      From the start, my YT aim was to help just one person with each video. I'm happy it helped you, thank you.

    Thank you largely for that video - it answered a lot of questions for me. I’ve bookmarked in and well share with some other “somewhat new to Fusion” folks.

    Hi VA3SII you don't have to connect to WiresX to talk on AmericaLInk. It has a YSF reflector too not just a WiresX room and it has a lot more people in it. You can set it as your boot YSF # in PiStar configuration page and it still works to that reflector but not with the wiresx news and other stuff like seeing the number of people in it. But it does work for seeing who is transmitting and for talking and receiving.

    I'm quite curious what is "zl3ab" from the intro at the beginning(the morse code)?

    That was helpful. Looks like a lot of options available using a hot spot. Will it work using any Pi hotspot? Thanks for the video.

      Hello. Just wanted provide an update. I got it to work thanks to your video. On watching it again I noticed that I did miss an important part initially, pressing the back button when the “news” page came up.

    how long does it run on the power bank?

    • @va3sii
      @va3sii  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Of course the answer is how big the capacity of the bank is. I get two or three days out of mine before I recharge. But it's not flat at that point.

    Speaking of crossmoding with the Wires-X button, here is my crude video demonstration of setting up for YSF, YSF2DMR, YSF2NXDN, and YSF2P25 all turned on simultaneously and using the Wires-X button to hop from network to network with the Wires-X button. I apologize that my video quality pales in comparison to yours. th-cam.com/video/wU6ssfSoRA0/w-d-xo.html

      @@va3sii no problem. The DMR crossmoding works quite well and is a great way to also experience DMR without having to buy a DMR radio. I am amazed how it even allows you to store DMR talkgroups with the Fusion radio! The Pi-star folks have really worked hard to add these features!

    As it sits everyone including this the videos suck, No one has shown a step by step on how to get the radio set up for a hotspot, They show the radio after it has already been set up setting behind the hotspot and then they show it's working,
    You goofy people please take the time. It is made me so mad I am new to ham radio. I do DMR fine., But to try and set up my bought for fusion. I have no concept because all I see is somebody talking about. It has to be set here and it's sitting beside the hotspot show the steps on how you did this, I am sorry if I upset you on how I worded this but I am getting very frustrated. I have already called one company and chew their butt because their videos sucked they just showed a radio sitting beside a hotspot, Please take the time to show on how the radio is set up step by step by step on how you do this Setting up pystar is one thing but the radio you are just showing with it done.

If you had asked a question constructively instead of that tirade then someone may feel they would like to help you I'm sure. Learn from that. I do hope you get the help because it is rewarding to use.

    VA3SII de K5RPM. I can get my PiStar hotspot into a room, if I choose one in the config....such as AmericaLink. I can then communicate with other hams in that room. However, when I push the GM/X button on my FT5DR, I get no response from the hotspot. And I make sure to do this when there's no activity in the room. Neither will my transmission show up in the Local RF window, such as when I'm talking normally in the group/room. I really want the ability to change rooms, like you demonstrated with your FT5DR. I followed all of your settings in the video. I even tried with WiresX passthrough ON and OFF. Still no joy. My hotspot is a DVMega dual-band, running PiStar 4.1.6, which I updated versions in 2021 but, funny thing is, 4.1.6 is no longer available on the PiStar.uk website. It's almost as if my hotspot is deaf to that short little digital burst when pressing/holding the GM/X button. Any thoughts/suggestions, sir? Thank you!! Ron - K5RPM

    • @va3sii
      @va3sii  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I feel your frustration and understand the statement deaf to that burst of data etc. Im struggling to suggest. Obviously it has to be done when the hotspot is not transmitting. Have you tried changing the radios digital bandwidth to dn or away from dn. Cant think right now what else to look for. Good luck with it anyways Ron. Sii VA3SII (now G7HCD) again

      @@va3sii From what I gather, it's likely the radio hat that my hotspot employs, specifically the DVMega dual-band. I can get it to x-mode if I set BM 3102 as the network, and define a room # (such as Worldwide).

    The Wires-X Pass-through is used so you can select reflectors and talkgroups in YSF Crossmoding. Here is a link I found discussing it. forum.pistar.uk/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1394
