- Some of us might have experienced or are experiencing dark underarms - I did too! When I was younger and when I got pregnant with my first born!
Back then, I didn't know any better and I admit to having tried so many things to remedy it but nothing worked, until I finally understood what was causing it and addressed these issues appropriately.
Watch as I enumerate the possible causes why you have dark underarms and what you can do about it. But of course, keep in mind that nothing beats professional help from US -- your dermatologists!

I had been a tobacco smoker for more than 10 years, and have sadly developed darkening of my lips. I already quit smoking last April. I don't know if my lips can still go back to its better state. Mai Dulay hello! Thyroid hormone receptors are found in our skin and appendages and as such, imbalances in our thyroid hormones affect our skin. Having said that, dark underarms is not THE ONLY sign of a thyroid condition, there a many many other signs and symptoms and one should not think that he or she has thyroid issues just because of having dark underarms :)
Doc, what if no choice talaga magpalaser, and ang only choice para mawala hair sa armpits is to shave? since yung iba is teen pa and ayaw ng parents nila magpalaser sila kasi magastos what are other effective ways po ?🥺😭
some (including me) insecure sa underarms dahil mabuhok and possibly maitim pagnagsusuot ng sleevless lalo na sa if sa school need magsuot ng costume tapos sleevless pa po😭

genelyn survida hello! Maraming pwedeng dahilan ng hair fall. Maaring weak hair strands from harsh hair treatments or hair products. Pwede dn naman change in the hair cycle na nag cause ng paglagas ng buhok - nutiritonal (crash diet), after manganak etc.
Best to consult a dermatologist para malaman. Pero cge magandang idea yan para gawan ng video :) maraming salamat sa suggestion! :)

Sub-acute contact dermatitis and irritation can sometimes happen when using deodorants and antiperspirants. If you have sensitive/reactive skin, go for those not containing too many ingredients

Hi doc! I just stumbled upon your channel cause I was really looking for answers. I had this rash in my armpits after wearing a super tight velvet top with jacket on when I went to visit someone and when I went home It felt so itchy. The next morning rashes was all over my armpits and It was so itchy. I thought it was just some sort of allergy so took anti histamine, hoping it'll go away after few days. But it didn't huhu and now I feel better na but the discoloration caused by the rash is still here and I really affects me a lot cause my confidence went from ⬆️ to this ⬇️. I wont be able to wear what I want because of what happened😭 I feel so depressed. I feel so ugly☹️

I don't think my condition po is genetic because when I was young hindi naman po maitim underarams ko but when I have my bodily changes po at adolescent stage I began applying deodorants. I think I have sensitivities in deodorants, how can I prevent it po?
The best way is to identify what you are reacting to and to find a deodorant that has the least amount of ingredients.

Hello! Dark underarms can sometimes be due to changes in your hormonal status. So it is a possibility, but I recommend that you also check for other possible reasons why your underarms darkened :)

actually the one i use is dove sensitive, deonat is ok din.
ung hypoallergenic kc doesnt guarantee na d ka mag aallergy. it only means na the product contains ingredients that are less likely to cause irritations/allergies -- but no guarantees

I don't recommend applying a leave on acid in the underarms in the form of masque because it might irritate the underarms.

Hello po ulit doc! I want to try a whitening ointment sa dark underarms ko which is I believe na cause ng pag gamit ko ng deo at the same time lack of knowledge before on how to properly clean my underarms. Kaya lang po during this quarantine lumala po sweat ko sa kilikili at the same time B.O you suggest to me on your other video that it would be best to use deo at bed time. Ask ko lang po when should I use the whitening ointment if I'll use my deo at bedtime kasi pansin ko then po kapag ginagamit ko siya sa daytime pinagpapawisan kilikili ko then naiipon lang yung cream sa linya. Try to control your sweating muna by using your antisperspirant (not deodorant) at bedtime for 1-2 weeks, pag controlled na cya, then start your skin lightening ingredient.
If still not effective, consult a dermatologist na :)

There is some data that says calamansi/lemon is effective in killing bacteria and therefore controlling bad odor. However, since its acidic, it can cause irritation in your underarms - thin skin, prone to occlusion and friction.
Also, calamansi/lemon does nothing to control your sweat.

Honestly i haven’t tried them pero ang masasabi ko lng, home ipl devices are definitely not as powerful as the ones we use in the clinic. And i don’t use IPL for hair removal, i use lasers. I find that they are more effective in achieving permanent hair reduction.

Hello! There is no strong scientific evidence that proves that antiperspirants cause cancer. Our skin is a very effective barrier. Hindi basta basta makaka pasok sa katawan natin and blood stream ang mga pinapahid natin sa balat :) maliban nalang kung defective ung barrier mo pero hindi parin ganun kadali.

I am not familiar with the ingredients of the belo underarm cream, if you tell me I might be able to give my insights. Any form of trauma can potentially cause post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation especially in sensitive areas like the underarms :)
@@irenegaile It says that the main active ingredients are Alpha Arbutin and Hydroxyphenoxy Propionic Acid. However, I tried it and I noticed that it is very fragrant, tho I saw in one of your videos that fragrance is not that bad however my skin is sensitive so I am a bit wary to continue it. And for the past I have tried some products but still my underarms are not lightening. Do you have any recommendations?
And for the sugaring related question. I have been doing it since some articles in the internet say that it is better than waxing or shaving. Since opting for laser can be quite expensive, what can you suggest as an alternative for it?
And as for home remedies, it it true that using coconut oil on the underarms before taking a bath is safe and can lighten underarms? Thank you so much for your future response.

Yes, pwede naman, although be careful because irritation can lead to darkening. If youve watched the entire video you will know that identifying the cause and stopping it is the first step before initiating any form of treatment :)
10% might be too strong. Just use the 5% one and you'll be fine

Hello! Part yan ng changes during pregnancy due to hormones, the color usually goes back to normal after giving birth. If not, there are treatments that can be done in-clinic by your dermatologist.

Doc, I know not for all yung laser especially for people with darker skin tone (Fitzpatrick 4-6). What particular laser is okay for these people?
Laser for underarm hair removal? The one i use for those with darker skin types is the LP Nd:YAG. It does have less affinity to pigment than other wavelengths but in my opinion it's the safest to use.

Yes, the darker your skin type is the higher the chances of darkening in certain parts of the body. Pero, may magagawa naman jan. Pwedeng ma-even out or mapantay ung skin mo para hindi cya super dark in some areas more than others. But it requires patience and consistency, perseverance and doing and using the right treatments.

IPL is not laser but it is sometimes used in hair reduction treatments. I use diode and LP:NdYAG lasers in my clinics :)

Is it okay to use nivea hokkaido essence 0% alcohol deo? I'm using it right now.Yung bioderm ointment na nilalagay ko sa top ng hands ko(kasi may eczema), after few weeks nagkaron ng white patch as in pumuti talaga.Hanggang ngayon di nawawala yung white patch. So nagkaron ako ng idea kung pwede yun aa armpits. Yung main ingredients nun is 12g zinc oxide and 1g of salicylic acid. I want to know if you approve to use bioderm ointment for dark armpits.

Depends on the cause, but usually topical products with niacinamide or kojic acid help just be careful because some might cause irritation :)

Hello doc ! I'm 22 years old and I'm from India , my derma doc said that i have "perioral and periorbital melanosis" , I have darkness around my mouth and eyes, neck , knees . I have dark underarms from more than 5 years . I asked her to prescribe me any cream to lighten my underarms , but she ignored and said don't worry it doesnt matter .
