SWEETNESS! Don't give up Mr. Narell. It is continuous evolution and infusion that keep an art-form alive. If Panorama is to remain THE most relevant and biggest pan festival in the world (and we have competition) that draws people from all corners of the globe, it has to diversify its offering sooner or later. Perhaps a power pan, groovy pan and pop-pan category. Short-sighted, insular Trinis will not see it at first and will have to be dragged kicking and screaming into the future.
Andy Narell has embraced the Pan with great dignity and love he is geatly appreciated i would wish that he become re involved in the Panorama mostly at the Arrangement level his music is refreshinfng and would be great infusion into the PANORAMA!
If there was one band I would have loved to play with it would be this one - absolutely wonderful music.....and the players were On Point in every way.....can't Wait for this years performance.
Hear hear!! I agree with you, man. Why BirdSong didn't place has a lot to do with the fact that Mr. Narell is not a born Trini and, he's white. It has nothing to do with this sweet, sweet piece of music. This is a world class sound, man.
Do you all remember the music band from Antigua that came to Trinidad one year and won Brassorama, or best band on the road, well, its not race or anything of the sort, its We ting we very own ting, when you hear Calypso don't pretend you don't know, is we ting, we...................
Trinidesi I have to correct you on your info. Skiffle Bunch placed 8th in 1999 with "Coffee Street" and for me they should have placed higher at least in the top 4. They unfortunately placed 11th the following year with "Appreciation". The difference with those arrangements and this one with Birdsong was that those were still in calypso tempo as oppose to Birdsong's arrangement which more jazz.
I agree that Mr Narell should not be discourage to arrange in the competition but he has to understand that the panorama competition is at carnival time and the music should reflect that.
So what does that mean 😐 Good Music is Good Music Any Time and Day STOP THIS MYOPIC THINKING 🤔 It's Hindering the INSTRUCTIONS PROGRESS and EVOLUTION and RECOGNITION
music is music. Creativity and artistic expression is more important than neo-modern Trini conventions. Enough with the superficial debate about what is what- there is no truth in it.
they said d same and more about "Coffee Street"...the only reason why they didn't make is d same reason Skiffle Bunch placed 11th in 1999 - d arranger is not Trini and his skin colour is not right - PLAIN TALK BAD MANNERS. We Trinis cyah take a cut arse from ah foreigner. Coffee Street is probably d most memorable song of that panorama today. Birdsong sounded sweet & deserved to be in d finals more than a couple bands (whose name I will not call). Pls don't be discouraged Mr Narell...
THis is good for "Chipping Dong De Road"......NOT for Panorama......just listen to the tempo........the Tenor Pans "carrying" de tune.....could be why they did not make the Finals.
Thank you Mr Narell for that most beautiful piece of music that you arranged on the steel instrument it sure hit a sweet vibe!!!
2013 Panorama selection and it still sounds beautiful in 2022. It will always be a winner.
Just beautiful, give thanks to the Lord who creates men’s minds to create such wonderful sounds.

Sweet....
Awesome! To think that the musicians can't read a note or rhythm. What a job to rehearse such a piece.
Nice piece of music for sure, remember he learnt from us.

I heard this song on a jazz radio station in the USA it was fused with salsa/Latin music, anyone know where I could find the Latin version?
