wars.
I've never felt like Shes been forgotten, she has a whole storyline, and she's been in a major role in two Halo games. The one who I feel is forgotten is the elite shipmaster Rtas 'Vadum.
And think, Miranda had multiple interactions with Cortana. And Ai designed to look and sound like HER MOTHER. Would have been interesting to see her attitude towards Cortana shift negatively at the meet sight of her
Funny thing is that while Keyes and Miranda are both touted as amazing tacticians that only seems to apply to ship to ship combat because their tactical input on the ground in all 3 halo games is dumb as hell and lead to both of their captures by the covenant and later their avoidable deaths. First you have Jacob Keyes on alpha halo who had tons of odst squads at his disposal yet he (the commander) went to the creepy swamp HIMSELF with a couple squads of basic marines. Then Miranda does the same thing except worse because she knew what the flood was.
I personally believe all of Halo as a franchise has a major issue with a lot of its major side characters getting axed too soon. The only two i sort of agree with is Johnson and Jacob, as Johnson was a casuality at the end of a 3 game campaign. Id love him back and i think he could have had a better exit, but i can understand that we needed a gut punch. Jacob was tied importantly to the story and his death elevated his character. But so many others are ignored or dead and could have been great. -Noble 6 could have escaped Reach -Rookie should *never* have been done dirty in a book -Kurt was a fantastic potential character to play as -Miranda should have been given the chance to surpass her father -Forge could arguably have become the next Johnson with some work on his personality Like, every time Bungie and 343 had a great character, their first thought was "wheres the human garbage bin, we need sadness"
They tried to destroy Caboose’s presence in Halo Reach but I clearly saw him in all the cutscenes, he was the real hero there.

Arbiter * not carrier
@@halinaqi2194 I'm assuming the majority of marines and forces were even further away or simply kia, especially since we never see a marine again for the rest of the game
@@halinaqi2194Humans and elites were probably starting to fucking try to run when the Prophet started activating the Rings.
everyone upon hearing whatever countdown, seeing the Flood/Gravemind cursing and shaking his fist at the sky, and with Master Chief and Arbiter literally RUNNING, was probably trying to get out of dodge, however that’s possible.
That or they basically waited outside to held off anything else on a whim that Chief and Arby succeeded.
Slight fact check. Miranda was 27 as of Halo 2
Also, weird fact, Lord Hood was born to British nobility and served under Captain Cutter from Halo Wars
and along they're been trained by Preston cole too.
And Sergeant Johnson was 16 years older than lord hood
@@LAV-III Johnson was 78 when he died
@@theoriginalcosmicwanderer unless thats simply his chronological age it just shows how far spartan augmentations can go.
@Gotnothingatall would that mean Miranda was part of making the Cole Protocol methodology for the UNSC, and if so maybe THAT could be the core of a storyline centered on her.
I find it ironic how Halsey took the SIIs away from their families and how, at the end of the war she lost her daughter and her "husband".
Her maternal instincts actually kick in more towards John and Kelly. It's kind of off-putting, but completely expected and I've met people like her.
If i remember right, when she was told, she broke down in tears
There was a part in some book where she had to take a moment to go in a room or something and started crying.
WHOSE THAT POKEMON
It's Pikachu!
5:20 Miranda really pulled a Chief... 2 years before he did it.
not even remotely the same. chief destroyed a WMD with an effective range of 25,000 light years which was a religious icon for their enemies causing massive demoralisation, half a covenant fleet, and an existential threat to the galaxy, for the price of a unrepairable ship and a fragment of her crew.
Halsey and the director of rvb are similar
@@The_Albino_Jackalthe freelancers are based off of Spartans so the director will be based off of the creator of the Spartans, makes sense
Miranda was definitely one of the first that came to mind
It’s interesting to hear how people assumed Miranda’s success was due to her father, given The Fall of Reach cites Commander Keyes as someone most of the fleet hated and wanted stuck in the classroom, and he was only promoted to Captain during the battle of Sigma Octanus IV, months before Halo 1.
I actually like Miranda, and she was a character I mourned, even if Johnson hit FAR more. I do know John is a couple years older than her, simply because Halsey became pregnant around the time she was looking for Spartans.
She struggled to be characterized in the games. She doesn't leave much of any impression, unfortunately.
Hey hey hey she at least went to the master chief school of one liners.
are you trying to say they she went to war?
>Sargent Stacker not even mentioned
Stacker bros, it’s over.
I think everyone forgot about Dustin Echoes he was my favorite character from CE 😏
“Not too fond of Women. I prefer Men, and just Men.”

Miranda's genuinely good nature just doesn't jive with the whole "shades of gray" mentality the Halo expanded universe materials are obsessed with. It's easy to make Halsey and everyone else in the UNSC look like pure distilled evil, but Miranda, that's a stretch.
That’s always been something Halo has struggled with. The UNSC is never depicted as particularly evil within the games.
@@OniLink147 Probably another reason I prefer the games. Nuance is one thing but the books really hammer home the point that the Halo universe is a crapsack world no matter who's side you're on and it's just annoying when you're left not knowing who to root for.
I just prefer to only look at the games, even during bungies time with the series. I like a good under dog story
@@VRHyoumaru I definitely enjoy the books, but they feel like a different setting than the games do tbh.
How did I never know Halsey was Miranda’s mom?!
And she's also Cortana's sister.
Man who would’ve thought the character with the best line ever, would end up like this
"Your father never asked me for help either!"
Sergeant Johnson says your father never asked for help either halo 2 ending cutscene of the library
11:05 Jesus that took a turn-
miranda deserves a novel
1:12 if anything, her role of being captain Kys’s successor, has been more replaced by Lasky.
Absolutely hilarious you showed a clip of capping Captain Keyes when saying his name
Glad they didn't go further with that awful Miranda betrayal storyline. Its probably (hopefully) just a placeholder story before they finished writing because that truly sounds like script writing 101 babysteps
Agreed. That sounds awful 😆
Take a shot for Everytime turok evolution finds it's way into a Halo video
Marine: "Ma'am squad leaders are requesting a rally point... Where should they go?"
Miranda "....To war."
In a video game trilogy where 90% of one liners/dialogue are amazing, that...was definitely not one of those lines.
Marine: "....Ma'am the entire planet is getting invaded, that doesn't make it any easier...*turns around* SGT Johnson where should they go?"
The best part for me is when the gameplay starts, she walks back down the stairs, making the scene even weirder imo.
The funnier part is after the cutscene she actually does start giving proper orders, so you just know some people at bungie thought that line was gonna land XD
Dude: Ma'am! Do we go left or right???
Miranda: Go cray cray
😮
Miranda definitely deserves more attention and lore, but was unfortunately killed off for (admittedly dumb) plot reasons.
Anyways 5 bucks says gamers nowadays would hate Miranda if she was in any post Bungie Halo game lmao
$10 says a developer would make her an insufferable melt and easy to hate
@greatkhan7278 No I mean if she was the exact same now as she was then, but in a 343 game. Gamers would lose their shit like they lost their shit over characters like Palmer and like how they lose their minds over women characters in every game nowadays. I'm pointing out how dumb culture war bs has brainwashed far too many gamers.
HE DID IT, HE MENTIONED THE THING 18:45
Chief would’ve had to give Miranda back her bomb if they went through with that storyline lol
I Actually Do think of her as One of the Main Characters, and I Especially Hate how she Died.
@mekboy7403 thank you my friend, I appreciate your wisdom in this matter.
And that makes her Cortana and The Weapon's older sister, since they're made from Halsey's clones.
We all knew they smashed when they came out the cryo tubes in the books 😏
She looks a lot like my daughter.”
“I heard the elites saying that whoever controls Halo controls the galaxy. The galaxy filled with stars. Just like the Silver Star Miranda received.”
“Here are your orders. Find the control room by whatever means necessary. And remember Miranda.”
“Real pretty. Friend of yours? Maybe he’s a friend of Miranda’s.”
“Get back here, marine! Let me tell you about my daughter!”
Now, granted, there maybe non-combat centric cutscenes in the remake.
I had no idea Halsey and Keys got it on. Omg
I love how when showing captain keyes it’s cheif shooting him in the first mission
I love that you post videos every day or two!!!
I know her from the H5 opening cutscene from the picture on Halsey's desk
Just the other day, I was thinking about that one cutscene where Miranda climbs down into the Library to grab the index on Delta Halo. I always thought that was such a cool moment.
She was great in Halo 2. I wish they did more with her character after that. Her death was more anticlimactic than it should have been, I think.
The idea I’d have to expand miranda is having her be resentful of chief during halo 2, as well as her working with section 3 of ONI during halo 2.
This would be because they are using Miranda’s suspicions of chief as a way to see if the master chief is mentally stable enough to continue on, and to get closer to Cortana to help them with their search for Halsey (who’s a war criminal at this point)
The Section 3 personnel would be allies to fight alongside you, but are cold and precise in comparison to your quipping Marines, having little to no humor in the dialogue spoke by them.
Your SCP and Zombies vidoes were special. Personally id love to see you cover warhammer or deadspace lore. I think it would fit the mood and tone of your channel so well. But! Its just a suggestion. Cant wait to see your next vid!
one of the things that can make halo great again is bringing back a lot of the original characters, whether they're dead or not as long as they are done right
13:54 yeah, people like to forget that Reach isnt the only populated planet in the eridani system.
Thom and Rosenda got a Waypoint Chronicle story before Miranda had an appearance at all outside of Halo 2 and Halo 3 lol
That's it! I figured it out! An RTS space battle game following Miranda Keys career in the UNSC navy!
Sucks for Lasky tho :p
But since we cannot rewrite the past and 343i shouldn't even think about rebooting Halo, we should 110% get a Miranda novel.
Tbh, for me, when I learned about her in Halo 2, it just reminded me of how much I missed Captain Keyes
16:34 I don't think so. He almost definitely thought about Miranda, but there's no reason for him to mention her to anyone in CE. She's simply not directly relevant in that situation, just like the Halsey.
its a good day when hiddenxperia uploads
would be cool to have a game following Miranda's POV during the war, we help captain her ships she is assigned to through out the game and each mission.
Hidden: "C'mon 343. Do something with Miranda."
Halo Community: "No. Stop."
Lore question here👋🏼 why doesn't the covenant use dead humans or just the hand of a human to activate the ring? Does it state they must be living??
The closest Miranda has come to being important again is being a main character in the tv show. That's just sad.
It never occurred to me that Cortana is both technically Miranda's sister since Halsey created her, but I guess you could also say that she's her mother since its a flash scan of Halsey's brain.
When this video started Miranda was in the the top 5 I listed in my head while you were counting them out 😅
Never been this early to a video. Feels good to be here 👍
I never forgot about Commander Keyes… 😢 nor Captain Keyes. Both best characters we should never forget.
I've been playing Halo since 2001 and I'm still convinced Miranda and Johnson had a romance arc that was hinted yet never explored since the events of Delta Halo.
is this serious???? did miranda really have this??
Realistically speaking, if nothing happened in those 2 years she could of got a huge promotion out of nowhere due to her skill, but also due to the fact humanity was getting they ass kicked and tons of ships and high ranking officers were dying left and right. Same type thing that happened in Star Wars.
I've never felt like Shes been forgotten, she has a whole storyline, and she's been in a major role in two Halo games. The one who I feel is forgotten is the elite shipmaster Rtas 'Vadum.
it would be so cool to have a naval game about Miranda story
That cut plot point sounds like something from the Halo show 💀
And think, Miranda had multiple interactions with Cortana. And Ai designed to look and sound like HER MOTHER. Would have been interesting to see her attitude towards Cortana shift negatively at the meet sight of her
Irony when you asked me what character i thought of at the beginning of the video, my brain for some reason instantly said "Miranda"
Crazy! I only learned she was halsey's daughter days ago while reading grasslands
Less go new demon video
Funny thing is that while Keyes and Miranda are both touted as amazing tacticians that only seems to apply to ship to ship combat because their tactical input on the ground in all 3 halo games is dumb as hell and lead to both of their captures by the covenant and later their avoidable deaths.
First you have Jacob Keyes on alpha halo who had tons of odst squads at his disposal yet he (the commander) went to the creepy swamp HIMSELF with a couple squads of basic marines. Then Miranda does the same thing except worse because she knew what the flood was.
Crazy that Halsey cares more about chief, and her spartans, more than her own daughter.
The fact they didn't make Halsey turn Miranda into Spartan is such a missed story element
-Noble 6 could have escaped Reach
-Rookie should *never* have been done dirty in a book
-Kurt was a fantastic potential character to play as
-Miranda should have been given the chance to surpass her father
-Forge could arguably have become the next Johnson with some work on his personality
Like, every time Bungie and 343 had a great character, their first thought was "wheres the human garbage bin, we need sadness"
