    George is well clued up 🙌 You should gauge it same as marine engine's ,, hours used ,,based on time not miles for oil change...

    • @RobertMitchell
      @RobertMitchell  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thx for the thoughts 2gt3. Hours are hard as the car will have to idle a lot waiting to get on track. Often that is longer than the lap therefore brake pads really are a solid reference point!

    Exciting to listen to you about wears and tears, in a car "abused" on a racetrack. I have run a taxi company in a big city, and have been driving 100K km yearly in city traffic. It's like 200/300K km on an ordinary road. Maintenance is about avoiding stops. All sudden stops are expensive, sometimes you have to wait for parts. People often asked me why I used expensive cars such as Mercedes and so on, and not cheaper cars. The cheaper ones couldn't stand the use, and the labor and the parts are as expensive as on the more expensive cars. The big issue is to get parts, with Mercedes you could get parts on demand, with cheaper cars it could take weeks to get parts.

    Robert! Welcome back, I hope you enjoyed your break. Typically not a huge TH-cam commenter but I've been a fan of the channel for something like a year.
    It's a pleasure to be here and I just want you to know I really do feel you have something special in terms of content.
    I don't think these types of videos including insight into a business / what actually running a car at a serious pace will do / takes on ring culture / etc. are common on ANY topic, let alone one that has to do with the most demanding track in the world.
    Please keep up the good work, your videos were missed.

  • @royliber3824

    Based on this video, kinda shows why you went having a rental Yaris GR. Sure things can go off on Toyota just like any other company, but they have shown durability over the years and its probably the only fun car Toyota ever makes nowadays along with the GR86. Also the fact that Lotus uses standard Camry engines for their cars which pretty much were born on tracks, shows how much of reliable engines they create. My problem with the company that apart from these 2 cars they create, all other cars aren't exciting at all to drive.

    Welcome back! would be god to hear what you have been up to? If family then I don't blame you, no need to explain! If rebuilding with in the flood community would be interesting? This is a good guide for the common person to realise that cars are designed to run on a road at normal speeds and not flat out! And when you do run them flat out things wear out a lot quicker and the life span of items is massively reduced! liked the comment of fitting an LS motor, but which one and then the fuel usage would be a lot more and its still being run flat out so things will continue to fail quicker than normal usage? All valid questions? Plus a fitting an LS would take a fair bit of alteration! What you have done with the M3 is very impressive! Friends have returned and said you must sit in the back lol, I think 35k of full sends is very good on a Engine that has not had so much modified, A director of a private race team once told me "A flat out mile on a race track is the equivalent of 12 road miles" How right he was is a guess? Cheers & Welcome back! 👍

I do have 1 out of left field question; do you consider kpg in your operating costs. • @RobertMitchell

      Kpg as in fuel economy? I can calculate that but we just rock it. Don’t worry about it as we won’t buy a car or not due to consumption.
