    A few years ago I was lining up to go on a ride at Universal, Florida and a group of American students asked me who we Brits considered to be British hero's. I struggled for an answer but if I'd known you then I'd have said " Dave from BrenTeck IT Support." I bought my Paris tub 2 years ago and found you when I was struggling to understand the enclosed instructions. I saved you in my favourites to remind me how to take down and set up the tub since then. Once again you have come to my rescue today, helping me to put the canopy together and now I can relax in the 40 degree tub no matter the weather.......Thank you Hero Dave 🙂

      Hi Tony, Thank you for your high praise, I truly appreciate it. Sorry for the delay in reply but we were being big kids running around Universal and Disney Florida ;) I hope you also subscribed as we will be doing a video on how to heat your Lay-Z-Spa for free.
      All the best Dave

    Mate, thank you for saving my sanity with this in-depth video tutorial. Basically the instructions that come with this Spa are next to useless.
    Your guide has made my children very happy.

    I fully insolated my tub boxed it in and sat it on 60mm insolation and mats.also wrapped the sides and bk in foil insolation. And before I pumped the lid up I used double sided tape an stuck more foil insolation on top of the inflatable bed.took 12 hrs to get from 4degrees to 40. And takes less than an HR to get from 34 to 40 .I also boxed in and insolated the control/ pump really helps with the noise and keep it warm.had it for a few weeks now love it . Hi Neil,
      Wow, what a lot of work, but sounds like it paid off. I love the idea of boxing in the pump as it can be noisy but so are the bubbles. If we had the extra space to box it all in I think I would but it only just fits in as it is.
      Kind regards and keep well for 2021

    Hint fill with hot water half way and then cold and hot halfway though cost affective and u can enjoy as soon as it full

    • @BrenTeckITSupport
      @BrenTeckITSupport  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Shazbarton, Yes you can fill it with hot water at the same time if you want. I would not start with hot water as you hot water may easily be much hotter than what the Lay-Z-Spa is designed for and may cause damage to the Spa or be two hot for the user causing burns. Some hot water systems will go up to 70-80-90 degrees cellulitis to kill bacteria in the system so be careful if you do this.
      So starting with the garden hose will help as you will then be heating cold water not cooling hot. Also as soon as the inlet is fully submerged I guess you could put on the pump and heater as well making sure the water level does not drop making it run dry!
      Hope you subscribed as I will be doing more Lay-Z-Spa videos. Kind regards Dave

    Top tip!!! If you have instant hot water boiler...turn your boiler temperature down to 40° and fill from tap saves around £7 on electricity

      @BrenTeckITSupport  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Clive,
      Yes that is a good idea, infarct I was thinking of doing that this summer as I have got a hot water tap in the garage now as I have been using it as a temporary kitchen whilst we were working on the new kitchen install.
      Did not think it would also save money :) but happy to save money were we can. I was just thinking it would be a quicker way of getting the spa to temperature.

      Hi Antonio
      Thanks for your comment I really do appreciate it. Lots of people are saying the same thing. It's quite common now for companies to do poor instructions. In the past, everything came with a user manual telling you how to use, maintain and repair the item. Nowadays you buy it and though it away so why bother with instructions let alone a user manual.
      Kind regards and keep well for 2021

    FYI I'm sure you've realised now one year on but the chem connect locks onto the hot water inlet that you removed the second black stopper from. It's not a chemical floater it will sink if you try and float it. Watching your video how come you didn't shock the water and carry out chemical checks before using ? Mine took roughly 48 hours to cycle after the shock dose of chlorine before I could use it

    • @BrenTeckITSupport
      @BrenTeckITSupport  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Vlog,
      Yes, you are very right that it is not a floating dispenser it goes on the top screw for dosing the water after it comes out of the pump.
      I filled the tub with fresh tap water so I could just go straight in like a bath and I then just dosed it after and tested it the next day.
      Taking a shower before and after will help keep the tub and you cleen.
      Well spotted and thanks for pointing out where it goes. I did put it in the right place in the end but that obviously got omitted from the video.
      Thanks again and keep well

    David - you utter legend! Thank you so, so much for taking the time to make this brilliant and honest - and informative video. People like you make the world go around! We guessed your name was David - and we were right! Good Friday 2021 here and we’re about to start this mammoth task of setting this Paris spa up! We do have an outside hot tap but filling mostly with cold because we’re sure our tap is hotter than 40C and don’t want to damage the lining, heater/any of the parts etc. Wish us luck and thank you again so much!! Legend! WE LOVE DAVID!,

      Wow, thank you so much for your lovely comments it makes it so rewarding to hear how you felt :) thank you, you really put a smile on my face reading this today!
      If you do want to use your hot tap part fill with cold first and then mix keeping an eye on the temperature as you are right it could be too hot and damage the tub.
      Let us know how you get on with your spa.
      Sorry for the delay in replying but helping my parents move in into their new house which needs some work to get it going but will be worth it in the end.

      @@BrenTeckITSupport Dave, yes, we 1/3 filled with cold then added the hot tap hose and like that, just kept an eye on the temp gauge. It got to about 28C or so pretty quickly and then started the steadily rise. It took just 2.5hrs to fill it using this method. We’ve used it several times since setting it up. It’s great. I’ll bet you were a godsend to your parents helping them move house! Everyone needs a helpful, friendly Dave like you in their lives. Keep making the videos! I’ll have to watch your ‘deflating/packing up’ the hot tub video as well.

    Smart plug is near to useless as the rcd uncouples when you turn off the current .
    Ie you need to push the button on rcd to switch back on . So to recap you can use the smart plug command to switch off but NOT to switch on xx

    • @BrenTeckITSupport
      @BrenTeckITSupport  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi John,
      Yes, Smart plugs are near to useless as the RCD will uncouple when power is lost so you will have to manually turn it back on by resetting the RCD.
      This is why I love the new Lay-Z-Spa Milan Airjet Plus with WiFi th-cam.com/video/fow2Kaj3FRg/w-d-xo.html as this answers all the problems with a smart setup and give so much more potential which we will be exploring in future videos, so I hope you have subscribed as once this is done you can save a lot of money.

    You are a saviour! I consider myself smart (ish) and have no trouble with flatpack furniture. However the information that comes with this spa is rubbish and a disgrace. Not clear on how to assemble and nothing on operation! The official videos miss out steps and ignore essential actions. You covered it all. I too had a bag of left over parts and couldn't work out where they went. I did wonder about generic packs. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this video.

    Mine said in the instructions to fill it between the min and max line :)

    • @BrenTeckITSupport
      @BrenTeckITSupport  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Bigbird
      It may well have been in ours as well, I honestly can't remember now. But still between is not that helpful. All I know is if you fill it to the max and have two small to medium people in, it splashes over. Bear in mind it's designed for 4 to 6 according to the packaging. I feel the 4 is the comfortable max, with six is a very friendly party ;)
      So, a number of persons marking would be a nicer rough guide like ---- 6 people Min --- 3 people mind point ---- Max one person -----, in my opinion than just min-max. So the more people you plan to have in the spa the less water you have in it.
      Kind regards and keep well

    • @BrenTeckITSupport
      @BrenTeckITSupport  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Barry,
      I keep the filter attached all the time and clean it out after every use. Hence I went for the two sponges as I can swap them around.
      Water only is pass through the filter when the circulate mode is on. It's the button immediately under the temperature controls.
      You can only heat the water when circulating the water.
      So, you can circulate / filter the water or heat and circulate . No heat only.
      I hope this answers your question.

      If you have the new one that has the frost protection system you can run it all year long and a hot tub in winter is meant to be even nicer than in summer. If you are running it all year I would also advise having a hut around it with extra insulation to keep running costs down and extend its life. As I have the older one we have to weigh till next year as well :(

      Yes, yes they are but keep trying it's worth it in the end and will help to prevent them from damage. Do it slowly and work your way around. You might find it easier when up the right way with a small amount of water in to help hold them down a bit of weight not to force them flat as that could damage the PCB table.

      I know it would about double our electric bill before we got it as we are very energy efficient here. So a big water heater will make a massive difference to us and most people hence we also got sola panels th-cam.com/video/9npLjYp79qI/w-d-xo.html at the same time.
      I also got a 10 Ft Round Solar Pool Cover Blanket for Spa amzn.to/3uZMgrp to keep the heat in overnight / when not in use which does help a fear bit.
      Now I am doing more video work and upgraded my PC which is now very power-hungry when crypto mining.
      As for the chemicals yes they are confusing instructions and so much testing in them. I just play it by eye. if my eyes sting, I have too much chlorine in... If the water gets foam or green foam I add more. That is how I do it. I simply top up the chlorine after use, change the filter, and keep bromine tablets in it all the time. Thow I do have to say follow the instructions not my way for safety and hygiene LoL.

    What is the plug head like for the LEDs? Is it just a standard plug head or is it bulkier? Just wondering because if its bulkier then I won't be able to close the cover on my outside socket . Thanks

    • @BrenTeckITSupport

      Hi Jake, it's a standard plug with a short flex to the transformer which you are meant to mount to the wall, then another sort bit of flex to the LEDs so it will fit into your waterproof socket without a problem. :) I only show it for a sort bit at th-cam.com/video/qlmE5DTPkb0/w-d-xo.html so be quick on the pause butting if you want to see it.

      No there is not, you just have to wait for about five minutes according to the instructions. Keep next to it and check till firm and then stop, it really does not take too long. Use this time to make sure all the ports line up with the holes in the side for ease aces when done as you can move the blader and outer wall before it gets two inflated.

      Hi Laura, Thanks for your comments great to hear from you. I did not mention really talk bout how to chemically treat the water as it will very on so many things but if you use it a day or two after it was filled then it should be clean tapwater so yes it will be fine but only for a day or two then the water will start to stagnate as in the UK tap water already has chlorine in it. We did a new video about the Milan th-cam.com/video/fow2Kaj3FRg/w-d-xo.html where we showed the new Thermal Hot Tub Cover amzn.to/3jYFxeu as for cleaning and treating the water I use

      ClearSpa Bromine Tablets 1kg amzn.to/3L64pg1
      Clearwater Chemical Starter Kit amzn.to/3Lc2BSU use the test strips every so often as this will help you learn your spa water quality and treatment plan. If you feel the water is off definitely use the test strip as it could save you from a full drain down and refill just by adjusting the Ph and chlorine/bromine levels.
      Floating duck chlorine dispenseramzn.to/3Ml9GRl not it video as we got it after ;)
      I could do a video on how to treat the water thanks for the idea I will consider doing it.

    when you empty can you drain onto the garden or will the chemicals harm the plants ?

    • @BrenTeckITSupport
      @BrenTeckITSupport  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Carol,
      The simple answer is yes it can damage the plans and grass so its best to get it down the drain using a hose.
      Is there a pond or river near buy as the chemicals can affect plants and animals there as well!
      The long answer is..... It should be safe as long as the levels of the chemicals are not high as the water in the hot tub should be at a reasonable level and if you are packing it up the levels shod be lower as you probably have not just put more chemicals into the water just to pack it away.
      If your water in the tub is green and smelling then it will probably be safe as the chemicals have been used up and no longer being effective.
      If there the water is crystal clear and a chemical smell then it will kill somtihg.
      No matter what don't empty in near your prised roses they probably won't like it.
      Also, you have to think about over waiting for some plants, as this will be a lot of water going in the ground at one point in one time.
      Please be careful and responsible for disposing of chemicals.
      Please see the two links for more information they do contradict each other a bit but both are correct.

I installed 10A cable and it is fine - though I will probably uprate that to 13A, just to be safe. (Though I did install a double socket, hoping to have a spare - but now it's for the LEDs.)
      I also didn't bother to try flatten the LED cable (But did unpack/unroll it a few days in advance!) - just made sure the LEDs were pointing into the tub. They look ok.
      Connecting the pump was easier if I did the big air connection first (as that has little give) and then the two pump connections. I found that out the hard way.
      The 'chemconnect' is not intended to float, but to be put on the upper pump outflow :) - and don't use it with chlorine granules, only with tablets! The clicks between closed and open as dosage settings, I think.

      lol I can just see The granules they provide going every were with that dispenser. I switched to tablets straight away, did not even try them in there. I sprinkle some in after every use as a top-up.
      We set it up again at my parents' last week and had the fun and games of getting the LEDs to lay fat. They love to do the twist like they did last summer.
      I must say the Lay-Z-Spa does seem to be very well made in terms of safety as it does internal checks to make sure everything is wired correctly before it will turn on. Hi Rob, Looking at the reviews amzn.to/3ueuAdI someone is using this for there hot tub and a 1.25mm core can take a max of 13amps up to 3120 Watts so this should be fine. Please remember to uncoil any extension cord completely to prevent overheating and damage to the insulation and do not let the ends get near any water. If I could find a thicker 1.5 or 2mm core extension that was rated for 16amps I would go for that but can't find any. If in any dought please speak to a qualified electrician. Ideally getting an outdoor socket installed on a dedicated circuit is best but it can be part of the final ring circuit.

      Hi Hackettdavid,
      The fuse is 13amp but it draws less under normal full-load operation. Grounding rods can be fun depending on the soil type you have so may need earth neutral bonding done if you keep getting the 6cf or e06 error or you could have a loose earth connection in the plug socket. If in any dought contact a professional electrician who will be able to advise you. Some of the rules and installations can get very tricky.
      I run ours of a dedicated spere using at least a 4mm grade cable (from memory) and normal house earthing without any problems.

      Yes, I do know why it's simple £££££. As long as the transformer is not going to get wet (the big box) it's only 12V after the transformer, not 240v so will not kill you. So you are meant to mount the transformer on the wall so it will not flood.

    great video. i have this hot tub. i just fill it up with hot water when i want to use it. unfortunately, i don't have a proper outdoor plug. i have a summer house which is powered from a heavy-duty extension, i don't have any problems with any electrical items in the summerhouse eg oil filled heater, and a TV.
    I have used the pump to keep the water warm a few times ( not if the TV or heater is on. ) not had any issues with it.
    However, after watching your video i checked the online hot tub safety page and It says on their that the pump will work off a 13amp. but it also says not to use from an extension.
    I'm guessing this also means a heavy-duty extension.... I have an RDC inside the house, will this trip if i use the heater if there's a problem.
    Safety tips off the webpage
    Our hot tubs run on a UK standard 13amp/240V electrical supply. You should always use a grounded socket with RCD protection. All of our pumps come with a built-in RCD unit as a safety measure. The socket that the hot tub is being plugged in to should be grounded and at least 4 metres away, at a height of at least 1.2m from the ground. We recommend getting a qualified electrician to install a grounded outdoor waterproof socket with RCD protection (this should always be done by a qualified electrician).

    • @BrenTeckITSupport
      @BrenTeckITSupport  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ritchie,
      The reason they say do not use an extension is most use a thin cable and so will have too much electrical resistance and heat up and melt the extension cable which could start a fire. Also, make sure the flex is fully uncoiled first to prevent overheating as well.
      Someone heavy-duty extension cables start that they are suitable for a 3kw fire. If so that should be OK. As long as it plugged into the ring main and not a spur socket for the same reasons.
      If your setup is an outdoor reinforced cable straight from the ring or consumer unit (fuse box) and you only use the spa or the fire one at a time not both together it should be fine. If in doubt always ask a professional electrician to inspect it. If a professional installed the cable you may well be able to use both at once, again seek professional advice.
      A ring main is normal 2.5mm solid core X 2 to make the ring, one in one out. An electrical shower extension is normally 6mm or 10mm core but can be up to 16mm.
      I hope this helps
      Kind regards and keep well

    Hi, thanks for your helpful video!
    Did your box come with a rubber washer seal? Once we'd filled ours we noticed it had a small leak between the hot tub and where you initially put the inflater tube, and nowhere did I see on any tutorial video's that this was needed! Thanks

    • @BrenTeckITSupport
      @BrenTeckITSupport  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Stuart,
      If it did they were already fitted to the hose or socket which is why I did not show them.
      This year I did have a black sill fall out and I had to hut for it, as it leaked without it. It was a special shape to fit around the plastics so a standard washer did not work. I think this is the part you are talking about. www.lay-z-spa.co.uk/lay-z-spa-screw-valve-pack.html
      All sills should have come with it so if you are missing one take a photo of where the leak is and contact lay-z-spa customer support support.lay-z-spa.co.uk. I am sure they can send a spare one out if it's in warranty.
      Kind regards, thanks for watching and keep well.

      Hi David,
      Thanks for your quick reply and detailed response! It’s actually next to where that valve you’ve posted is.
      It’s where you initially put the black inflater tube on on the pump, but once the pump lines up with the hot tub it’s actually the connection next to it. (The singular one, not the 2 on top of each other)
      It may just be that this rubber seal had fallen out which is why you did not notice it and therefore didn’t have to do anything upon set up

    hi good video just a quick question is the base meant to inflate fully as mine base hasn't also we didn't here a beep to tell us the inflation had finished filling up.Do you think i need to put more air in it. I have not put any water in yet as i was unsure about the base.

    • @BrenTeckITSupport
      @BrenTeckITSupport  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Dawn,
      Thanks for the comment and glad you liked my video.
      The base is not meant to inflate.
      I can't remember if it beeped to say it had finished inflating or not, I don't think it did. The walls should be firm and rigid with only a small bit of give in them if you push down on the top of the sidewall. It can take the weight of my wife sitting on top of the sidewall to help here in and out.
      I am not recommending that someone sits on the sidewall but this shod give you an idea of how much air to put in. Don't worry too much about it, as if after you fill it you can remove the pump and add more air later.
      To remover the pump to reinflate without emptying the spa see th-cam.com/video/bK4myVcu3WI/w-d-xo.html time stamp 3:08

      Hi Jay,
      I get your confusion, their website leads you to believe that the whole 2021 range has WiFi but it would appear not every one has it. It could be a labeling issue or price point management. I suspect it's the latter as others have said that there new 2021 did not come with WiFi. The one we have is an older model so does not have WiFi. All I can recommend is reed the product dimensions carefully and if there is any doubt contact the supply before and perches.

    Hi Thanks for this . When it comes to putting Chlorine tablets in how long should i run the pump for and is this the correct procedure ?

    • @BrenTeckITSupport
      @BrenTeckITSupport  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Martin
      I use bromine tablets amzn.to/39mL5JA as they are meant to last longer in the hotter water and can be less irritating. I have 2 to 4 Tablets broken up into smaller pieces and keep them in all the time in the water out cradle.(the upper on the two plastic screw on things on the side) If you want to use a floater as well you can if you need extra treatment.
      I run the pump all day if I am going to use the spa to get it up to temperature. I turn it off if I am not going to use it for a coupe of days.
      It all depends on how you want to use it. Just remember the more you use it the more chemicals you will need.
      Just keep an eye on the water condition using the test strips and adjust chemicals as needed. Clearwater CH0018 Lay-Z-Spa Chemical Starter Kit for Hot Tub and Spa Treatment amzn.to/2Lwu3ja

      The bubble mat should bee in the box if not check the packing list they may have changed it from 2019 but I doubt it. So you may need to contact them as it could have been left out.
      The three nozzles should line up after it's been fully inflated so if you have not inflated it yet do not worry, infant it first. If they do not line up after send me a photo I would need to see what is happening to know for sure.

    • @BrenTeckITSupport
      @BrenTeckITSupport  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Carol
      When you say the lowest ring of the tub won't inflate is it a full size ring and the same colour as the rest of the tub? If so something sounds odd and may be best to contact the manufacturer as it could be faulty.
      Or is it a smaller one inside the tub probably transparent with holes in it? If so it's probably the bubble jet ring and it only files with air when the bubbles are on. I assume you already have it set up so try and turn on the bubbles and see I that's the case.
      Hope this helps and thanks for the comments.

As for the PH testing it was clean fresh water like taking a bath so I did not care for the chemicals and testing for a quick dip. I added the Bromine / Chlorine tablets to stock up the chemicals but does not worry me. Yes, you may very well be right professionally you probably do need to do all of this but for private self use just get in and enjoy it top up chemicals and test the water after if you are in a rush.

    • @BrenTeckITSupport
      @BrenTeckITSupport  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Ecogreen,
      Our one is fine, both the tub and lid. Both will deflate slowly over time and need to be reinflated but only once every couple of mounts. If you are needing to do it more then once a mount you may have a faulty valve or a small hole somewhere.
      Take the air bladder out of the cover, give it a good clean and look for leaks. I would put a bit of it in the hot tub and rotate till I see any doubles. Or you could spray it with soppy water an see were bubbles form. Once you find the leek use a repair patch and cover the hole.
      I have a feeling the lay-z-spa came with a Vinyl Repair Kit for Hot Tubs. I can not find mine now so I could be wrong. You can get one form here amzn.to/3irB692

      @BrenTeckITSupport  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi James,
      Very sharp eyes and you have and a good point.
      You must fully uncoil any lead when using a device especially extensions leads to prevent overheating. In this instance I was only using the air pump which has a very low power usage so is not a problem at this time and it's outside on the cold bricks so will not overheat.
      When using the heater yes, yes you should uncoil the flex fully to prevent the cable from overheating.
      When working on AV cables again always uncoil them, not only to prevent overheating but to prevent interference so you get a cleaner signal.
