    I used to use Shaw wheeled glass cutters that had to be dipped in oil before use, then changed over to an oil cutter. Also used a wooden T square with tape on the back for getting the line straight and true.

    Do you need that liquid to cut the glass or is it simply for making the cut easier and smoother?

    • @rwdh199
      @rwdh199 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Kerosene is used to clean the glass. It cleans it suuuuuper super clean as long as you use a microfibre cloth. The cleaner the score line / cut line, the cleaner the cut.

    At 2:05 you did not seem to apply any pressure, but at 5:40 you had to. Any reason for this difference? I tried doing the same as you've done at 2:05 and waited a while and nothing happened! How did that happen for you!

    Hi, can you explain how the cutter works? I find it mind blowing that it can cut thick glass

    • @TheRealObiWahn
      @TheRealObiWahn 4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Glass cutters usually have a wheel of hardened steel or tungsten carbide which scribes the glass surface. As seen here, better cutters have a liquid reservoir which contains cutting fluid and here the area which was scribed had been cutting fluid applied also.
      First cut, the off cut was apparently heavy enough that it broke without force, the 2nd cut had to be forced.
      Depending on the thickness of the glass you have to choose the right cutter. Thicker glasses require bigger cutting angles of the cuttin wheel. Recommended cutting angles are from 120° for 2-3 mm up to 165° for 19-25 mm thick panes of glass.
      Random fact: To this day, it hasn't been scientifically fully explained how the physics behind cutting glass works...

      OK, I answered my own question. It's Kerosene.

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@mikedalakis5292 That's right, the liquid is just kerosene, it makes cutting easier and protects the cutting tool's video, it makes a big difference in cutting, if you look at the Toyo TC 90 cutter there is a reservoir that I put kerosene in it to act lubricating the occasion scratch on the glass.

    Porém, preciso de ajuda. Vi nos comentários sobre a marca do produto pra cortar o vidro.

    Se puderem me ajudar com essa minha dúvida já deixo antecipadamente meu muito obrigado.

      Então Max essa marca que utilizo, é uma das melhores quer existe atualmente, ela é bem confiável, se trata de uma marca japonesa bem consolidada no mercado e quando o assunto é cortador de vidro ela desponta sempre na frente, sei que os profissionais que trabalham em vidraçaria utilizam muito esse cortador, !! Não sou profissional, sou hobista e certa vez comprei um cortador xing ling e simplesmente não consegui bons resultados, por fim acabei desistindo e comprando esse que é muito badalado e produz excelentes cortes... as vezes o barato sai caro, vc compra um produto por ser mais em conta e acaba passando raiva e frustração na hora que precisa... esse cortador até que não é tão caro, dado ser um excelente produto, se estiver pensando em adquirir um, esse é o produto que vai durar uma vida se bem cuidado!! Valeu, aquele abraço!!!! PS: só tome cuidado na hora de comprar pois tem muitas falsificações por ai!!!
