That disc for that sword will be very uncomfortable to swing around with

You're correct that the disc can hit your wrist if you're just swinging it freely in the air, in a similar way to a Brazil nut pommel, Viking sword, or tea cozy pommel will hit you're wrist if you swing it in a full arc and not striking against anything. Similar shapes were also found on Roman swords and Bronze age swords. It can help to allow it to come in front of your wrist and hand. It isnt an issue until you're beyond where a target would be... They're made to hack into things, not swing about your bedroom unfortunately. 😃🗡🧝‍♂️

@Brendan at Fable Blades yes but most pommel throughout history do have them round as well so that it can be use in battle while others is still unknown yet but other believes that the rest are for Art, Execution and Ritual ceremony. It's still unclear
