I’ve always loved reading Glass’s writings and listen to him talk about music, but I had totally missed this wonderful interview. Thank you for sharing this gem!!
1:14:07 such a good advice imo I've struggle a lot with staying in one artistic practice because I wanted to quit a 9to5 but actually you need to feed your soul
17 min in he talks about how the music they took years to learn to preform took people much less time to master since they had mastered it. Rupert Sheldrake talks about a similar effect called 'morphic resonance' in his book 'a new science of life' 1981. Very interesting
Interviewers and journalists have been remiss in not asking Philip Glass a very important question. Does he or does he not know that his work symphonic/choral work " Itaipu " celebrates an ecological disaster? The Itaipu Dam, constructed on the Paraná River without any public input during the Brazilian military dictatorship, destroyed forever, upriver from the dam project, a spectacular series of waterfalls called in Portuguese Sete Quedas (Seven Falls). These falls had an even larger volume of water than the famous Iguaçu Falls. While visiting Brazil Glass went to Itaipu and was wined and dined by Brazilian television soap opera stars, The composer apparently made no attempt to learn about the environmental impacts of the damn project. Brazil's most famous poet of the time, Carlos Drummond de Andrade, wrote a poem that was an elegy to the forever lost natural wonder that the clueless composer disregarded.

He's known for not being particularly modest, but he rarely has anything bad to say about others, he's very quick with compliments.
At least once a month I find myself listening to Philip Glass. Been a fan of his for years now ..
Again... great interviewing technique. Smart, confident, very well-informed, low-key - a masterclass.

Thank you's for making this happen :)
i love how he's created so much music that he has to ask the interviewer which song/movie/etc it is
So inspiring

POWERFUL PHILIP GLASS
I would love to see a Philip Glass biopic with Jeremy Allen White portraying a young Glass. They really do look alike.
I can only find one track with apex twin and Philip glass. Anybody know if more are out there.

Phillip Glass should go on the Adam Friesland Show
Interviewer seems a little uptight and frustrated.

Did he also steal your girlfriend.
Are you some kind of joker? Really beneath comment.
In that case, thank you for the comment.
You've been putting this same comment on a lot of Philip Glass videos. Frankly, it's annoying.
It may be annoying to you, but nevertheless it is true. For some people, the truth is uncomfortable.
