Thank you very much. Once you get into a bit of a rhythm painting them they become more straightforward, you have to adjust your methods to suit the scale - no easy thing when 28mm cross belts are as big as 6mm miniatures!
@@thelastbattalion3509 Agreed. I actually enjoy painting 6mm Adler miniatures more than any other miniatures even at 28mm. I just noticed you did the white piping on the cuffs of the Legere soldiers!
It's part of their quality that they make it easy and enjoyable to paint them. And yes, I do put *some* of those kind of details on them but not down to accurate button colours and lace etc!
Hello, I am very impressed by the quality of your miniatures, especially regarding the painting. I know that for the 6 mm the important thing is the contrast and I find it very successful! As I am a beginner I would be very honored if you could give me advice, especially in the choice of colors to use. Thanking you in advance.
Very kind of you and welcome to the hobby! My main advice when choosing colours is probably to pick shades that are brighter than they are in real life in order to help them stand out on such small models. Also to begin with, don't try and paint too much detail or worry about extra highlights until you start to get a feel for painting at that scale - this will also depend on the manufacturer as you will need to get used to how they have sculpted the miniatures. Have fun!
@@thelastbattalion3509 Thank you for your quick response. Would you be kind enough to give me some advice on paint references? I've looked around the web and found a few lists but I find the colors of your figurines really effective and accurate. I admit that it would make it much easier for me to get started. Best regards
Thank you, sadly the 6mm Napoleonics have languished unloved for a little bit of time now, so many other things to do! They are based with the intention of playing Carnage & Glory II, according to the frontages suggested in that with a little bit of fudging of my own.
That depends on both manufacturer and individual point of view. Some measure from the bottom of the feet, some from the plinth that they come cast on, it depends. Like all the other scales, you then get 'big' and 'small' versions within a scale too as people interpret aesthetics differently. Then you have scale creep over the years too. It's complicated!
Thank you, I painted them all in strips then clipped them apart and glued them to the base individually. I can’t remember which blue I used, probably Vallejo Imperial Blue or Dark Prussian Blue, they seem likely candidates.
Brilliant effect with these. When you say you cut off the bases, what were you left with? What did you use to 'de-base' them? I ask because I'm seriously looking at these figures for my Blucher project, but the thick bases put me off.
I struggle to remember the video now, but I think you mean cutting them apart from their strips? Snipping them is easy, after that I just cut a little off to level their moulded base/plinth as bending the figure doesn’t always do the job.
I have a variety of books, with 1813 being a specific campaign of interest to me. There are orders of battle in many of them which you can use and/or cross reference. Bowden, Digby-Smith, Nafziger, are all useful authors in this regard.
Good question, something I've thought about including as part of a general scale consideration video. The answer is that it depends - on a figure to figure comparison you can normally get more little men than big me. But then other things creep in, such as choices over the number of figures for a certain frontage, substituting one scale for another, the relative price of different brands, things like that. For example, you might decide not to have a single metal 28mm figure on a base and instead use a larger number of 6mm figures over the same area for the visual appeal, and those then add up depending on how many you use. That's without getting into including plastic figures as part of the equation!
@@thelastbattalion3509 What Brands have quality plastic 6mm miniatures? I would be willing to get 15mm, but I would rather spend a lower amount of money on a smaller scale. I am a beginner to the community.
@@thelastbattalion3509 One more question. There is not a community of wargaming in my area, so what is the most convincing way I can have the game appeal to people? Lots of people in my area view something with so many steps, preparations, and rules not worth their time. There are a few tabletop rpg gaming communities that some may people there may have an appeal to wargaming.
@@theunknownadmiral314 Ah, that's my injection of confusion I'm afraid, there aren't plastic 6mm as far as I know, the closest you might get is the Warlord Games 'Epic' scale plastic Napoleonic miniatures. I meant more generically that there are plenty of plastic 28mm options.
@@theunknownadmiral314 I would perhaps try and demonstrate something both visually appealing and relatively straightforward. For a demo game have a defined scenario and create some player aids if they aren't available for the rule set already. Historical games can seem quite daunting from the outside, but often those opinions are held by people that engage in quite complicated hobbies of their own already. Yes there are super detailed rules, but there are a good spread of options these days.

Thank you very much. Not particularly long. It depends on the detail, such as extra colours on French units in full dress etc. If I did nothing else I could probably complete a couple of battalions per day once I got used to the scheme and process.
Lovely collection! Congratulations on your hard work.
Thank you.
Beautifully done

Well done! Those crossbelts look great! I know how hard it can be to paint correctly for each miniature.

Thank you. Getting them out en masse immediately makes me want to divert back into 6mm!
Really impressive. They look awesome.
Thank you! Took a lot of inspiration from your 6mm collection. Another of those projects I wish I had more time for!

Incredible - such a beautiful collection you're showcasing here. Great job and would love to see more!
What game system have you based these for?

New boy question. Where do you measure from to determine size? From the base of the stand or from the foot of the figure?
That depends on both manufacturer and individual point of view. Some measure from the bottom of the feet, some from the plinth that they come cast on, it depends. Like all the other scales, you then get 'big' and 'small' versions within a scale too as people interpret aesthetics differently. Then you have scale creep over the years too. It's complicated!

Woow how do you even paint things so tiny
It's an adjustment from larger scales certainly. It helps that the sculpts aid you by giving lots of nice details to pick out.
Question, which scale is cheapest to buy in large quantities?
